Chapter 3 The Strange Things

515 Words
"Really?" Ding Zhigang feigned surprise, "There might be a problem with the account. My finances have been tight recently, so this kind of situation can occur." "What should I do?" Wanqing looked at the check, feeling very desperate. It was easy to get money once, but could she possibly get it again? What about her mother... Ding Zhigang said, "How about this, we'll have dinner together tonight, you give me your account number, and I'll transfer the money directly to your card." Wanqing was silent for a while before responding, "Okay." After hanging up, she returned to the hospital to accompany her mother. At six o'clock, she called Ding Zhigang again: "Where are we eating?" "I'll send a driver to pick you up," Ding Zhigang said. "I'm at the hospital." Ding Zhigang paused for a moment before hanging up. Wanqing sat on a bench outside the hospital and waited for over ten minutes before the driver arrived. After getting into the car, she closed her eyes and leaned back in the seat. Some time later, the driver called her. Thinking they had arrived, she got out of the car only to find the driver had brought her to a fashionable salon. "What for?" she asked. The driver said, "The chairman has a reservation at a Western restaurant and requires formal attire. He specifically instructed me to bring the lady over to get ready." Wanqing looked at her simple attire, feeling very annoyed. But for 500,000, she endured it! Two hours later, she arrived at the restaurant, famished. "Do you have a reservation, miss?" the waiter asked. "Ding Zhigang." "Please follow me," the waiter glanced at her and led the way. The air conditioning in the restaurant was set very high, making her shoulders feel cold. She wanted to reach out and cover them, but such a gesture seemed too unseemly, so she endured it. Approaching Ding Zhigang's table, she noticed there wasn't just Ding Zhigang there but also a man with his back to her. She hesitated, then called out, "Dad..." Ding Zhigang hurriedly stood up, smiling, "You're here, come over." She was startled because Ding Zhigang's smile actually contained a pleasing element! This was not normal! Absolutely not normal! Just then, the man who had been facing away from her turned around, his lazy eyes flashing a sharp light upon seeing her. She recognized him at once as the man she had bumped into at the company that afternoon. "This is the president of Mu Corporation, hurry and call him Mr. Mu," Ding Zhigang urged. She stood frozen in place, dully calling out, "Mr. Mu." Mu Tianyang smiled slightly, his eyes starting to scan her from head to toe. She was wearing a light purple strapless dress, her hair piled to one side, with a pretty makeup look. Glancing down, her delicate collarbone was exposed, and a sparkling crystal necklace hung on her chest, ostentatiously catching people's gaze. Satisfied with her appearance, he curved his lips into a smile and turned back to Ding Zhigang, "Come to my company to sign the contract tomorrow."
