Handsome stranger
Ariel
* I sent three hot guys to your workplace Ari! One of them is your type! -I could hear Csaba smiling!
* Why on Earth are you doing this to me? The last one was a complete freak and I almost couldn't get rid of him. - I smirked.
* But you did! Don't worry I didn't tell them this time your name.
* Huh even better. I gotta go take care!
* You too catch them, tiger! - Csaba hang up and I pulled my tongue to my phone. He always did this to me. I sighed. Another long night here I come! I greeted Krisztián at the door and headed to my bar counter. I was doing a double shift so I started to prepare everything for tonight. Made a list of the necessary items we have to restock for tomorrow. Brought some ice, cut fruits brought a new dry ice container, and changed the barrel. A few hours later the place was crowded but luckily these clients were mostly civilized and waited patiently for their drinks since I was alone tonight it took me a little longer to prepare the drinks. Around 9,5 pm a very high and attractive guy sat down in front of me. His body was nice and muscular and his skin was like he had just come in from the sun. I couldn't see his eyes but I felt some weird attraction to him. " What the f**k? Ariel pulls yourself together"-I greeted him in Hungarian.
- Szia! Mit adhatok? - he remained in the same position. Probably he is not Hungarian okay, so what nationality can you be? Hmm... let’s try this.
- Hola! Que te puedo dar? - Still, nothing, when I was opening my mouth to ask him in English he preceded and told me.
- Sorry I am American. – I smiled and started over again.
- In this case, what can I give to you? - He looked up from the counter for the first time and it hit me like lightning. His eyes are like the deep sea on a sunny day. I wanted to dive into those perfectly blue eyes. I shook my head. But he was staring at me with probably the same face as I did a second ago. I waited a little more and enjoyed his glance but the situation started to be weird so I waved in front of his face with my hand.
- Hey mate! Are you okay? - his eyes darkened a little, now they were Prussian blue. It was strange but probably just the lights were playing with my eyes.
- Ye… yes sorry I got distracted in my thoughts - I frowned and shrugged my shoulders. At least he is not drugged. But his eyes reflected me with such a conflicted feeling. I swear they were changing from light to dark blue from happy to sad.
- No problem at all. - the music changed to Owl City Fireflies and everything seemed so magical. Like the beginning of a romantic movie. - So what would you like to drink?
- Surprise me! - I turned around and made him my specialty, which I just called mermaid kiss. It was a blue cocktail with the same colors as his eyes. Made with a touch of blueberry syrup, Curaçao, and lemonade from scratch, also a good-quality scent of vodka. It was similar to the blue lagoon Cocktail with my personal twist with the blueberry syrup which made it ombre, like my hair. I went to serve a few other clients and checked on him. He seemed to enjoy the drink and looked a little better but still sad. I approached him while I was drying some glasses.
- So rough day? – I asked and tried to figure out his feelings from the way he stared at me.
- Rough months - he said looking in my eyes and his stare made my heart beat a little faster. I cleared my throat.
- My shift ends in a few hours if you would like to talk about it just let me know - I smiled and squeezed his hand a little looking into his eyes. - After every storm comes a rainbow! - I went back to work. I was searching for him when I had a moment and always found him looking at me at the same time. I just couldn't stop myself and smiled at him with a wink. "What is this? I'm acting like I was in one of my books." My shift ended and I gave my apron to Liza, my colleague. I sat down for a little next to the bar I was exhausted. Maybe I should exercise more. I was searching for that handsome guy I met but I immediately felt like a fool. "Why am I looking for him? Like a stalker..." I smirked and was about to get up when someone put a hand on my shoulder. I turned around and almost fell off my chair. It was him. He caught me and prevented me to make a complete i***t of myself.
- Hi! - he said and his voice made me goosebumps it was recondite and deep.
- Hello! Thanks for catching me I would've listened to this all the rest of the month - he smiled a little at me and completely melted my heart, WHAT IS HAPPENING?!
- Anytime. Can I invite you for a drink?
- Actually, I don't drink but that is very kind of you – I rubbed my arm gently- Are you here alone?
- No I came with my friends.
- I don't want to steel you from them. Bros before hoes. I know the rule – I tried to joke but his expression hardened.
- Don't call yourself that way again! -He growled, looked very angry, and squeezed my arm even more. I didn't notice that he was half holding me this whole time. Wait… he growled? Probably noticed my strange expression and quickly softened his face and hold it as well.
- They are having fun and I would like to accept your offer to have chat.
- Oh, in that case, come with me there is a private terrace for the workers to relax or smoke there. It is calmer there. I got up and held his hand pulling him to the terrace. We were already in the middle of the dance floor when I realized what I was doing, but I couldn't stop there. We arrived at the terrace, the weather got a little cooler but it was still nice. I still heard a little music from inside but it mixed with Budapest's usual traffic sound. I took a deep breath and from the corner of my eyes, I saw him staring at me. His eyes were sparkling in the moonlight. I cleared my throat.
- Sorry! It is just nice to be out a little, this was a long shift. - He leaned against the railing beside me but didn't take his eyes off me.
- If you are tired and want to go home I won't stop you. - That moment his hands clenched into fists, it was like he was battling with himself. I just didn't understand why.
- No don't worry! I have time tomorrow I am not working so it doesn't matter at all. – His hands relaxed and he nodded a little.
- Your parents are probably afraid if you arrive home too late - he said, now it was my time to clench my hands.
- They are dead so they will be afraid if I arrive too early "home" -I replied with a bittersweet smile. Nice, Ariel make a joke about a tragedy, great. Now his eyes were even sadder than before.
- I'm really sorry.
- Don't worry, it’s an old story, it sucks but that is what I got. Now tell me why such a cute face is sad all the time at a boys’ night out?
