Chapter 4

3054 Words
Sienna's POV Asher raises his hand and everyone stands again. I look around to find Avery but I guess she is still invisible with her spell. But I know there was her hand in this win too. "The beta, please?" Asher shouts. And I see Roger walk towards Asher with his head still low. Because now even if he doesn't like, Asher is his new Alpha. He is left with no other option. "Now that your Alpha is dead, what do you think?" I hear Asher ask him. Ivan and I walk towards Asher. And I scan the crowd to find my father. Being the Gamma he is, he is helping injured with what little medical knowledge he has. And he is sending severely injured to the hospital with the help of the medic team. Sometimes, I am just so proud of him I wonder if I could do at least half good. Roger looks at me and then at Asher before talking. "My Alpha is dead. So I think I would like to say," he pauses,"f**k you" Asher smirks but I take no bullshit. In two quick strides I stand before Roger and he is suddenly withering in pain on his knees. I grab his head and rip that off his body. I throw it aside and look at everyone. No one would like to oppose. That is very nice. "Now, The Gamma. Would you like to answer well or join your Alpha and Beta?" I hear Ivan scream. A man who is in his twenties stands up and introduces himself as Jake, the Gamma of Yellowstone pack. "Tell me about your pack's stats" Asher orders. Jake bows once and stands straight again. "The Yellow Stone Pack is now considered the second largest and next powerful pack. Alpha Nathaniel always cared for the win against the Crimson Moon Pack. Beta Rogers is a womanizer and our pack is still striving so I guess one can actually call the pack as self made" he says. Impressive. Asher looks at Ivan and he nods. Then he looks at me but I look at my father. No matter how skilled I am or how close I'm to Asher, my father is still the Gamma and I don't have a say in pack issues. My father quickly jogs to the scene and Jake looks a little confused. I take a step back and let my father stand beside Asher. "I would agree to whatever you decide on, Alpha" my father says. Asher nods and he looks at me to which I just shrug. He nods and looks at Jake. "To the self made pack, I give the option of decision" Asher shouts making everyone look at him in confusion. Now that has everyone's attention. "You choose your own Alpha. An Alpha who takes care of the pack and not just a win over another Alpha. Someone who is loyal to you people first, and power next. The ultimate decision is yours. Your pack is self made as you claim, and now show me how" Asher smiles. I hear Yellow Stone Pack members roar and clap. I smile looking at them and then at Asher who is smiling too. I see my father look at Asher with pride in his eyes too. Another reason why Asher is loved, he acts like people's Alpha. "We choose you" they all shout in unison again. Asher laughs a little and raises his hand making them calm down. Everyone settles in a minute and he looks around with a smile. Majority of Rogues died and a little of Yellow Stone Pack army. Asher ended the war before more blood shed. "I have another pack to take care of. A pack where random wars like this always take place. So it would be a burdensome task to be an Alpha of two packs, but I would definitely be your mentor. Choose an Alpha and we can be allies" Asher says. And I see smiles on everyone's faces again. Few minutes later everyone choose their Gamma Jake as their new Alpha and left the borders ready to start the Alpha title rituals. Everyone present here is smiling and it is all because of Asher. Good thing he did not let Dash take over. Not that Dash is the bad guy,but he can be a little hard headed as an Alpha wolf. Asher leans towards the sweeter side. "Where's Avery?" I ask Asher. "Who ca-" Just as we are walking, Avery shows up and I feel like I just dodged a bullet. I might be fierce in war but at sensitive topics like this, I go dumb. And I know Asher well than anyone else. He was about to ask back who cares? "Thanks for helping today, Avy!" I smile and hug her. Asher just nods as he acknowledges her help. Avery follows my father since it is slowly starting to get awkward for her too. Ivan, Asher and I walk to the hospital to visit the injured. We all take different direction and I console people who have lost their dear ones. We lost five of our warriors today and I quickly find Asher. Because when a pack member dies, the Alpha experiences pain as their bond slowly cuts off. I find him sitting in a corner in a chair with a small bottle of water in his hand. He is just staring at the floor and I see blood on his hands and clothes. Not his blood, of course. I sit beside him and he gives me the bottle of water. I take two gulps and sigh. "No matter how much I try, I am unable to stop this cycle" Asher finally speaks. "Every time there is this Crimson Ritual happening, there is bloodshed. Lives lost. Packs damaged. War zone. I have been witnessing this endless cycle ever since I can remember. And being an Alpha, even then I couldn't stop this" he whispers. I place a hand on his shoulder and pull him closer. "You are an Alpha to such pack, Asher. The Moon Goddess chose you to protect this land. To guard from every other supernatural creatures. And when there is something powerful, there is also sacrifice. It is nature, Ash. There is a price for everything" I whisper. I feel him hug me back and I stay silent. He is silently grieving. And I do nothing to stop him. In fact, I want him to let all of that out. "How did Avery help today?" Asher asks as he pulls away. "Ah! She went invisible for a while. Killed a few. I believe she is also the one who inflicted pain to Roger when he disrespected you" I tell him. "Why?" Asher asks being all clueless. Seriously? How is he a grown ass man and an Alpha when he cannot even take hints that I am trying to show him too? "He disrespected you. Duh!" I roll my eyes. "Oh please. I am hungry. I want to leave" Asher says. I nod and we start walking towards my house. Asher has his clothes there. If I have to be honest, my house is Asher's second home. And the pack house is my second home. Our parents made sure of that. "Why do you keep pushing someone away when all they want to is get closer?" I ask him. "Let us save this talk for when I want to ruin my mood" he says as he nods at people who are bowing to him. I let it slide. I roll my eyes and silently walk with him as we debate on our outfits for the Crimson ritual. Yes, we are twenty four year olds but we still get excited when we hear the world new clothes. Asher and I grew fond of fashion and we would often describe what type of clothes we would like to wear on occasions. Then Alpha Gregory Nelson used to make designers design clothes exactly like that for us. Sometimes, they would turn out weird. Mostly Asher's because in his mind, he would feel it would be cool but in reality, the colour combination would come off a bit awkward. "Any scratches?" My father asks as we walk in. "Nope. And still won" Asher answers. "Oh! I thought the question was directed towards your daughter. Thanks by the way" I tell my father and I see him smile. I walk upstairs. And I have a quick shower. But by the time I walk downstairs, Asher and my father are talking about something so excited. It reminds me of days we three debating on football games. We often loved watching them but how we grew up and responsibilities ate most of the time. "Any room for me?" I ask as I walk towards them. My father looks inside of his pockets, behind the couch and then looks at me shrugging. I roll my eyes as I walk into the kitchen to see my mother humming to a song and cooking dinner. "It is rice, chicken and salad today" Mom says and I see Avery chopping cherry tomatoes probably for the salad. "Need any help?" I ask her. "No, Avy is helping. But thanks sweetie" mom smiles. "Since when am I the outcast in my bloody home?" I huff. I walk to the living room and sit on the chair before my father and Asher. It is then I listen that they are talking about the vampires we killed earlier. Zane and Beatrice, I guess. "Oh the guy had something for Sienna. I looked at it in his eyes!" Asher says. "Oh please, Asher! You are just exaggerating" I roll my eyes. "Nah uh! You should have seen the way I see. That guy would have totally flirted if you gave him a chance" Asher says. And I notice Avery setting the dining table and in a safe distance where she can see and hear us. "Yeah, I would say the same thing. You should have seen the way I see" I smirk. Asher narrows his eyes at me. He turns around to see Avery and then looks at me. He then shows me his middle finger making me laugh. And my father is just looking at us with the same ol expression that screams.. these children, duh! When my father looks at me, I tilt my head towards Avery. His mouth forms an O as he looks at Asher. "Please!!" Asher dramatically throws his hands in air. "Dinner is ready! All of you get your asses over here" mom screams and Asher is the first one to run to the dining table. "Avery?" Dad asks again and I nod. "Then why is Asher pushing her away?" Dad whispers so low. "The typical Asher. He is that way since we all lost Madeline" I tell him and he nods. Madeline was dearest to all of us. She was a very lovely girl. Everyone thought Asher and her fit together perfectly. Moon Goddess indeed has other plans. Mom serves to us first and then joins us. But we all start eating only after she sat with us. And we dig into our food soon. My mother, the Gamma female of the pack is also the medical head. She was the former pack doctor but now she is the head. Every high ranked member is assigned with a role that they can play well. "So the crimson ritual is just day after tomorrow. Excited, anyone?" Mom asks. "Me!" Avery says. Because this is the first time she would be witnessing the ritual. Asher already took the lead once when he was nineteen. And now five years later, once again. Avery and us are friends since a couple years so she hasn't witnessed the ritual. "When are your parents coming back?" My father asks Asher. "When they want to. They feel this is their second honeymoon stage" Asher says as he chews a piece of chicken. "Oh! I remember our couple honeymoon days. Your parents and us. We had the time of our lives!!" My mother squeals. Asher and I look at each other and slightly shake our heads. We heard those stories too many times. They were the rockstar couples who brought the honeymoon tradition to werewolf land. It was a human thing before but later it became werewolf thing too. And their destination was Spain. "Irony they are at Spain now" Asher smiles. "Awww" Avery says and Asher just looks at her. They awkwardly nod at each other making Hayley and I roll our eyes. Hayley is not a huge fan of awkward talks and stupid reasons. The rest of the dinner goes by as we hear stories through dad and mom while Asher and Avery exchange awkward glances. Dad and I occasionally looked at each other and smiled at the situation. Asher goes back to pack house despite all our attempts to make him stay here tonight. He is just so different around Avery. "Sienna, sweetheart. How about a walk?" I hear my father and I hop as I run from kitchen to living room where he is already waiting for me to join. "Avery?" My father asks. "No. I would like to stay back with Mrs. Jones" Avery smiles. "Oh please. Call me Michelle" my mom smiles at Avery. Dad and I slip our shoes on and start walking towards the borders. This is the last patrol round of my father for the day, but we always liked to call it a walk after dinner. I was so little when we started this and I wouldn't understand what patrol means. "So, how is everything?" Dad asks. "Everything great except the fact that Ivan thinks Asher and I have something going on" I tell my father. He laughs as he looks at me but we still keep walking. Occasionally looking around to see any threat. Because the crimson ritual is so close, there might be enemies at any moment. "Not just Ivan, there are many who thinks that way" dad finally speaks. "What the f-" "It is because they never really saw any friendship so pure like yours. As your father, I know what Asher is to you and vice versa. I am not going to pay attention ,but the world is still going to pay attention Sienna" dad says. I nod. "Also, just because the world is paying attention doesn't really mean you should stop doing what makes you happy. When you both know what you are to each other and ask the whole world to zip up" dad smiles at me pulling me to him. He hugs me sideways and I feel the familiar warmth. "I am sorry, dad. I am still not a Gamma" I whisper as we take a turn towards the west borders. "Oh you don't have to be sorry. Not finding your mate is not your fault. You even tried your luck at various packs but you just did not find. Moreover I am still fine being the Gamma. Moon Goddess has other plans, I believe" Dad says. She has other plans? I highly doubt it. I am twenty four. Even eighteen year old girls in this pack have their mates and I am still mate less. I don't know how that is a plan of Moon Goddess. Dad and I talk about everything starting from The Ellen Show to the football games. And when we reach home, Mom and Avery are already sleeping. Dad kisses my forehead before walking into his room. I take a shower before falling on my bed. "You asleep?" Asher's voice rings in my head making me startle. Because this is such an odd hour and this man is creepy. "Yep. What? Cannot sleep, so you want me to play the entertainment girl?" I ask him back. "I am sorry is that supposed to make me laugh?" He asks making me roll my eyes. "Anyways, there is an emergency and I will be leaving to human land the first thing in the morning. Take care of yourself and the pack" he says again. "Can I come, Ash? Please? I have never been to human lands" I mindlink him. "When the ritual is over, I will take you for sure. But now is not the time. With you and I both away, the pack will need someone besides Ivan and your father" Asher says and he has a point. "I will come back by evening. Good night" He says. "Good night" I greet him back before falling into deep sleep. . . . I wake up when someone throws a pillow at me. "I swear to God, Asher. If you wake me up before seven I am-" "Easy easy! It's not Alpha Asher. It's me" I hear Avery's voice and I mentally scream f**k. I wake up to see Avery already showered and fresh. If there is anything I don't understand.. it is the concept of early birds. How do you wake up so early? I take a minimum of half an hour just to get up from my bed even if I am awake. "Beta Ivan called for a pack meeting in an hour. He said Alpha isn't here" Avery says. "Yeah. He left for human land. Some emergency" I say still yawning. "Oh" Avery says and she walks away. And now, this girl is getting on my nerves too. Just because she likes Asher doesn't mean I should stop talking to him. I am slowly observing the way her mood and smile changes whenever Asher and I smile at some inner joke. I know there is this thing called girl code, but this is how Asher and I are since we were babies! I reach the clearing where the pack meet is already starting. "So tomorrow, is the Crimson ritual. And I want everyone of you to look out. Protect our Alpha till he finishes it. Every supernatural creature will lunge at us trying to grab the opportunity. But let us not let our pack down. This is our land, and we will protect, defend and worship it" Ivan shouts totally in his beta mode. The whole pack erupts into cheers and I cheer along too. It is a big day tomorrow. The Crimson Ritual Day.
