Chapter 4: Civilized Argument

Selene's P.O.V.
After Mr. Maximillian announced and introduced his niece, he dismissed us for our lunch break.
When I was about to stand, a sultry voice suddenly spoke behind me. It was no other than Celest.
"Hey Shortcake, don't tell anyone about our engagement okay? I wouldn't want to spoil my reputation with the ladies. After all, I am just getting married with someone like you." she rudely stated.
"Pfft.... Don't be so full of yourself. Like I would want to tell anybody about being engaged with someone like you. YOU egocentric, arrogant, and spoiled brat. Anyways, why are you calling me shortcake?!" I said furiously.
"Because I want to and you are so short like an itty-bitty dwarf. Besides, there is something missing with your description of me. You forgot to mention that I am sexy and rich as hell." she boastfully said.
"You know, there are more important qualities that humans should possess than being hot and rich." I said in a matter of fact.
"Like what?" she asked.
"Like having good manners and being respectful of other people." I said trying to make a point.
"That is bullsh*t and you know it; besides, I was not here just to bicker with you. I am here wasting my time talking to you because my mom said we will meet all together this upcoming weekend to talk about the wedding."
"What?! Planning the wedding already? Why is it so soon?" I said in shock.
"My mom said that we should have the wedding as early as possible" She uninterestedly said.
"Why is that? Why are they so keen to send me to hell so early? That is so unfair, don't we have any freedom of choice in this engagement?" I said irritated.
"Excuse me? Send you to hell? Did I hear it correctly? It sounds like you are telling me that you are unlucky to be marrying Me." She questioned.
"Am I not?" I said mocking.
"For your information, it is the other way around. I will be stuck with some ordinary girl like you when I can have any woman that I want"
Feeling very offended with her words, I just said;
"Whatever, I don't care about what you think. Anyways, I have to go eat, lunch break is almost over. I will be seeing you on Saturday for the planning." I said dismissively.
"Okay, whatever shortcake" Celest said before leaving.
After that very "intellectual" argument with Celest, I went to the cafeteria and tried looking for sky.
I found her sitting somewhere with our colleagues.
I do not usually eat here in the cafeteria but today, I had no choice because the conversation with Celest a while ago, took up a lot of time for me to be able to go elsewhere.
After I was able to buy my lunch, I approached the table where Sky is. I asked her if I can sit with them.
Of course, being best friends with me, she happily agreed.
While I was eating my lunch, one of my colleagues named Eve approached me.
"Hi Selene! Do you want to go with us this upcoming weekend to the club?" Eve happily asked
I once heard about a little rumor that Eve has a crush on me.
Actually, she was undoubtedly a lesbian. She was really beautiful too. I felt a little flattered that someone as beautiful as her has a little crush on me.
"No, I am sorry I cannot go clubbing this weekend. I already made plans for that day." I stated disappointedly to Eve.
"Come on Selene, you always have something to do when I invite you to join us clubbing. Come with us it will be so fun." Sky said while pouting joining our conversation.
"I'm really sorry but this time the reason is really valid. My appointment that day is really important." I said apologetically.
"It is okay Selene, I am sorry too, if I sounded like I was forcing you but as your friend, I just want you to relax and have fun for once in your life." Sky said, looking concerned.
"I know that you were just worried for me and thank you for being concerned but do not worry, I can handle it." I said trying to reassure her.
Honestly though, I prefer to read books and study or watch movies during my rare spare time anyways.
Coming from a single parent household, I had to be mature to avoid giving my mother any more problems.
So, I focused on my studies and now I am focusing on my work.
I didn't really have the time to party and chill with friends so it was not really my kind of thing.
Obviously, I am a pretty boring person.
"Okay good. Hey, we should probably go back to work; our lunch break is almost over." She told everyone.
After what she said, everybody agreed and rushed to go back to work.
