As the first rays of sunlight shoot above the horizon, the desert glistens, and just for a moment I am back on Haven-1. Ninsianna's eyes were this exact same shade of gold. I loved to hold her in the morning, waiting for her to wake up because, as she opened her eyes, it always felt as though the sun rose in my dark and lonely world.
Blood-red clouds roil to the west, adding to the unease I've felt ever since the nightmare woke me up. It feels as if a storm is coming, and when it arrives, it will drown us in our woes.
