Chapter 9

Aurora: “Not only did you play a dirty game on us, but you played the f*****g Alpha and now you are…” “I didn’t play anyone, dad.” I said, stopping the man. His eyes widened in surprise at my response, and it took everything in me not to break in front of my father. My heart raced against my chest, and I found myself being scared of what was to come. The idea of him being angry with me wasn’t something that I wanted. It was something that I was scared of, something that I was in pain of being in. “You have the f*****g nerve to be speaking to me right now. After the game that you played, and after the mockery that you put the family through, you think that you being here…” “I didn’t intend to put the family in a tough situation. I tried against it, I wanted it to…” “NOT A SINGLE WORD OUT OF YOU!” He yelled so loud that I thought my eardrums were going to pop. My eyes met my mother’s as she stood behind him. She put a hand on his shoulder, gently squeezing it. “She is not worth you being angry with her, Alessio.” She said, making my stomach churn. The idea of being treated as I was wasn’t something that I wanted. But how was I to know that he would be giving me up the way that he was. “Mama…” “You are not my daughter. My child wouldn’t be opening her legs for a random man, impregnating herself before running away with the man’s child.” She said, making my heart drop to my stomach. The fact that she was treating me the way that she was broke something in me, and though I knew that she didn’t care, I couldn’t help but find myself being in pain. “You are going to be living within the pack, and if I see you going anywhere, I am going to be the one to break your legs.” “As for the child…” “You are not going to hurt my baby.” I said, stopping my mom. Her eyes met mine and she shook her head in question. “You are in no state to be speaking to me right now. Trust me, I am more than willing to…” “Mama, you are a mother. You can’t expect me to just allow anyone to hurt my baby.” I said, and she shook her head at me. “You should have thought of that before you did what you have.” She said, rolling her eyes at me. I watched as she took a step back alongside my father, leaving me alone on the chair that I was sitting on. I didn’t know how I was going to react, but I knew one thing, I wasn’t going to allow anyone to hurt my child. “I promise you, baby, mama is going to keep you safe…” ************************* I woke up, on the same chair that I was chained to, to the door opening, taking me off guard. My eyes took a moment to adjust to the light, and it wasn’t until I caught sight of the pack Luna that my heart dropped to my stomach. She couldn’t have found out about me and the Alpha, she would end up killing me if she did. “You don’t need to be scared.” She said, her voice softening as she spoke. I looked down at my feet, avoiding her eyes in fear that she would be getting angry with me. “I know that you are under pressure, but I figured that eating might help you relax. You know, with everything that you are going through and all.” “I am not hungry, thank you, Luna.” I said, lowering my voice to above a whisper. She nodded at the two maids who were walking inside the cell with their trolley, watching as they walked out, leaving the trolley of food in the room. She slowly walked behind me and undid the rope that had me locked. It was one that hurt my skin, but I knew better than to complain. Being alive was a blessing enough to me at this point. “You are feeding two souls, Aurora. Your baby needs to be fed even if you are exhausted.” She said, her voice softening as she spoke. She looked at the chair that was in the room, pointing at it. “Do you mind if I sit with you?” I shook my head in response, and I watched as she walked to the chair, carrying it. She brought it in front of me and took a seat. “You can choose what you want to eat. This is all for you.” She watched as I slowly got up from the chair toward the trolley, not saying a word as I did. I took a piece of bread and minced on it. I wasn’t even hungry at this point. The anger that I felt with myself, at the Alpha, and at the helplessness that I was in wasn’t one that I liked. And I knew that it wasn’t going to end up getting better at all. If anything, I knew that IF she found out about it, this was going to get worse. “You are going to be leaving this room for a better place. At least, until you have given birth to the baby.” She said, taking me off guard. “I spoke to Ezio. He agreed to give you a room to stay in, and you will be resting and I will be ensuring that the baby and you are healthy and safe.” “Luna, that is very kind of you, but…” “I can’t ensure your or the baby’s fate from there. But at least, you are going to know that your child will grow, and if I can help, I will.” She said, her voice softening as he spoke. “I can even try ensuring that your baby lives, and that even if he doesn’t want you in the pack, you don’t end up being punished severely.” “They are all angry with me.” I said, putting the piece of the bread down. “There is no way that they are going to let me keep my baby. I mean, my family.” “Unless you give me the baby to raise as my own,” she said, making my heart drop to my stomach. I put a hand on my stomach, right where my baby was growing inside my womb. “Only then can I ensure your and the baby’s safety…”
