After we have seated on the chairs, the class went silent like they’re really scared of what Ash told them earlier. The professor then started discussing our lesson and I can’t seem to concentrate because I kept on remembering what he announced to the whole class a while ago.
He just blurted and told everyone that I was his mate. I felt my cheeks were starting to heat up again because of embarrassment but on the inside. I don’t know why I feel so happy that he did that, it’s exhilarating. No one has ever done this to me before so it’s really fuzzy on the insides.
He’s from the Ruby District, so he’s a fire dragon…my mind and heart were dancing because of joy I can’t believe I actually managed to get myself a mate! A fire dragon! I can’t wait to tell my Uncle about this!
But if he’s a human dragon from Ruby District…how did he manage to find or look for me? And why did he came from a golden egg!? I shrugged and just focused on the discussion just before our bell rings for our break before our combat training.
The bell rang and my classmates started chattering again while going out of our classroom, I fixed my things and placed them in my bag when I saw that Ash was patiently waiting for me on the entryway.
“H-Hey? What do you want to eat?” I asked, so his eyes lit up like he’s so happy to hear those words from my mouth and went to my side to grab my bag.
“Anything as long as I’m going to eat with you!” he mumbled happily like a child again, so I just shrugged and shook my head while snatching my bag to him, but failed because he has fast reflexes and senses.
“You know that I’m not limp or crippled right? I can carry my own bag with me,” I complained while walking towards the hallway with him. This is really new to my feeling some of the students were eyeing us because I’m walking with a star and it’s starting to make me feel more uneasy.
“I know, but I want to carry it for you please?” he pleaded, so I just sighed and nodded which made him cheer in delight. I secretly smiled cause I find him too adorable at my sight.
“Can you call me again by my name?” he asked while looking at me intently, so my eyebrows furrowed in confusion. Why the heck would I call him?
“Why? Are you out of your mind?” I bit my lip, so he groaned like a kid on my side while poking my shoulders. I hope I can bear with him, I’m starting to see the sides of him that are slightly weird.
“Please! Just once call me by my name again,” he pleaded again, which made me sigh in disbelief. This man is a real piece of work.
“Ash,” I stated, so he could stop bothering me and his eyes lit up like he has heard his favorite melody from my lips.
“Waaa! My heart is beating so fast just by hearing you call me!” he cheered and he almost got the attention of the whole hallway, so I pulled his arms closer to me and used my hand to grab his lips to shut him up. I leaned in to whisper in his ear.
“Q-Quiet Ash…I’m not used to attention, so please don’t attract anyone else yet for now okay?” I whispered and pushed him back to where he was earlier, I was about to enter the cafeteria when I saw that he’s just standing in the hallway like he was shocked at what I did. He looks like he was blushing too.
What the hell happened to that guy? He’s acting weird again.
“Ash! Come on! Let’s eat or we’ll be late for our next class,” I called him out and thankfully he came back from his senses and ran towards me with a bright smile on his lips.
“Let’s go! What shall we eat?” he asked happily and I just went towards to the cashier to buy our food, I’ll treat him for now because I owe him for what he has done to me earlier.
“Two B MEAL please?” I ordered and the cashier just nodded while accepting my money, she then started to prepare our food so we went to the other side because that’s where we will claim our order.
“Hey I can pay for us both you know?” he said on my side while nudging my shoulders, so I looked at him and shook my head.
“I-It’s my way of thanking you for standing up to me…no one has ever done that to me before and also for the dragon ride,” I mumbled, slightly embarrassed because I never really told this to anyone before so he just smiled at me while patting my head which made me flinch. I’m still not used to his warm and delicate touch.
“I’ll do it always even without exchange so next time please allow me to pay for us both,” he insisted, so I just sighed and nodded.
“Yeah, of course, you will because that’s my last pocket money,” I said in a serious tone, he looked at me and heartily laughed like he has heard the funniest joke in his whole life.
“I’m not kidding,” I added, so he just laughed even more like he found me amusing to be with. I’m really not joking because that’s my last money. My attention was called and he volunteered to bring the food for both of us, so I just obliged.
When we found a table, we immediately seated there and eat. Two honey glazed chicken with two chocolate cakes and drinks, I hope he would be full in this meal. Our training later will be in the field, where everyone can practice their powers with their mates.
I’m scared and excited at the same time because I don’t know how that thing works yet, so I’m going to get my strength by eating this many.
“What’s the next class about?” he asked while he’s busy munching his food. I can feel some stares from the other table probably because of him. I just sighed, he sure does attract some crowds.
“I-It’s on the fields…we’ll practice our combat skills and be trained by our professors,” I informed him, so he just nodded while currently finishing his food. He’s really fast and I think he’s teleporting? Or I just can’t see him move that fast.
I wonder if he’s really just a fire dragon…it feels like he’s much stronger than that. I shook my head and just focused on finishing my food. When I was about to drink my lemon juice, I’ve sensed weird fast energy that was coming on my way. I was about to catch it when Ash was immediately on my side to catch that plate effortlessly using his one hand.
Some were shocked and were busy observing our surroundings when Ash carefully placed the plate on our table. His reflexes are so fast and clean, I’ve never seen anyone move this fast before he’s better than the fastest flying fire dragon in our University.
“Are you okay?” he asked while looking at me intently and I just nodded, still surprised at what I just witnessed a while ago.
“Who threw this to her?” he asked in a calm voice like he’s controlling his temper, I’ve sensed something even more fast energy that is coming straight forward us and catches it before it could even hit Ash's face. It’s a plate again I breathe in a lungful air, that was a close one! I looked at him worriedly and he looks like he was shocked at what I did.
“I-I said leave me alone!” I heard a girl shouted and all of our eyes glance at that voice and was shocked to see that there’s a huge argument between the human dragon and the mortal girl.
“No! I will not! We’re bound together okay?!” the human dragon shouted and was about to throw some plate again when Ash immediately went over there to stop the two.
“Stop that man, you almost hurt someone with this,” he mumbled while holding the hands of the human dragon. I immediately went to the side of that girl only to see that she was crying. She has bright blue hair, pure hazelnut eyes, and a mortal like me. She’s pretty.
“W-What happened?” I curiously asked, so she immediately looked at me and cried. I raised my hands when she moved and hugged me intently.
“He doesn’t want to leave me alone!” she shouted, which made me flinch so I suddenly pat her head.
“Why wouldn’t you want to leave her alone?” I glance at the human dragon and he looks pissed on Ash’s side.
“Of course, I wouldn’t! She’s my mate and she can’t get it through her thick skull!” the human dragon shouted furiously which made her cry even more. I sighed and faced the human dragon again he looks hurt seeing her cry, but his ego got ahead of him.
“Then what’s with the flying plates?” Ash asked like he’s confused and the human dragon flinched like he has felt some chills.
“I-I don’t want to hurt her…s-so I vented it out on the plates!” he explained, which made me sigh. It’s a good thing that he didn’t hurt her, but the plates could’ve hurt someone so it was still a bad idea. I faced the crying girl and she’s just clinging in my arms.
Some of the cafeteria staff asked if everything’s alright and I told them that it’s fine and we’ll deal with this. Students started murmuring about our surroundings, so I have decided to bring them to a very quiet corner of the cafeteria. Our cafeteria is big, so I think no one would notice us here.
“H-Hey…what’s your name?” I curiously asked, she stopped crying while looking at me. Her human dragon mate offered me some hanky and he’s gesturing me to give it to her. I smiled at him and just nodded.
I gave her the hanky and she gladly accepted it to blow her nose out and wipe her tears “I-I’m Katherine Tales, eighteen, a mortal…you can call me Kathy,” she muttered, so I just nodded.
“I’m Hailey Nyx Jaden, just Nyx is fine,” I smiled, so she just nodded while playing with her fingers. She’s just my age, but she acts like Ash. A childish one.
“I believe that you two had a misunderstanding…I think you should talk it out…what’s your name?” I asked her human dragon, so he just sighed.
“I’m Draven Woods, nineteen, a human dragon from the Diamond District and she’s my chosen mate,” he muttered and was about to offer his hands to me when Ash stopped him.
“Ash Flynn Lux and she’s my mate,” Ash said while looking at me before glancing at him like he’s warning him and Draven just nodded exaggeratedly. What’s up with those two?
“Don’t worry I’m smitten with my own mate, she’s just um…what do you call this? Ahhh! She’s been avoiding me for days now after our ritual!” Draven muttered like he’s really confused about it. He’s currently glancing at his mate who is hiding behind my back like she’s shy or scared. He looks like he really cares for her.
“But you both have the sacred mark and bonds already…you both successfully did the ritual then why is she acting this way towards you?” Ash asked him, so he just sighed. I glance at their wrists only to see that they both have a thunder tattoo over there. Woah! It looks so cool!
I wonder what symbol I would bear on my wrist if we ever did the ritual that they were talking about? I shook my head and listened when Draven talked.
“That’s just it! I can’t understand her, she’s sometimes like this…I wish she would tell me because I’ll gladly listen to her, I just don’t want her to push me away,” he muttered like he’s really frustrated about it, so I faced the girl and confronted her.
“You heard him…so what’s the problem?” I asked, so she just whimpered and sighed while playing with her fingers.
“I-It’s just that I’m scared that he might leave me…there are too many beautiful girls out there other than me…so I want to push him away for me not to get hurt,” she explained, which made the human dragon shook his head and sighed.
“That will never happen I’m only drawn to you Kath…I’ll never eye someone else other than you so please put that permanently in your precious mind,” Draven said while walking towards her and carefully lifted her hands to hold it.
“R-Really? Promise?” she asked and he just nodded before they hugged each other. I smiled at the sight and my senses felt an eye that is staring at me, so I looked at Ash and it looks like he’s asking for something.
“Can I also get a hug from you please?” he pleaded with his puppy eyes on, I glared at him and he just laughed.
“Our work here is done let’s get to class,” I muttered and walked with him to the fields.
