April is no longer at the front desk. She really did quit working for Brent. I have no idea why, but I don't bother wondering about it. I have more pressing issues to think about. Madison smiles politely. "Mrs Miller, Miss-" "Just Victoria." Tori cuts her off. "We're here to see Brent." Her eyes fleet over me before she nods. "By all means." We step past her desk to the door, and I take a deep breath before I push it open. The palpitating of my heart is gone, and in it's place, a big lump of ice has formed over my heart. I feel nothing but aloofness and a deep sense of hatred. Brent is seated on his swivel chair, the office telephone pressed in his ear, and he's having a heated argument over some deal that went sour.
