After that embarrassing encounter with Ash, I calmed down and he continued giving me some tissues and clothes so I could wipe my tears away which I really appreciated. He also keeps on saying sorry because he touched me without my consent, it’s like he’s really afraid to touch me and he looks really worried about me but I’m okay now.
We are now deciding where to sleep, my room is really small for two people, we could actually fit but he’s too tall and big plus I’m not comfortable sleeping with him yet in one room. I still don’t trust him that well, some part of me wants to trust but I still can’t shake these uneasy feelings.
He still hasn’t told me what kind of dragon is he, if he will not tell me then I’ll find it out myself. I sighed, I’m just really glad that my uncle isn’t here right now or everything will be worse than this. I ordered him to clean up his golden egg and I don’t know where he had placed it but I’m just glad that my room is clean.
“Hey, Nyx! Where am I going to sleep?” he happily asked while he keeps on poking my shoulders consistently with his one finger which made my eyebrows furrow. That was really irritating.
“Downstairs,” I mumbled, which made his eyes widened. I can’t let him see me cry again. I can’t be weak, I have to be strong.
“B-But why? We’re supposed to be together!” he complained like he’s really against it, so I just sighed and offered him some blankets and pillows.
“I-I can’t just trust you yet, I’m scared…enemies are just around us and you could be one of them I’m sorry but please just give me some more time,” I admitted, which made him stop and lowered his head for a moment before nodding, he accepted my pillows and blanket not eyeing my gaze which made me feel really guilty.
He looks hurt and rejected, my heart was almost shouting to let him stay. When he stopped at the door I waited, he then faced me with a smile on his thin pink lips.
“Good night Nyx, see you tomorrow,” he mumbled softly and left not waiting for me to respond maybe because he knew I wouldn’t talk either.
I sighed as I went towards to lay down on my bed, my thoughts were flying around on the thin air and it’s preventing me to sleep immediately. My head can’t shake off the image of him smiling even though I know he isn’t that happy. I shook my head and close my eyes, pretending that all that has happened earlier was just a dream.

“Nyx…where are you?”
That voice, it sounds so familiar that was the voice I also heard that was calling to me…it sounds like he was really agitated from what is happening to him.
“Nyx…I’m afraid I don’t want to lose you,” he sounded like he's about to cry, which made me worry. I wanted to ask what’s wrong, but I can’t seem to utter any words.
“Nyx…why did you leave me?” he asked, which made me really confused. I didn’t leave anyone I know for sure.
Images of unknown creatures started to flash on my mind telling me that something is going to happen real soon that I need to worry about. I got scared when I saw some familiar silver eyes that are starting to change all black that scared me.
“Nyx…wait for me”
“Nyx,”
“S-Stop please,” I muttered finally.
“Nyx!”
“Nyx wake up please!”
I slowly opened my eyes and I saw the worried face of Ash while he’s currently shaking my shoulders violently. It was just a nightmare…but that voice sounded like Ash too. Why is that man looking for me?
“Thank God you woke up, I was really worried…you were having a bad dream are you okay?” he worriedly asked, which made me look up to him as I touched my chest. It was pounding so rapidly like I was being chased for my death.
“Y-Yeah I’m fine, T-Thank you,” I sincerely thanked him, which made him sigh and hugged me again. I suddenly felt at ease and didn’t mind that he’s hugging me again…his touch is always so comforting like I’ve been longing for it all my life. Strange.
“I’m sorry if I couldn’t protect you from your nightmares,” he said, he sounded so frustrated about it before breaking his hug to me.
“I-I’m alright I just got…hey wait a minute, what are you doing inside of my room?” I asked suspiciously, so he suddenly raised his hands while scratching the back of his neck.
“I-I just got here I swear! I felt and heard that you’re having a bad dream so immediately went here to wake you up…you were grunting and your sweats were massive,” he explained while looking straight into my eyes, so I narrowed my eyes to him while nodding. I have no power to argue first thing in the morning plus I owe him because he woke me up on that disturbing nightmare.
I slowly yawned and fixed my long wavy hair on the side before getting out of my bed, I stretch some of my sore joints and noticed that he was eyeing me intently like he was enthralled by something.
“What?” I asked, so he flinched before looking at me again shaking his head while smiling. My heart skipped a beat upon seeing his morning face and some messy bed hairs, he really looks so handsome.
I thought what happened last night was a dream but I guess it wasn’t, do I really have a mate now? I shrugged and fixed my bed.
I immediately went downstairs to do my chores and make our breakfast. I decided to go with grilled buns since this is the only food that we can have for this morning. I took a bath and ironed my uniform.
After I wore my uniform and fixed my hair, I went downstairs to eat our breakfast only to see that he’s waiting for something there patiently as he plays with his hands.
“Hey? Why didn’t you eat yet?” I asked while sitting right in front of him, he just smiled upon seeing me and started to get some buns, eggs, and cheese on his plate.
“I’m waiting for you so we could eat breakfast together,” he mumbled, which made me stop. That was kind of sweet. I secretly smiled and started to eat my own food.
“Do you want some coffee or hot chocolate?” I asked, but he just shook his head while pointing out the glass of water on his side so I just nodded.
“Are you going somewhere Nyx?” he curiously asked which made me stop, swallowing my food before answering him.
“Yes…I have school at the Draconis University,” after I said that, he stopped and looked at me intently.
“Please let me go with you!” he begged on the other side, which made me really surprised. I put down my buns as I looked at him, he looks desperate.
“You can’t…you need to have your own uniform and you must be registered over there,” I explained, I was glad because the tuition over there was really expensive, but since I was gifted with wisdom and strength by my mom and dad. I managed to claim their full scholarship, it’s also the only way that I could help my uncle.
“That’s not a problem I have my own ways just let me come with you please,” he mumbled on his knees so I stopped and just nodded because he really looks desperate about it. I wonder how would he able to go there? I shrugged and went to get my bag upstairs after eating, I was astounded when I saw him downstairs wearing the boy’s black uniform.
“W-Where the hell did you get that?” I surprisingly asked and he just smiled at me intently while gesturing to go out with him.
“I told you I have my own ways. Yay! We can go to school together!” he mumbled happily before running outside of our house while cheering like a kid. I shook my head, is that guy really my mate? How did he even get those uniforms? He’s really a bit suspicious.
After I locked our house, we both walked towards the school, I glance at him and it looks like he was wondering why I was walking towards there so he decided to ask me.
“Hey Nyx, why are you walking? Isn’t the University from the other side of the Mortal District gate?” he asked, so I just sighed.
Emerald, Sapphire, Diamond, Ruby, and Mortal District have different kinds of special gates before we could even reach the center of our world to where our school is located. It was made to bring or send signals from the different districts when the danger has occurred so they could help if the gates were destroyed.
It isn’t that far from our house, just a one-hour walk.
“I don’t have any money to afford the ride, I’m sorry but we have to walk from here to there,” I shyly mumbled, so he just looked at me and then he suddenly disappeared, I panicked. What the freaking hell? Did he just vanish into a thin air?!
He suddenly appeared again with a cute dragon with wings on his side that looks like it can carry us both, what the…hell?! How did he do that?!
“Here! Let’s ride this Nyx come on! I don’t want you to be late!” he beamed before placing me on the dragon’s saddle.
“H-How did…how did you do that? What are you?” I curiously asked so he stopped before smiling at me. He moved his lips closer to my ears which made me shiver. My hands were shakily stopping his hard chest from getting anymore closer.
“I'm just that fast so it's really hard to see me clearly when I ran and it’s for you to find out…Nyx,” he mumbled in a deep serious voice which made my heart pound rapidly like I was being chased for my death. That isn’t his usual voice and I’m sure as hell that it really sent some disturbing chills again down to my spine.
He put some gap again between us before smiling again, “Now let’s go!” he cheered happily before jumping on the saddle on my back, the dragon roared like he got what he means. The cute dragon started flapping its wings that send us up into the bright blue sky.
I was astonished by the eye-catching view on the sky that I haven’t seen for a long time now, there are different kinds and colors of a dragon that are flying everywhere against the enormous blue sky, the fresh air that is currently slapping our face and skins made myself realize that I was longing for it for some time now.
“You shouldn’t be missing this wonderful view every day Nyx, it will make your day better even though everything you see down below is worse…I always wanted to do this with you but I hope next time… it’s me who you will ride in too,” I heard he whispered the last words that he has said that confused me, but I just nodded at him.
“T-Thank you,” my mouth suddenly blurted out, but I don’t know why I said that. Why am I thanking him? For the ride? For his presence? Being my mate? I don’t know.
Maybe I wanted to thank him because I’ve always wanted to feel the freedom of flying again with a dragon with someone.
I gasped when he suddenly wrapped his toned arms around my waist from my back before resting his chin on my neck which made me shiver. I gulped when the sparks suddenly ignited again to my whole body just because of his touch.
“H-Hey stop…what are you doing?” I asked, trying so hard not to stutter because my heart was pounding so rapidly against his touch.
“Don’t worry…from now on we’ll be riding dragons to the University...Nyx,” he muttered against my ear which made me flinched. I softly pushed him away so he just laughed which made me shook my head. I can't believe he knows how to tease somebody.
I slowly eyed him from the back and he’s just smiling from ear to ear. What an odd guy.
