EIGHTEEN YEARS AGO
It was a year-end school party at a boarding school, and all the students were gathered in the school hall, celebrating, while a couple decided to have their own fun near the lake. It was late in the evening and the stars were shining brightly in the sky, with the full moon illuminating the evening, making the moment of the couple to be more romantic.
An eighteen-year-old boy and a girl, naked all over each other’s bodies, were making love on the lawn. It was a risky decision to commit adultery right there where anyone could come at any time, but luckily for the young couple, no one came until they both reached their peak.
“My brother and I are leaving tomorrow,” The boy mentioned, lying on his back on the lawn.
The girl quietly listened to the sound of the beating heart on her boyfriend’s chest while she laid her head on it.
“So I heard. Do you think that we can still see each other at home?”
They live in the same area back at home in the village. Just that, the boy comes from a privileged and respected family.
“I will try and sneak out, hopefully, I do not get caught by the guards, or my father,” The boy states how impossible it can be to escape his gigantic home without getting caught.
“I am going to miss seeing you every day,” The girl whined.
The boy gave the girl a tight squeeze, assuring her that it will be okay.
After a few minutes of comfortable silence, the girl hears some shuffling from the woods. She stirs and sits up.
“Babe, did you hear that?” She asks in a panicking tone.
“What is it? I did not hear anything,” The boy also sits up.
“I think I heard something from the woods,”
“Let’s get dressed and get going before they send a search party for us,” The boy suggests.
The only way to the lake is when you pass through the woods, even when you return back to the school. The girl was now feeling uneasy as they were walking back to school which is approximately 10 minutes. The boy held her hand and asked if she is okay.
“I don’t know, I feel like something, or someone is watching us. It makes me uneasy, can we hurry,”
“You are worrying about nothing, baby. Just relax and let’s enjoy the little time that we have together,”
“I am scared,”
“Trust me, can you do that? Don’t be bothered by the sounds that you hear; it is probably squirrels,” The girl nodded, and they stopped walking, looking at each other for a while before their faces collided, their lips devouring each other. They looked into each other’s eyes and smiled.
“We should get going,” The girl said.
Just as they turned in the direction that was leading back to the school, a shapeshifter was standing there, on their way absorbing the whole scene. The girl screamed with so much fear. The boy held her into his chest, suppressing her cries.
“I told you there was something in the woods, but you made me sound crazy!” She got angry at how her boyfriend was too ignorant.
“Give us the girl,” The shapeshifter said to the boy. He did not seem to be fazed or flinch. It was almost like he has seen the worst before, so this was absolutely nothing.
“No,” He refused.
In just a blink of an eye, three wolves jumped down from the trees and walked around them, as if worshipping them.
“Don’t look,” The boy whispered in the girl’s ear.
“I am scared, I just want to get out of here,”
“Please trust me, babe. I will protect you,” The boy insisted, but the girl was not having it.
The girl was not having it. It was even frustrating, wondering how possible it can be for someone to stay as calm as he is in this situation.
“No! I am done listening to you. If you had listened to me earlier, none of this would have been happening,” With panic, the girl pushed the boy, making it look like they were attacking the wolves. The wolves and the shapeshifter focused on the boy who had grabbed one of the wolves and ripped it apart, causing the shapeshifter to attack the boy.
"Nooo!" The boy screamed.
“Find her!” The shapeshifter ordered the two wolves, but the girl was long gone, leaving the shapeshifter to fight with the boy.
