Bee led the way back to our hotel, but on the walk I sidled up to Alex. My eyes flickered down to his coat where he had caused the dagger to disappear. There was no one around that I could see, but I still lowered my voice to a whisper. “So where’d you hide that dagger?”
“I merely allowed it to return to the ether,” he told me.
I blinked at him. “Come again?”
Bee looked over her shoulder at us. “Whatever secrets he has shouldn’t be revealed here, Jane. He can tell us when we get back to our rooms.”
