I was currently bragging about my outstanding performance earlier with Draven and he just keeps on praising me nonstop which made me really happy, we both decided to watch how Nyx dodge her own fireballs. I was cheering at her silently because she’s so amazing!

How did she manage to learn the backflip and 360 degrees spin stunts in just a week?! We were just taught how to do that last week ago! She’s so flexible! I saw her always training on her own before and she’s one of the students in our class who excels in combat fights, I think that’s one of the reasons why she was being bullied because even on our paper exams she excels which made some of our classmates envy her.

They have decided to bully her since she doesn’t have a mate yet and for me. I think she’s really trying so hard to learn how to protect herself because she’s alone yet. I really admire her…I regret not approaching her earlier. She’s a really nice person.

I was about to run towards her to celebrate when the cannon fired again that made Draven pull me on his side to protect me.

“Stay close to me Kath there’s something odd here, it should be three fireballs only…” Draven muttered, which made me gasp. We’re currently watching the ball when I realized that the fireball looks so real! It is real!

“Professor! Stop it, please! Nyx get out of there! It’s a real fireball!” I shouted worriedly, which made some of the students look at me. Some of them panicked and ran really far away from the right and left sides.

Nyx tried to get away from there when she realized that it’s following her, she stopped and just positioned herself in the middle. The fire is growing bigger and bigger while it's going after her.

“T-The fireball is following her Drave! That’s crazy!” I exclaimed, so Draven just nodded while holding me tightly. I looked at the professor only to see that he’s calling someone from the Leaders.

I was nervous and I want to help Nyx when I saw that her sword suddenly melted because of the fire, I screamed when it was about to hit her when a bright light suddenly enveloped her. We closed and blocked our eyes because the light that was emitting on her was almost blinding everyone.

My eyes widened when the light and fireball disappeared immediately and we’re all shocked to see Ash on her front with his arms was slightly burnt.

How did he do that? I forgot the district he came from. Was it Ruby District? I shook my head and looked at them, Ash worriedly touched Nyx before hugging her tightly. Thank God they’re okay!

“Nyx! Ash!” I shouted and Draven let me go before going after them. The professor appeared and went after them too. I increased my pace when I saw Nyx lost her consciousness.

“Waa! Nyx!” I shouted worriedly which made me stop when I saw Ash carried her like his injury on his arms was nothing to him. It looks like it was healing on its own…or was I just hallucinating?

“She must’ve been too shocked to what has happened please take her to the infirmary then we’ll talk about this, I’ll just call the Leaders about this matter,” the professor said before leaving us. It was silent for a moment when Ash decided to talk.

“Hey um Katherine…is it okay if you can get Hailey’s things on her locker? I’ll just take her to the infirmary,” Ash asked and he looks so cold unlike his personality a while ago. He changed a bit and it’s giving me some chills at the way he stares at us, so I just nodded. He must’ve been so worried about his mate.

“I-I will get it! We’ll be there fast!” I glance at Nyx and she looks really exhausted to what has happened. I hope she will be okay.

I dragged Draven with me and we’re currently walking together side by side, Draven looks so deep in thoughts so I tried to get his attention.

“Draven, what’s wrong?” I asked him worriedly, so Draven just looked at me before smiling and patting my head.

“It’s nothing it’s just that, it’s the first time that I saw someone fully performed a perfect barrier to protect their mates in their human form, even our professors couldn’t even do that properly,” Draven brought up like he’s still thinking about it. That bright light was a barrier? I didn’t even saw it.

Ash really looks strong and his vibe is kind of scary, but he’s nice I know for sure. He’s just protective of Nyx that’s why he’s acting like that.

“I think he’s really a talented human dragon from the Ruby District…Nyx was very lucky to have him because if he didn’t butt in over there she could’ve been hurt badly or worse,” he didn’t continue the last words he was about to say, but I know what he meant.

Nyx could’ve died to what has happened waaaaaaaa! I wonder what happened to that post cannon? Why did it suddenly fire again? And it’s a real fireball! The Leaders must do something about this! We have five Leaders in our University in each District, they help on managing each and everyone’s concerns and they’re the most powerful human dragon in our whole world.

Draven waited outside as I hurriedly went inside of the girls changing room to get Nyx’s things and clothes, some girls are talking secretly on the side which made me accidentally heard what they were talking about.

“Did you saw that bright light?” the first girl talked that piqued my interest. I did saw it too! I was busy getting Nyx’s things when I decided to listen to them.

“Yeah, we did, what about it? They keep on saying that it’s a very powerful barrier which is summoned when you want to protect your mate so badly,” the other girl said, which made me squeal mentally! Of course, Ash would do it for Nyx!

“Yeah, but we heard that they haven’t successfully done their rituals yet…they don’t even have the sacred mark and bonds on each other’s wrists,” the first girl muttered which made me gasp. They’re right! I haven’t seen or noticed one on their wrists.

“What?! Do you mean—” the third girl was cut off when the first one talked again.

“Yes! If they haven’t done the full ritual yet successfully, that handsome guy wouldn’t be able to do it for her…isn’t it kind of odd?” the first girl said, which made me hurry to get her things and get out of there.

Was that true? That barrier can only be done perfectly if both mates were fully done with the ritual? I bumped into some hard built and before I could even fall some warm long hands suddenly wrapped against my waist. I blushed upon seeing his face.

“Careful Kath, what took you so long and what are you thinking?” Draven then asked immediately, which made me sigh.

“Is it true that a human dragon can only perform a perfect barrier if they did their ritual successfully with their mates?” I asked so Draven’s eye widened like he was shocked that I was interested in this kind of thing.

“Yes, but not all human dragons can do this, some might be able to but they can’t successfully wield it like what Ash did earlier…on my part, I haven’t successfully practiced it yet so I’m going to train so that I might be able to protect you,” he mumbled, which made me smile.

“Do you think Ash and Nyx have finally done the ritual for the sacred mark and bonds?” I asked him and he looked at me like he’s confused but he just answered.

“Well yeah I guess, he wouldn’t be able to do that if they haven’t…Nyx must be so strong too that he was able to perfectly wield that barrier,” he commented, which made me think again. I haven’t seen some marks on their wrists, I know for sure.

The powerful connection between human dragons and mortals will depend on both individuals, if you’re both powerful then your connection will be solid as it is but if not, it will be hard at first but it can change if both of you are training together. Draven was helping me to train ever since he talked to me last week. I kind of having a hard time practicing my speed and he’s very patient in teaching me.

I shook my head and decided to run towards the infirmary where I found Ash is currently waiting for Nyx to wake up patiently on the couch. He looks so worried but I think he’s also deep in thoughts.

“Um…Ash, we brought her things,” I mumbled trying to call his attention which made him look up to us and smiled. Good, I thought he’ll never notice us because I almost slammed the door wide open and he didn’t even budge.

“T-Thank you, do you also want to wait here for her?” he asked, so I just nodded while pulling Draven beside me before sitting on the other cushion. I was currently arranging her things on her side when Ash talked again.

“Do you mind if I ask you guys to wait here until she wakes up? I have important matters needed to be taken care of because of the Leaders,” he informed us like he’s really pissed, which made me nodded.

“It’s okay! Since our classes were already over, we’ve got nothing to do other than trying to train with each other at home,” I said while smiling, causing him to half-smile.

“I’m sorry…I’m really just waiting for you guys because I don’t want to leave her alone and please do tell her that I’ll be back as soon as I can if she ever wakes up without me,” he sounded apologetic, so I just nodded again.

“Go ahead man, I’ll take care of these two,” Draven said, Ash glance at him and smile before leaving us on the infirmary. He’s smiling, but it doesn’t even reach his cheeks.

“He looks really worried,” I frowned, which made Draven sigh before moving to my side.

“If ever that happens to you, but I hope not though...I would be like him too,” he mumbled like he’s jealous, so I laughed which made him pout even more.

I looked at Nyx and she’s just peacefully taking her rest, my eyes move at her hands that are currently clasp against each other. I don’t know why I got curious about checking it if they really have done the ritual. I shook my head and sigh, I must be losing my mind I can’t believe that I’m believing those rumors!

“Okay, what’s bothering you?” Draven asked, which made me flinch so I faced him while scratching my head.

“U-Uh nothing? Hahaha!” I nervously said, and I almost wanted to scold myself because I was stuttering. I’m such a bad liar huhuhu!

“We’ve talked about this earlier right? I want you to tell me what’s wrong,” he ordered, so I just sighed and told him everything that is bothering me.

I was insecure about our relationship before that’s why we ended up quarreling in the cafeteria. It happened when he talked to me in the garden last week ago while I was busy admiring my newly bloomed flowers and fragrant roses that I planted.

The garden is where I always go whenever it’s our break time or if I went to school very early…I’m scared to be bullied because I’m also one of their targets like Nyx does.

I remembered that time when he casually said hi to me, he continued visiting me in my garden for a week so I learned a lot of things about him, he’s a powerful human dragon from the Diamond District, he also taught me some foot works when he learned that I’m having a hard time practicing my speed. He’s a really nice guy and a handsome one too.

I just really can’t believe that he chose someone like me, a weak, ignorant mortal who doesn’t have any friends. At first, I thought he was just trying to be my friend so I was really excited to see him every day.

I didn’t understand what he said and just said yes when he asked if I want to be his mate, I thought I heard that he wanted to be my friend so I was really shocked when were both suddenly surrounded by the sacred circle, he was chanting some words that I found really familiar…and I almost hated him when he suddenly kissed me, he took my first kiss! I was really furious so I ignored him for a week.

He told me that it's a way to seal the ritual but it's my first kiss! He lost his patience back in the cafeteria hours ago.

“I see, why don’t you just ask her yourself? She’s your friend now right?” he said right after I have told him, so I just nodded while pouting.

“She might think I’m meddling too much on her own business, I don’t want her to think of me that way,” I said, so he shook his head.

“She won’t think like that okay?” he cheered me up, so I just smiled and nodded. If there’s one thing that I like about Draven it’s his words that always comfort me whenever I feel uneasy about something.

I’m really lucky that he had chosen me so I’ll work harder to strengthen our bond so he wouldn’t be disappointed in me.
