Getting the story from the source.

I walked back to the pack house two hours later. It was nearly nightfall, and there was a nip in the air that seemed to calm me down. Something that I desperately needed. I couldn’t get that girl out of my head. Something was also driving my wolf mad, and though the night air didn’t help with him, it did help to cool my heart rate down. It kept my internal temperature from me ripping off all of my clothes.                “Where is she?” I asked my Beta upon seeing him.                “She is with the pack doctor at his clinic. He thought that it would be easier to treat her there.” I was about to ask a follow-up question when he continued. “I lost track of the humans after they left our territory.”                I sighed. “I want to double the guards for the time being.”                “What about the human?”                I looked at him. “That is why I am doubling the guard.”                “I’m not talking about that one,” he said, glaring at me. “I am talking about the girl. Matheus said that you stayed with her until others arrived.”                “I did.”                “Is she going to survive?” he asked me. I had thought about it the entire walk back. I wanted to say that it didn’t matter. I wanted to say that I was focused on my pack and nothing else, but what came out was my wolf. What came out was anger that I didn’t know. “Why the hell should I know that?” “I was just wondering. The story that Eliza has been telling about her, I thought that we should at least make sure that she is alive,” he said, looking down at the ground. “It would seem like the least that we could do for her.” “What story has the girl been telling?” I asked him. “The human saved her life.” “What?” I growled. He looked up at me. His eyes weren’t defiant. That much was clear, but they were stern. “You should ask Eliza yourself,” he said before walking away. I ran to the pack doctor. There was something in me that I had to know the truth of what happened. I had to hear it from someone who was there. “Alpha,” the pack doctor said when I walked inside his clinic. It wasn’t significant. We had never needed big. We were quick healers and better fighters. Yes, this suited us fine. It was a room that had four doors, going in different directions. “I assume that you want to speak with the girl.” “I do,” I said, looking at him. He was one of the pack's oldest members. My father had asked him to retire years ago. Still, he had refused, saying that they needed to find a suitable replacement for him before he would ever think to retire. He was the first of our pack to be an actual doctor. He had become a doctor, and then a vet, and then studied here. When he was ready, and not a moment before did he take over. He was small for a werewolf. Fragile too. He was all skin and bones, but we knew better than to take him on. He was stronger than most people his age. He had white hair, but he wore it well. “Right this way,” he said, walking to the first door on my right. I didn’t know what to expect. I honestly didn’t see how bad her leg was. When I walked in, what I saw what not what I was expecting. She was laughing and playing with her little baby sister in front of her. Touching her nose and watching her giggle. Her parents were fussing over her. Her mother kept brushing her hair with her fingers. Her mother looks a lot like her. Both have long black hair. Her sister, on the other hand, took after their father and got the brown hair. All the women in that family looked to have porcelain skin. One thing that both the girls got off their father was their green eyes. Their emerald green eyes. Eliza had her leg in wrapping, and it was up in the air, out of her little sister’s reach. Their father, a bigger man, kept asking if his daughter was ok as he paced back and forth. They all froze when they saw me enter the room. That was a reaction that I was used to. I walked further into the room. “How are you feeling?” I asked Eliza. She looked at her parents and back at me, and back at her parents. Her parents nodded. “I am feeling well. Thank you, Alpha.” She stopped talking for just a moment and looked at her parents, but they looked at her for a moment. “Oh, right,” she said, taking a breath. “Thank you, Alpha, for helping me get out of the trap that I was in.” “You are a member of this pack, and I will do what I can to protect you,” I said, giving her a smile. “I would like to ask you to tell me what happened. If you feel up to it.” I added the last part because I knew that I sounded harsh. She looked at me for a second. “I ran from my parents because I got overly excited,” she said, looking over at her parents. She then looked back at me and began talking. Stronger than she had before. “I don’t know how long I ran, but I missed the trap on the ground. My parents always taught me that I needed to be careful, but somehow, I missed it. I felt my leg get grabbed, and it hurt; I howled in pain for several minutes before I heard talking.”
