Chapter Three
The Luna of Midnight Dawn Pack
Miller was nothing but concentrated.
Her eyes were rooted on the charts, checking to some patterns in her behavior but so far, she has nothing but none. Ever since the whole fiasco in which the beta female almost died, she had been doing almost everything she could — and more — to make sure that it does not happen again. She was getting less sleep than usual, but it was fine since it was for the beta female.
She needed to live.
And it was her job to make that happen.
A lot of people are counting on her to make sure that the beta female is alive. It is one of the hardships in being a doctor, but that is what make her job very important. There are lives at stake and she needed to do everything she could to save them.
There were not failures in her practice.
No one had died in her arms.
Miller will not fail anyone in the pack.
Most especially, she will never fail their beta. She knew that the man had always loved hearing stories about mates and wanted to have his own for quite some time now. When she was in her lowest of low, that little child was the one who had helped her go through it all and she had vouched to do everything she could to make sure that his mate would bear children safely. To know that he was in a situation where his mate could die — Miller would do almost anything to not let the child suffer such consequences.
Jax did not deserved that.
Nobody does.
If Marked Red have mates, she would not even wish for them to lose such precious people in their life. Mates are very different than just the idea of love for wolves. They are the very basis of life for wolves and they took a great importance of that mate.
As everyone was almost well aware, Miller has suffered in the consequence. Her mate had died a few months before they even got married and she vowed to be a doctor to never let another wolf suffer the same pain and grief that she had suffered.
For years, she succeeded in that promise that she made for herself.
She will not let her first failure to be with their beta female.
“Doctor Miller.” A nurse called as a folder was slumped in her hand. “These are the files that you wanted to have. Where should I have it placed?”
She nodded, still having her eyes cast on their beta female. “Thank you, Jenna. Please put them in my table for me. Grab another folder of the cases close to hers, please.”
“Of course.” She replied.
No medication was working for her body. It is like almost anything that they had injected inside her body was just getting released in terms of her pee. While it was normal that most bodies would reject some medicine, it was not at all normal to have another human to reject all of them. She had put it all on her way to purchase what humans needed but she was not accepting any of it.
Which was nothing but weird.
Pushing the button close to her, a voice vibrated from the device. “Nurse Station. How can I help you, Doctor Miller?”
“I needed another sample of her blood. Have someone extract them now, so I could form some analysis as soon as I could.” Miller instructed as she see some more discoloration in her face.
The woman nodded on the other line as someone was already sprinting through the place, knowing that Miller was tending to a very important person in the pack. “A nurse is coming on the way, Doctor.”
“That is good, thank you.” She replied.
Miller noticed that she was getting back to her worse shape, which does put the theory that whenever she circled back into her good shape — it does get worse every time her body bounces back down. However, she wondered why that happens. It was not a normal reaction but it feels like someone inside her was continuously defying what her body needed.
It has been quite a while when she evaluated her blood.
She needed another result.
And fast.
As the nurse had come to extract some blood on the beta female, Miller did not even leave and waited for the result. She watched as blood retracts from her body and almost bites the skin inside her cheeks upon seeing how it was extracted. There were no evaluations needed as one could see the consistency of her blood. It has the safe effect as it does on the first time that Miller had seen her — but why? She made sure that no traces of poison were inside her body since day one.
What happened that it seemed like nothing was taken out of her?
“Doctor.” The nurse uttered, seemingly surprised with the sample. “This is not…”
“Take that to the lab. I needed result and fast.” She instructed.
She was quick to run to where she was adheres to and Miller looks nothing but dejected. The look she gave to the woman strapped with nothing but machines in the bed was nothing but pleading. When a doctor was not aware of what is wrong with the patient, she could have many theories and by the almost full year that gone past through her life with nothing but her failing her health — she has her shares of theory.
However, by this second, she was clearly outnumbered with ideas to what had happened to the beta female. Every reasoning and status that she had to what could have happened were all proven as nothing but false to all of her researches.
Miller was not aware of what is happening and does her mind. It would be good to see if the poison was doing something but she had meddled in that fact. The poison was from the marked red and she had given her enough doses for her to heal from it. The wound was gone from the Beta Female’s body. Miller’s cure had worked.
So when she didn’t wake up, Miller realized that her body was not reacting to the poison from the Marked Red. Then where?
Where did it come from?
f**k.
“Beta female.” She uttered, looking at the woman with nothing but a deflating confidence. “Please, show some signs in what I needed to find. Please. You need to live, but I needed some help in order to give you the proper way procedure to heal you.”
A sigh escape from her lips, clearly out of data by this point. To her hand was nothing but the record of the beta female from the past day — if she would have compiled it and asked her sister for assistance, would she have seen something that Miller failed to see?
With a newly fresh hope inside of her, Miller was quick to dash back to her room and copied every data that she gathered from the beta female. The nurse even came back with the result of her blood that was still clearly contaminated by poison. Since her body was filled with antitoxins, which would destroy the poison from inside her.
This poison came out of nowhere.
Miller was sure of that.
Has somebody infiltrated the infirmary?
f**k.
That can be the only thing that will explain what is happening, nothing else could have been the reason as to why she suddenly have poison in her blood.
Rushing to the desk, she was clear to point out her suspicions. “Have someone guard the room of the Beta Female and let Jana take over as the main nurse in the room. She needed to check if every nurse who are going inside the room are handling in right medicine for her.”
“Is everything okay, Doctor Miller?” One of the nurses asked, clearly confused.
“I sure hope so.” She replied, her hands fisting on her side. “While I am away, make sure that the only staff that can enter her room is no one but Jana and you. Is that understood?”
“Of course.”
Miller nodded her head as she dashed to her car. On her passenger seat was the data that her sister needed to check. While she fears that someone had really poisoned the beta female while she was out, he needed to see what her older sister would say.
Heavens only hopes that she has something to say — or Miller is back to square one.
.
.
Hani furrowed her brows, clearly focused.
To her table were a thousand of files that she needed to review and most are all about the status that the pack was going. While this job does need her husband and what he would usually do on a regular basis, she found it therapeutic to have herself some obligations in the pack. Maddox was nothing but approved on her decision so she see nothing wrong with her handling some affairs in the pack.
“The number is lower than before.” Her could not help to muttered as she scanned the pages.
She frowned, grabbing the last week record on her side drawer and seeing the difference from the two. There was some worried expression printed in her face upon seeing that like she had initially thought, the number was lower than last week. Carefully putting the last week record on her table, she scanned the newly sent one while her other hand was ringing another person on the line.
“Good morning, this is the pack's school.” A chirpy voice answered the phone. “Can I please know who I am talking to? and if you needed to talk to the Principal?”
Hani frowned as she continued to scan the folder. Without having the time to change her emotion, she replied. “Good morning. This is Hani Blaze. I just needed to talk to who is available. You will probably be enough to answer my query.”
“Luna!” A voice called, seemingly surprised. There was a couple of talk around her before she cough, trying to compose her own self. “H-how can I be of service, Luna?”
“I am looking at the report sent by the school. How come there are a declining number of pups that is willing to shift than what it shows last week? Everyone is of age, is there something that had gone wrong? Or is the report sent to me clearly holds error?”
The woman bites her lips, never knowing how to answer. “W-well…”
“Is there a problem?” Hani asked her, worried by the tone that she was giving.
“I am sorry, Luna. The files is nothing but correct.” She started, letting out the sigh that she wanted to hide. “However, the pups does feel the worry that settled on the pack when the Beta female was in a bad shape and hence, their wolves are not responding than normal. Pups are normally more inclined to how the beta female is linked, since they are fated to spend most of their years in her care.”
Hani heard that event like this could happen from her husband, and even Mason. Just like how Maddox and Jax were expected to be a team — she needed cooperate with Nvae to make sure that the pack was going strong as it was.
For them to not have the beta female in good condition does spark some complication in the pack. She was just not aware that it would impact some reaction from the pups, enough for them to lose confidence in shifting. However, as much as she wanted to be at peace with them — they could not just decline the status.
It would have some complications when a pup declined shifting when they are of age. Maddox had not been clear to some signs but she might need to learn about them before talking to each one.
She sighed, nodding at the files as she put it on one side. “I understand what is happening. I will be visiting by afternoon to check on the pups and talk them out of it. Please take care of them before I do so.”
“Of course, Luna. We will be waiting.” She replied, her eyes drawing big as she realized that the Luna was visiting the school. While she was never really a stranger in visiting, she had visited for quite some time now and the kids do love interacting with her.
Having her to lift their spirit might help them encourage shifting. The female smiled as she flopped the phone down. It was a good thing that they have an able Luna.
Hani checked her list and added the school to the places that she needed to visit. Since she needed to handle more jobs than before, it does pose her some active jobs — like needed to visit places to make sure they were functioning well or to give them some advice on how to work on the problem. This was in a scope of her job and what she needed to do.
While it was tiring as it looks, she does really enjoying have some talks and cooperating with the pack. It gave her sense to visit them on the daily and seeing how it changed per her request. She had never done something so beautiful as she have done this. When Maddox told her that his job does have its up and down, it took her a while to understand what he really means.
For now, she has three places that she needed to visit and seemed to be it. She never really complained about this type of job. In fact, she grew to love visiting people and learning new things from them by the daily. Hani was slowly realizing just how fun and important it was to be a Luna.
It does not stop her from feeling tired on some days, though.
As she looked through the places she needed to visit, there was a sigh that escaped from her lips. Hani might need a coffee or two after this and she just wished that her husband would not be worried or take her away from the places she is visiting when she clearly did not want that.
The first place that she visited was the place where the farmers were growing some crops. While the report that they have been improving by the day, she had noticed that unlike last week, there was no inclination in their stock of food so she was really worried. People were quick to notice her arrival and all had walked to her, greeting her as they normally do.
Everyone in the pack felt familiar to her now and when she used to feel very uncomfortable with them, she now feels nothing but at ease knowing that they were supporting her through the very daily of her venture in being their Luna.
She chuckled upon seeing the number of farmers gathering to properly greet her. “I told you that it is quite alright to continue on your work while I do some visits on the site.”
“We could not do something disrespectful like that, Luna. You are far too important!” They answered back with smiles printed in their faces.
Hani smiled as she looked through their place of work. Like always, it was Johnson who had toured her around the place and updated her on what had happening since last week. She was confused as it was in the same order as they did before. However, how come their crops were not increasing as much?
“Did something changed for you all to get the number decreased as normal?” Hani questioned.
Johnson nodded but instead of feeling bad, the man seemed nothing but thrilled. “It is strawberry season so we needed to have some time for it as the pack seemed to enjoy it from the season.”
“Oh, so that is why.” She smiled, seemingly having her mouth water by the thought of it. “That is good news, then! I adore strawberries.”
Johnson smiled to her words, knowing that they were preparing good for the occasion of her having to be a fun of the fruit. “Then I will make sure that we would send you a couple when they grow.”
“Please do, Johnson.”
Hani had spent an hour in the place and checking almost everyone who was working there. She made sure to give them some energy for the day as people does appreciate the workers who gave their time planting and working on the daily food that is being consumed inside the pack.
As soon as she was done with visiting the site where the crops were, she headed to where the school was located. On her hand was a book about the dangers in not shifting in the right time and she had to evaluate everything until she reached the place. While she had her fill on what the book entails, she needed to make sure that she remembered everything before walking inside the place.
Children are very delicate by this time. She had only learned that they are more affected with Nvae being in grave danger. Pups would have to be in her service, seeing that she will the one who would nurture them and help them shift into their wolf. Now that she was in grave danger, their wolf does feel the link.
Hearing the small chatter not that far from her, Hani was already well aware that she was close. Flipping the book close, she smiled as soon as she reached the place. While Hani has her fair share of hating school back in the day — it really was filled with nothing but good memories.
To the school in the pack, the kids hardly learn anything math or anything in accordance to that. Since they are nothing but pups, they needed to learn the basic in shifting and some values in respect and discipline.
Their real struggle in school began after they shift.
“Luna.” The principal was quick to call as she smiled. “I had heard that you would be visiting. I am glad you had the time.”
Hani smiled at her, appreciating their welcome. “I wanted to make sure that they are doing the right thing. Having complications due to their negligence in shifting is not good.”
Everyone frowned, nodding their head in submission to her words. They knew that there would be complications to the pups if they continued on being dismissive in the orders given to them. While nobody really forces anyone to shift, it would be safe to make sure that they are imposing the right emotions in the way that they would shift.
For no child wanted to see someone suddenly break down and shift before them.
Not only is that very painful, but it is very dangerous to whom was surrounding that wolf. If not shifted pups surrounded that sudden shifted pup, they would force some to react violently and shift in sight even if it’s not the right time for them to shift.
However, they could possibly not do anything but report that the kids were not responding.
After all, they do not hold the power to control what the kids needed to do. It is still in the Luna's own scope of job to path them in the right direction that they needed to comply into.
“Everyone, we have a visitor from the pack house. I am sure you will all be thrilled into meeting her!”
The kids stopped to whatever they were doing and squealed when they saw Hani. She offered them a small smile as she sat to the chair, greeting each and everyone with the same attitude as she could. Children is what would make their future and having them to be obedient and someone who holds value is very important.
Since Hani was someone who had control to how the kids react, she holds a major role in making sure that they choose the right decision.
“I heard that there would be less people who would be shifting this week, and I needed to know why that is happening.” She opened up, looking at the kids with nothing but understanding as they all looked down. They knew that she was here to reprimand them, but she was being careful into making sure that they also see valid in their choices. “Can I have some answers why some of you are not willing to?”
Nobody looked at her, as everyone was ashamed to give her one.
Noticing one kid in the pile, Hani called her. “Alice?”
“Uh…” she stated.
Hani smiled, wanting to assure them that they would not get reprimanded. “It is okay. Whatever come in your mind would be fine. I would not be reprimanding any of you. I just wanted to understand what I needed to fix.”
“I am scared… because the beta female was almost gone. From the usual training, I could feel my wolf but after that event — she was hardly even there.” Alice answered with a frown.
“And does everyone feel the same?” Hani questioned.
Every child nodded its head, seemingly worried for Nvae. Damn. Even her, who is needed to shift, was worried for her friend. Nvae was someone whom she depended on most days and to not have a rock does have its downgrade. Even if she had her mate, having her best friend does make a difference.
“I am sorry.” Kids bowed their head, in shame of their reason.
Hani shook her head, not wanting them to feel bad in reacting in such way. “It is quite okay to feel worried about her. Everyone feels the same. You do not have to feel weak or be ashamed that you feel this way. Everyone is affected by what had happened to her, you should not all feel pressure in this.”
“But will she be okay?” Alice asked.
"We all have to trust Miller, and I hope that everyone still knows that she will come back to us.” Hani replied, telling the exact thing in her mind. “But even if I understand your reasons, you cannot risk yourselves by complications if you choose to live in fear of this.”
The very reason they feel this way was because the beta female is the one who needed to guide the kids to shift. It was the reason why they feel closer to her than they would when they grow up. To have their wolves be stagnant because they could not feel her was understandable.
Hani smiled and offered her bet to make them be able to be more willing to shift than usual. “How about I watch you guys shift and help you from there? While my friend is still asleep, I would be the one standing in her position and be there in every shifting. Would that be okay and have your guys agree on having it a try?”
“Yes!” Every child cheered as they have trained with Hani on the room. Every staff inside the room was nothing but thankful to her roles.
She had to carry jobs that Nvae needed to do but she never complained. In fact, she shined in doing everything she put her mind into it. Hani had spend until the class were dismissed before visiting the mothers who needed some help with their young and those who are ready to give birth to theirs.
It was almost six in the evening when she was done with her task.
Back to her office, she was swamped with another files given from the office outside of the pack. Maddox has some companies outside that are being run by some of his workers. They had to pass some files daily to make sure that every complications are getting adhere into.
A sigh escaped her lips. It seemed like her work was never really done to begin with. Hani slowly understood why her husband was slowly losing track of time when they first got married.
.
.
Maddox nodded in agreement as he looked at his watch.
It was seven in the evening and the training just ended in a good note. Everyone was improving in their defense and he have Mason, Alexis and Steven to thank for that. To be able to see them improve in their speed and how they think inside the mat was a proud moment for him. Even if he had always been confident to his men, he does have some fair share of scare when it comes to their defense.
For years, he had trained them in the ways that he could.
However, by then — he was nothing but one who are training hundreds.
It was a very rough training by then and he could not focus on those warrior who are struggling since he could not watch them all by one.
Now, he has the three who could easily mend on most days that he has no enough time to train his men.
“They are improving in a fast pace.” Mason reasoned out.
He nodded, offering a small chuckled. “Thanks for that, Mason. I really appreciate everything you are doing for my pack.”
“You hold the kid’s happiness and so does your beta. You two are doing much that what you had given yourself credit to.” Mason smiled as she nodded. “This is nothing but child’s play. It is our job, nevertheless.”
“In the palace.” Maddox reasoned out.
Mason nodded, remembering the letter from the Queen.
He was still unsure of what he needed to do but there was something inside of him that wanted to protect the unborn child. It is like something inside of him wanted to show the Queen that they were competent and he never really realized that there was still part of him that see himself as a father for having the two princess suffer nothing but death.
“You seem really troubled about something.” Maddox noticed. "Did I offend you in mentioning the place that you used to work?"
Mason shook his head, not wanting the man to think that he was easily offended by such words. “We got some letter from the Queen. She is expecting and the three of us were on the top of the list of the guards she wanted for her child.”
“That is good, then. I am sure you three missed serving her.” Maddox agreed.
“We do.” Mason nodded, remembering the times filled with happiness but the nightmare does come by the second that he does blind himself in nothing but good news.
He frowned, noticing the frail in his voice. “But you are worried about the two women in this pack, isn't it? Especially the beta female?”
“I do not know if we could handle news about her in a different country.” Mason reasoned out.
Maddox knew that Mason was only looking for something to make them say. It was an indication that he never wanted to leave. He could not say that he understand as Hani was his mate, leaving her will never be a choice. Despite the kindness of the Queen, he will let a chance happen in which he would leave her.
Patting the man on the back, he offered a single advice. “If you are looking for more reasons to stay with them, that is already an indication that you wanted to stay. Do not make things more complicated, as it seems. As much as my mate is getting mature — so does the three of you. It is about time that you three had some free time.”
“But she also needed us.”
Maddox nodded, offering a small smile. “Nobody wanted you to choose, Mason. I am sure either party would understand your decision. Do not beat yourself up.”
How can he do that?
Mason sighed as he nodded, facing the back of the Alpha who had walked away. He knew that Maddox was right in every context. While he was looking for more ways to stay in the place, he had not realized why. When it comes to safety, both parties do have the same kind.
It just comes on whom they wanted to stay with.
Do they want to stay with the Queen… or with their little girls?
“Fuck.” Mason breathes as he closed his eyes.
Maddox reached the house while checking on his link. He had come to realize that his mate had been in a lot of places for the day and shared some laughter and happiness in the pack while he was training the warriors. She had been doing her job so effortlessly that he felt nothing but proud.
However, did she miss her dinner?
“Mildred.” Maddox called, as the woman was about to leave the kitchen. The woman smiled as she offered a small bow to the Alpha. “Did my wife already have her dinner?”
She frowned, shaking her head in worry. “I am afraid not, Alpha. She had not come down from her office and she had instructed everyone that nobody is to disturb her.”
“She is morphing into a smaller version of me.” Maddox sighed.
Mildred laughed. “I am afraid that she have, Alpha. Do you want me to cook something for the Luna?”
“That is fine.” Maddox dismissed. “I can be the one who will be preparing her something to eat.”
Since he had been having some practice into cooking for his wife, Maddox wanted her to try something he is very proud of. He had made her some Italian casserole that he knew she’d love. It took her some time to make sure that the portion was enough for them as the one he knew was fit for around ten people.
He doubts that she will finish it all up before they could go back to bed.
As soon as it was done cooling, enough for him to hold it in his hand, he had quickly walked up to his office and peek inside to see his wife busy reading through files as his other hand was quickly listing some of the few things she noticed on the files. Hani always needed to work given any situation. It’s her way to close up any worries that she had over her friend.
Her beta is acting in the same way.
“I was told you did not have your dinner yet.” Maddox muttered as he opened the door.
Whipping her head to his direction, a smile was quick to engulf her face. Maddox loved how her expression changed whenever she would see him. To see her react in the pull in such a way gives him nothing but satisfaction. Hani was the kindness woman she knew and being loved by her was something he does feel thankful as the day goes.
“You cooked something for me, that is so sweet.” She cooed as she flopped her reading glasses back on the table.
Maddox smiled as she walked out of the table and welcomed him with open arms. She never really idles and to ever let him serve her as what he always wanted. Hani always needed them to be equal in every aspect—besides strength, that is.
She smiled, kissing his cheeks. “Thank you, Maddox. This looks delicious.”
“I was sure you would love it.” He smiled.
Both shared the space as they eat his food and talked about what had happened through the day. He listened in detail to what she had done, even if her people already had him updated on what she had been doing for the day. Back when he was the one handling these affairs, it never lasted him the whole day to visit four places as he had never spend enough time to mingle with the pack members.
Even if he felt bad about the situation, everyone understood that he had a lot of tasks from before as he was handling the jobs that his Luna was doing now. Maddox has to juggle the work needed for an Alpha, Luna and a Beta Female.
It had him almost slept nothing but a wink on most days but as long as it would seek nothing but the safety and status of the pack—he always do it with not a deflecting attitude.
“What did you do this day? You seem very pleased that you had made me some dinner.” Hani asked as she prompt another serving in her mouth.
Maddox smiled. “We had everyone brawl in the training pad and corrected most of their mistakes. Calvin seemed to be getting some hardships in the training from usual so I do not understand what was happening. Maybe I was not focusing more on his defense, I needed to fix that in the upcoming training.”
Hani frowned as she felt her stomach grumble in a bad way. She had been feeling off for the whole day and she did not want her husband to see this before hand. However, no matter how much she wanted to control it — she could not stop herself.
“Are you okay, sweetheart?” Maddox questioned as soon as he noticed that her face had gone pale.
Hani nodded but she was not fooling anyone. When the feeling was nothing but unbearable, Hani put her plate back on the table as she rushed to the bathroom. Maddox was quick to follow suit, feeling nothing but worried to what was happening to her.
“Are you allergic by anything inside it or do you feel sick? I am sure that I did not put anything that you were allergic in.” Maddox questioned, offering her water. “What made you vomit all of a sudden?”
She cringed, feeling her body shake. “I’m fine.”
“Fine! You are calling that situation into a category of being fine?” Maddox screamed, clearly mortified at her trying to seem disinterested in what had just occurred. “Nobody who’s supposed to be fine would vomit her soul out to the bathroom, sweetheart. You needed to term your condition better.”
“I have been vomiting all day, it’s fine.” Hani reasoned out.
“WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY?”
She closed her eyes, realizing her mistake to what she had just uttered. Hani had made sure to visit the bathroom whenever she does and to anyone in the pack, it seemed like she only needed to relive herself. It was not her intention to tell her husband about this, as she would usually have these days where she just vomited.
It might be because of her lack of nutrient but she’s not admitting to it.
“I—ahh!” Hani squealed as she holds onto his neck, having to be suddenly lifted in his arms.
His face grew morph in a mixture of anger and worry, “What did I tell you about updating me to your health at all times!”
“Because I knew you’ll overreact!” She reasoned out.
“No s**t that I would overreact.” He grumbled, clearly not amused. “You’re vomiting, sweetheart. That’s not something that you should feel light about.”
Hani only shut her mouth as Maddox carefully carried her to the infirmary. A lot of pack members were looking at them and seemingly worried as their Alpha holds a face of someone who shouldn’t be tested. Whenever they were outside, people would always swarm them.
But it seemed like they are keeping their distance as they were nothing but afraid that something had gone wrong with his reaction.
“You’re scaring everybody.” Hani quickly reprimanded him.
Maddox glared at her. “And your negligence on your health is scaring me.”
She chuckled before kissing his cheeks. The man always does hold some suppressed anger whenever she would be dismissive of her health. It was the only thing that they would quarrel about, as she was not used with people checking up on her and for her, she had always been someone who had escaped death.
A simple cough, sneeze of flu would not stop her.
However, her husband does not see the same thing. For him, her having just a little flu would make the man drop every job he has to make sure that she was being treated well.
Maddox does treat her as a child sometimes.
“You’re so hot when you’re angry.” She whispered softly in his ear.
Maddox sighed. “That will not work when you’re sick, sweetheart.”
“Aw.” She cooed.
They arrived in the room with the man looking more worried than before. Miller, who had arrived in the same time as them, was quick to check on the Luna to make sure that she was doing fine. It didn’t really need much test as she was sure with only the answers that she had but she needed to drawl some blood to make sure.
“You are not doing this type of stunt again, sweetheart. Whenever your body reacts in a negative way, you needed to tell me.” Maddox instructed her softly.
Hani only made a face. “You’ll stop whatever you’re doing then.”
“I don’t care.” He gritted his teeth.
“You’re impossible.”
When Miller had arrived in the room, Maddox looked nothing but pale that Hani could not help but hug the poor man. His emotions towards her health had always been adorable in her eyes.
“Is everything okay, Miller?” Maddox was quick to ask.
“Not quite, Alpha.”
His eyes grew wide as his grip towards his mate had gone rough, but not in a way that she was hurt. He just needed to make sure that she was fine.
“What?” he uttered.
Miller only smiled before handing the man a piece of paper in which, inside it was the printed result of her blood test. “Congratulations, Alpha. The Luna is pregnant.”
