My heart was pounding rapidly when he looked at me intently, gulping when he looks so serious as he holds out to both of my hands while we're standing in the middle of the house.
What am I supposed to do in this ritual? D-Do I have to do something or anything? He gently gripped my hands, so I looked at him and he just smiled genuinely.
"Are you ready?" he asked, so I reluctantly nodded. He closed his eyes and I was astounded when both of us were suddenly surrounded by a sacred circle. It's glowing that could light up the whole house, the silvery sparkles we're floating everywhere around us.
"I, Ash Flynn Lux, a human dragon from the Ruby District, hereby present to you my mate, Hailey Nyx Jaden as we're both willing to fulfill this sacred mark, please bless thy sacred circle," he chanted before opening his eyes. I was caught off guard when I saw how majestic it looks from this close. It's glowing like starlight in the night sky that makes me feel so fuzzy on the inside.
"I promise to protect you, be with you in your worst moments, love you and death would be my punishment if I ever did something that would make you cry...In exchange for you being loyal to me as I to you," he added. I just need to be loyal...Okay, no worries I can do that.
"Your punishment would be mine to decided if you ever go against this rule," he mumbled in a deep serious tone, so I just nodded which made him smile. I thought it was already done we he talked again.
"I will now seal this sacred mark with a kiss," after he said those words, he grabbed my waist and leaned in closer to my face, and because of that, I finally had my first kiss with my eyes widened because of shock.
He pulled away from the kiss before leaning his forehead into mine, my eyes were still wide open. It almost felt like my heart wants to get out of my chest because of what just happened. Why am I feeling something really new to me...this is so odd.
D-Did he just kissed me?! He then finally opened his eyes and smiled at me intently. He looks so happy about what just happened. I immediately blushed because I couldn't say anything! I'm so out of words.
"Can I kiss you again?" he asked, which made me grunt. I immediately punch him that made him fly towards our main door. That felt good, I think I let go all my feelings in that punch.
"O-Ouch! W-What did I do now?! Don't you want to be kissed again?" I heard Ash complained, which made me really angry! He didn't even tell me that a kiss was included in that ritual! Now I know why Kathy was angry with Draven, they’re not telling what would happen!
"N-No! Y-You..you stay away from me!" I shouted at him before running upstairs to get changed into my uniform. I could feel my cheeks heat up because of embarrassment.
Why didn't he warned me about that kiss?! He should've told me so I won't be this surprised about it! I shook my head and fix my hair, after that I ran downstairs while threading my bag lightly in my shoulders.
"Nyx! Waa huhu! Wait please!" I heard him shouted before I was about to open our main door, I glared at him so he just sighed. He's in his uniform too, where did he really get those clothes really?
"I'm sorry okay? I didn't know that was your--" I raised my hand to stop him from talking. I don't want to talk about this right now.
"Stop, Let's just go to school please?" I said, so he just sighed and I was about to open the door when he gripped my wrists so tightly. I look at him only to see that he looks dead serious.
"I'm really sorry Nyx, I don't want you to feel awful about that kiss until we get to the University so I'm sorry...please forgive me," he muttered sincerely while looking straight into my emerald eyes.
"I will not do it again, but I did that earlier so we could fully fulfill and seal the sacred mark, see your mark finally appeared," he said before flipping my wrist over and I was astounded upon seeing a bold flame mark tattooed over there. He looks really surprised too upon seeing it like there's something wrong, but I didn't ask about it since I was too focused on the mark.
I immediately grasped it with my fingers and I don't know why I felt so happy seeing it. I didn't know that tears were falling against my cheeks when he wiped them with his own hands.
"Waaa Nyx! Why are you crying!? I'm really sorry okay waa!" he panicked, so I shook my head exaggeratedly and faced him.
"N-No, this is nothing...I just finally felt that I really belong into this world after seeing this mark, s-so thank you, Ash..." I mumbled, which made him smile before hugging me, pulling me close to his warm body that comforted me for a while. I didn't know that hugs could make you feel better in an instant.
"Oh, Nyx...what are you talking about? You already belong to this world the day you were born...I'm really sorry but I can hug you, right? Damn! I already had a punishment just on the first day of our ritual!" he frustratedly exclaimed, which made me chuckle. He must not make me cry he said though.
"This isn't counted...These are called tears of joy okay?" I said before he broke his hug to me, so he just sighed and nodded.
"Phew! I thought I was in trouble!" he said while exhaling out a lungful air, so I just shrugged and composed myself again. I don't know why my heart is pounding so rapidly and I don't understand why is it acting that way.
"Shall we go to University now?" I invited, so he just nodded before coming outside with me. He whistled and instantly the small dragon appeared so it could give us a ride again.
"Can I ask you something Nyx?" he asked, so I glance at him only to see that he's just looking at me intently.
"You're already asking though," I said, so he just pouted which made me chuckle for a bit. He looks weird when pouting.
"I'm kidding just go ask," I chuckled, so he immediately smiled which made me shook my head. He's a simpleton I guess.
"Are you wearing some necklace right now?" he asked, which made me flinched as I clutched the pendant inside of my uniform.
"H-How did you know?" I asked, which made him sigh in relief. What was that about?
"N-Nothing, I just guessed and always wear that okay?" he ordered, which made me really confused. Does he know anything about this necklace?
Before I could ask him the small dragon roared as it flew downwards because we're already at the University.
After we landed on the gate, Ash helped me down as he thanked the small dragon before it left. I was about to step my foot on the main entrance when I was startled by the ear-shattering voice of Kathy from afar.
"NYX!! ASH!! GOOD MORNING!!" she shouted before jumping to give me a tight hug, so I just smiled and greeted her back as we both broke our hug to each other.
"Sup Nyx," Draven greeted, so I looked at him and greeted him back.
"Good morning to you too guys, you look like you're in a great mood huh?" I teased, so she just pouted.
"Of course! I get to see my friend very early this morning! Why wouldn't I be happy?" she cheered, so I smiled as we both faced the two guys who are just currently greeting each other informally.
"Sup Ash," Draven said while offering a fist, so Ash offered his own fists back.
"Good morning Ven," he said and they both just nodded, Kathy and I laughed as we both decided to go inside of our University.
I learned that Kathy, Draven, and Ash were really my classmates until the end of this school year which made me really happy cause it felt like that this year is going to be the most memorable one for me because finally, I have a mate and friends. What could happen next right?
After we entered our classroom, lots of eyes were immediately looking at us like it's the first time they've seen us together. Some were talking and whispering at each other right after they saw me.
Is there something wrong with my face? What did I do now?
"From now on, we're going to seat from your behind," Kathy whispered, so I looked at her and she's just smiling at me. I just nodded before taking my seat.
Just when I was about to seat, my eyes glance at the door only to see that Hanna and his gang is glaring at me. Shoot! I went to school early! They'll pull some pranks on me again!
I shakily sat down as I have waited for them to do what they have to do but to my surprise, they walked away and were seated in their respective chairs.
"W-Waa! That was a miracle I guess?" I heard Kathy commented from the back, so I glance at her only to see that she has the same expression that I had after seeing them earlier at the door.
"They won't be bothering you girls for a while, just look at how this guy looks at them...Don't worry we won't let them get near to you guys again," when I heard Draven said that, I've checked to see what he was talking about and he's pointing to Ash who's just narrowing his eyes towards them.
Hanna and the rest of his friends glance on the other side to avoid his gaze, some of them look like they're trembling in fear. Just what did he say to them when I was showering yesterday?
"How dare they narrow their eyes on you, next time they'll do that I'll never let them get away with it," he mumbled darkly, so I was a bit shocked that he acted like that. This isn't his usual self I'm more comfortable in his jolly aura, it looks like he has two split personalities.
I was a bit happy too since he wanted to defend me again just in case they might do something to me, he's adapting really well to our environment. I wonder why he didn't know how to wear his clothes at first?
We all went silent right after our professor entered our room, he discussed a lot of things again but I could tell that my mind was roaming upon the bright skies.
I'm too worried about my Uncle but most especially...that kiss that we shared still didn't leave my mind.
And there's another thing that my mind can't shake off, how did Ash know that I was wearing a necklace? I haven't told him about this yet and I'm not planning to until I found something related to this.
My train of thoughts was interrupted when the bell rang, which means our class is over and we have to eat our lunches before the continuation of the Mortals and Warriors training on the field.
"Nyx, Ash let's go! Let's eat together!" Kathy called, so I just smiled and nodded before looking at Ash who is wearing his usual cheery smile again.
"Let's go? I'll treat you today right?" he happily said, so I just nodded as we four went together to the cafeteria to get our food. Right after we have gotten our food and saved our own table, a group of three men suddenly surrounded our table.
"Is that her?" the black-haired boy asked while they're all looking at something. Is that a picture?
"Hey it is her!" the blonde guy commented happily as he giddily offers his hand, "Hey pretty woman! You're Hailey Nyx Jaden, right? The famous Mortal who managed to skillfully do her training yesterday? Who blocked the fireball herself?" he asked, which made me raise my eyebrows. That's what they've heard?
I was about to say something when the red-haired guy talked, "You're his type" he muttered in a deep voice which made my eyes widened.
"A-Ahh I see...um--" I was cut off when the blonde guy wailed at the red-haired guy like a child.
"You're mean! Raze! Don't say that to her! She'll find out!" he complained, I was about to ask what they want when we're all startled upon the loud slamming of fists on the table.
I looked at Ash only to see that his head was looking down and his hands are formed into a tight grip. Shoot! Is he mad?
