Hi, welcome to Angela's world. Please take note: Before you read, please clear the cache In your Dreame App settings, please!!! Thanks. ANGELA The strong wind outside blows hard, hitting the window in my bedroom room to close, causing it to smash hard and detach from the window frame and break to the ground. I sighed. I went outside to look for transparent plastic and grip tape to cover the broken window. Nothing ever comes right in this house; you get one thing fixed and then the other one breaks. When will things get right for me and my family? Will we ever overcome this? After covering the window with plastic, I put on some clothes that cover my whole body and a large hat. My skin gets very sensitive under the sun, I can even get burn blisters. Is that even normal for a human being like me to have an allergic reaction to the sun? I thought only vampires react like this to the sun. Anyway, I head to the living room where my family is. I only live with my mother and my grandmother. We live in a village, and we are ruled by the King, Ethan Williams and I must say, my mother hates that family and so I also grew not to like the Williams family, but because we don’t want any problems or get on the King's wrong side, we live to obey his rules in his village. With my mother being unemployed ‘deliberately’, we survive through my grandmother’s pension money which is also not enough to last us until the end of the month. This is frustrating because I just came out of high school and should have started with tertiary, but how do I go there and enjoy while my family is here suffering? I am only eighteen years old but here I am, worrying about my family and what we are going to eat before we go to bed at night. I think I should go out there and look for a job, just to help put food on the table. Maybe if I knew who my father is, maybe if he was present in my life, things wouldn’t have been like this. Life has never favored my family, especially me. “I am going out for a while. I will be back before sunset,” I say to my grandmother, the only person I can consider as my parent as my mother and I do not get along so well. My mother whom we call Getty always says hurtful things to me — everything that I ever do is wrong in her vision. We fight so much like siblings, and I hate the fact that it gets my grandmother’s blood pressure to react quickly, and to get her to a clinic from here on time will just be a miracle that she survives the episode. “Are you going to that stupid boyfriend of yours? I told you to stay away from everything that has to do with the Williams family!” Getty says. Do you see what I mean? “Getty, can you keep your opinion to yourself for once!” My grandmother shouts at Getty and then she turns to me. “You may go; just make sure that you come back before dinner,” “Okay.” I walk out of the house, leaving Getty clucking her tongue. She was right when she said that I am going to see my boyfriend, but my boyfriend is not stupid. My mother’s hate for him began when she found out that he will be working as one of the King’s guards at the palace. He is still in a training process, but I trust he will make it. His name is Logan Le-Roux, and he is twenty-one years old. We started dating six months ago and our relationship is going well. We are still enjoying our honeymoon phase. I arrive first at our meeting spot just around the corner and sit on the big rock, waiting for him. I am sure if we had cell phones, communication would have been easier so that we don’t have to wait longer for each other I mean, what if something comes up and he doesn’t show up at all? “Boo!” I got startled, screaming and jumping off the rock. Logan came from behind me and scared me. He can be very playful but, I am not complaining. “You scared me!” I retorted at him, hitting his arm playfully. He laughs, planting a kiss on my cheek. He is so handsome. 5'7 feet tall, caramel-skinned, nicely trimmed mustache, and a perfect soccer player type of a body. Who wouldn't want that? My man! “I do this all the time, my Angel. You don’t ever seem to get used to it,” He pulls me closer to him, holding my waist. I wrap my arms around his neck. “That is something that one can ever get used to,” He looks down at my face before he baby kisses my lips. “How are you? How long have you been waiting?” “I am well thanks. I was not waiting long; how was training today?” He sits on the rock and pulls me to stand in between his thighs, facing him. “It is hard, but I have to be strong. I need that job to be able to pay for my father’s medical care and to spoil you too. Would you love that?” I plaster a huge smile on my face. I am a girl, and I obviously would like to get spoiled by my man often. “I'd like that, of course. And, if there are any vacancies at the palace, please tell me. Even if it’s cleaning, I can do it,” He bites his lower lip, thinking. “Won’t Getty have a problem with you working at the palace? I don’t want her thinking that I am 'bad influencing you' and all that,” “She doesn’t have to know,” I persist. He sighs, shaking his head. “I don’t know but I will observe, although I still wish you could go to tertiary and fulfill your dreams there,” I sigh. “My mother does not look like someone who is into looking for a job, as long as she has a boyfriend that supports her financially and…” I breathe. “What is it; does she still spend it on alcohol?” I nod. “And the swearing that comes with that, body shaming me in front of her boyfriends, all of that never ends. The words are not even a problem; the problem is from who they are coming from — my mother, Logan,” My tears stream down my face. He pulls me into a hug, resting my head on his chest. “If I leave, who is going to take care of my grandmother?” “It is going to be okay; I promise. One day, you and I will be happy, living our lives somewhere in the burbs, out of the village for good without having to worry about what we left behind. I am going to save up some money for you so that you can go to the University of your choice,” We are still in a honeymoon phase so, to hear him say things like this scares me because we don’t know what our future might look like but at the same time, I am grateful to know this is how much he loves me to want to see me go to school, furthering my education. “Thank you but, what about you? Do you not want to graduate from university?” He was supposed to be doing his fourth year in medical school, but he dropped out to come and look after his ill father and his fifteen-year-old girl and boy twin siblings. Their mother passed away just a few years ago due to a hit and run so, that is the situation for him. “Don’t worry about me, Angel. When the time is right, it will all go smooth like there was never a bumpy road.” He kisses the top of my head. “I love you, and those cute vampire teeth you have,” “I don’t have vampire teeth, Logan. I love you too.” He laughs. My canines are quite sharp and he is fascinated by them. He has very nice straight teeth and I like his teeth more. My name is Angela Ajax. I am eighteen years old and I live with my mother and grandmother in a Kingdom called Moon Valley. I am 5'5 tall, and I am brown-skinned–not dark, but I am what they consider as a "yellow-bone"... eek! My hair is 4C black curly afro, that is my biggest priority that I have to think about every morning. A girl has got to take care of her hair. This is a story that revolves around me. Enjoy.
