8 On the drive home, Winnie could feel the headache building in her skull. Being so close to evil had its effect. She wasn’t sure what she expected to learn tonight. But it felt important to see the Kladers in person. “How much proof do you need if you want to cancel your contract with Klader?” Winnie asked. “Because we already know the man is poison.” “I can’t just say I don’t like him—” “Or trust him,” Winnie added. “I can’t back out unless I have a legal reason.
