Rose Many thought ran through my mind. I quickly discarded it. Remember Rose you’re now Nolan beloved. No more looking back The night was quiet. Listening to each other’s heart beats, I felt comforted. After a while sleep finally engulfed me. The sound of the door being banged opened in the early morning, breaking the tranquillity and warmth I was perceiving from Nolan’s body. Nolan immediately covered my half naked body with the covers and propped himself up. "Congratulations, my dear cousin. I heard your wife is beautiful damsel. And sorry I couldn’t wait till you guys are out. Sorry for intruding” A young man who would be almost the same age is not same with Nolan stepped in. I didn’t miss the blush that crept on my cheeks hearing him labelled me as beautiful damsel. "Thanks" Nolan answered coldly. My smile died down. Somehow his reply didn’t sound pleasing. "You don't have to thank me. It was just a courtesy," Nolan eyed him as if he can see him vividly. He took off his jacket and hang it around somewhere before occupying Nolan’s study chair. While I rush to the bathroom to get dressed up. "Do you know why I’m here though?" I could hear their voices from the bathroom "I don't know why. Neither do I care Jason" Nolan’s voice was still indifferently, "You have always been a insignificant being Jason. We both know that I don't expect much from you." Jason laughter filled the room. I contemplated on whether to go out or allow them to finish their conversation. But if I stay inside, they will think I’m eavesdropping on their conversation which wasn’t what I want and I also don’t want to intrude. I took in a deep breath before turning the door knob. However, I stood there. "Well, this time, it's actually not about me. I'm here to inform you that your beloved grandpa just died a couple of hours ago. He died of a heart attack." Wait…What? Did I hear correctly? Is that supposed to be a joke? I didn’t know the time I yanked the door open. "What? What did you say?" The way Nolan eyes were fixated on Jason. Dangerously. As if he was never blind. As if he was going to murder him with looks. His body went rigid. Whereas Jason was calm as if what he said is one of the funniest joke in the world. "I thought you are only blind. I didn't know you're also deaf. I said the old man is no more. No one in this family will protect you anymore. You piece of shit." Jason laughed evilly. Nolan was quick in advancing towards him grabbing him by the collar. His eyes were now different shade. “That’s a flat lie!" He used so much strength that his knuckles were turning white. Jason laughed, jerking Nolan’s hands away. “I’m saying the f*****g truth. I saw his lifeless body in the mortuary. The funeral will be held in two days. Too bad you're not qualified to be there." "That’s a lie! How did grandpa die? Did you kill him? What did you guys did to him!" His veins were popping as he roared. He clenched his teeth as he threw his fist at Jason. The next minute he was on the floor. "How could he die? He can’t die!" Nolan growled. I know the pain in his heart had occupied the pain in blind eyes. Nolan lost his parents when he was still young and grandpa was his only family. Jason bent down to his level and smiled viciously, "The old man died because his precious grandson became blind, turning out to be a failure. Why don't you just kill yourself once and for all" My body shudder at the sight. I made my presence known by marching forward. I didn’t care about how untidy I looked. Jason raked my body with his eyes. "Damn, Nolan. You did marry a hot piece. How about being my mistress, little beauty?" I glared at him, trying to free myself from his hold. However, before I could do anything, Jason grabbed my arm, and swept me up and smiled viciously, "Take off your clothes. If you serve me well, I might consider letting go of your loser husband." "Leave her alone!" Nolan growled. He was now back on his feet. “What can you do? What will you do with her? After all you’re blind” That angered me and I used my strength to attack him. "How dare you b***h!"Jason pushed me hard on the floor. “I’m warning you Jason. Don’t test me. My wife is not like the sluts you sleep with. You don’t have that right to point a finger at her” Nolan threatened. Jason didn’t waver. “What will you do?” “I can do many things to you. I can destroy your image. Just because I’m blind doesn’t mean I don’t have the power” Something flicker in Jason’s eyes. Like fear. I knew Nolan wouldn’t allow him to step on him. My heart swell at the way he took my side. “Should I take that as challenge dear cousin. Or-” his phone rang making him to halt what he was about to say. He placed the phone to his ear and muttered some few words which neither of us were able to catch. The smile that was once on his face disappeared. "I will leave you and your wife alone if you give me what I want. Think about it, my dear cousin." "Now, excuse me because I've got the Hendrix gold to succeed. You two can keep enjoying your cozy shaky bed while rotting in this shithole." If I say his statement didn’t annoy me, I would be lying. Before Jason left the room, he turned to the middle-aged maid by the door, "May, make sure you take care of' my cousin and his lovely wife very well and remember who pays your salary now." "Yes, Mr. Hendrix," the maid answered with a flattering smile on her face. Fake people. The maid called May slammed the door shut pretending she didn't see anything. I took Nolan’s hands, heartbroken. He sat there blankly and lifelessly as if his soul had vanished. I know how important Nolan’s grandpa is to him. He is Nolan’s only family and also the one who loved him most. He must be undergoing so much pain right now. I know that kind of feeling. I had lost my mother. How I wish I could say something to make him feel better, but I couldn’t instead gave him a warm hug. Nolan pulled away after what felt like minutes "Ariana. I lost my grandpa. I am all alone..." He looked so pale and vulnerable. I hugged him tightly wishing I could share my own body warmth and power with him. You still have me. I will always be with you. I will never leave you. Tears prickled my eyes. How I wish I had the power to make him feel better. I held his hand and pressed my lips against them gently. I felt his pulse. It was steady and strong. I know how to heal since I was a child. I learned everything from my grandparents. Judging from his pulse, I can tell that his blindness is just temporary. He could still recover if he gets proper treatments. My heart swell up with excitement at the thought of that happening to Nolan. With proper care, I can heal him. He would be able to see again. My heart was pounding so fast. I wished I could shout the good news in his ear but all I could do was to shake his arm gently. He felt the tension from the touch of my hands, "I know. I still have you Ariana. Thank you." ''Do you have a phone?'' I have my old mobile phone with me. Nolan grabbed a piece of paper and wrote a phone number on it, ''Can you call this number for me? This man will help us. Just put me on the phone when he picks up.'' I did as requested and put the phone against Nolan’s ear. ''Hello, Cody, it's me'' Nolan’s voice was deep and soothing. ''Sir? Where are you? Are you okay?'' The man called Cody bombarded at once. ''I'm at home at the moment and I’m fine'' ''Okay Sir. I will be on my way!'' Giving the phone back to me he began explaining 'This man used to be my assistant. We can trust him.'' Cody arrived at the house soon. He looked young with a pair of glasses on his nose. He cried when he saw the state Nolan was in. “Sir, your grandpa passed away...'' ''I heard about it already,'' as grief as Nolan had been, he was calm. ''Just take a seat first.'' Cody sniffed as he grabbed a chair from the corner. I handed him a tissue. "Thank you " Cody said, but then his motion stopped as he access me. Could it be he knew I was not Ariana? ''Cody, my wife has something to tell me. Can you let her write down whatever she wanted to say and read it for me?'' I already have a pen and a piece of paper. I wrote down a couple of sentences and gave the paper to Cody. Cody's eyes were lit up as he saw those words, ''Sir! Great news! Mrs. Hendrix just said she knew how to heal and she could make you see again” Nolan’s body went frozen for a second before a wide smile broke his face. "Really. You are really a miracle to me." “This is a great news Sir. It’s not the end of the world. You will get back on your feet in no time. "
