Chapter Ten: “Your brothers will accept me!”

1043 Words
Rylan’s POV The following day, as the first light of dawn cast a golden glow over Creek, I awoke determined to prove the existence of the White Wolf, my destined mate. My mind raced with thoughts of the mysterious creature and the significance of our connection. My brothers would be sorry for not believing me. Daniella was not worthy to be Luna. She was weak, crying and wrapping herself around Rio like a snake. I would never accept her as anything more than the daughter of my father's beta. Once showered and dressed, I went to the pack's central meeting hall, where the pack's leaders gathered to discuss important matters and make decisions that would shape our future. As I entered the hall, I could feel the weight of their scepticism and judgment hanging in the air, but I stood tall, ready to defend my beliefs. Nobody would succeed in changing my mind. I was sure of that. My father was already there, and he cleared his throat and gazed across at the crowd of members waiting for his speech. “Good morning, my trusted pack members of Creek. I have some important things that have come to my attention.” Alpha Morgan addressed the gathered pack members, his voice echoing through the hall with authority. Everyone fell silent and waited patiently for his announcement. “We have received reports of a sighting of a White Wolf on the border of our territory," he announced, his gaze sweeping across the room until his eyes stopped on me. Murmurs of disbelief and curiosity rippled through the crowd, causing my father to bang his fists onto the table. Again, everyone fell silent and still. "We will investigate this matter further and determine the truth behind these claims," Alpha Morgan continued his expression stern. "The reputation of our pack is at stake, and we cannot afford to ignore such a significant development. You are all excused.” he waved his hand to dismiss everyone. As the pack members dispersed to begin their investigations. Before my father could call me to his side, I quickly left and went to the border where I had first seen the White Wolf. The air was crisp and cool, the scent of pine and earth filling my senses as I scanned the horizon for any sign of her presence. I was gutted not to see her as I had hoped. And then, as if in response to my silent call, a figure emerged from the trees. “Hello, Rylan.” I bared my teeth and growled in annoyance. Daniella looked up at me with wide eyes and a smug look. “Daniella, what are you creeping about out here so early?” I grumbled, but she ignored my questions. “Can we talk?” she ushered me towards her, but I remained planted. I didn't know what she was up to, but there was no way I was trusting her. I knew she would do anything in her desperate attempt to get me to accept her as our chosen Luna. “No, Daniella. We cannot talk. You have caused a lot of problems for me and my brothers. You are not my mate or my Luna.” I told her crossly, to which she looked taken aback. “I have more important things to do than deal with you now. Go back to the pack house.” I ordered her. As Daniella's expression faltered at my harsh words, I could see a flicker of hurt and confusion in her eyes. For a moment, I felt a pang of guilt at the sharpness of my tone, but I quickly pushed it aside, my resolve to prove the existence of the White Wolf still weighing heavy on my mind. “But Rylan, please.” she attempted to plead her case once again. "Daniella, our paths are not meant to intertwine how you are dreaming. You must understand that you are not the one destined for me or my brothers," I stated firmly, my voice tinged with undeniable certainty. "I have seen the White Wolf, my true mate, and I will not rest until I prove her existence and claim our destiny. Your true mate is out there somewhere.” Her eyes widened in disbelief, a mix of disbelief and hurt evident in her gaze. "But Rylan, I care for you and your brothers. Nobody else matters to me more than you, brothers—my alpha quadruplets. I have always tried to be supportive and loyal to our pack," she pleaded, her voice tinged with desperation. “Grant me this one wish. I can give this pack great heirs, strong ones.” My heart softened slightly at her words, but I knew that I could not let my emotions sway me from my path. "Daniella, I appreciate your dedication, but the bond between an alpha and his mate is sacred and cannot be denied. The White Wolf is out there, waiting for me, and I must find her," I explained, my tone gentle but persistent. I turned away from Daniella, unable to bear the pain in her eyes any longer. I knew that our conversation had brought more turmoil and hurt into her life, but I could not compromise my beliefs and destiny for the sake of her feelings. “But, Rylan. You know your brothers will accept me so that you will have no choice but to agree,” she said sharply with her arms crossed over her chest. I shook my head, unwilling to entertain the idea of Daniella becoming my mate. "I will not let the pressure of my family or the pack sway my decision. The White Wolf is my destined mate, and I will not settle for anything less," I declared firmly, my voice betraying a hint of sadness for the pain I was causing Daniella. Yet, I had to stay true to myself. “Once my family see her, they will agree with me. Now go away before I get mad.” I growled, warning her to do as I ordered. She gasped but turned on her heel and strutted off without another word or looking back over her shoulders. She was starting to grate on my nerves.
