Chapter 8 Homewrecker

“Yes.” Michael was glad that Joey noticed it. “Look at these papers.” Joey flipped through them and didn’t find anything special. He tried to give an answer, “Well, they are clean?” Michael was speechless. It seemed that Joey was less smart after Beth’s show. Michael sighed and said, “None of these papers were scored zero. She gave answers two or three. But when she gives the answer, the answer is right and scores.” “Really?” Joey was shocked and looked at those papers again. And he found the same thing Michael had found. “Was it a coincidence? She might be lucky at that.” Joey still didn’t believe that. “Maybe for one time. But how could it be possible for all examinations?” Michael explained. He pulled out a piece of paper and pointed at the last answer. “See, she gives the right answer.” Joey looked at it and did mathematics in his head. To his surprise, Beth was right. But she didn’t write down the process of getting the number. And the teacher didn’t give scores for a single number. “And she often finished the hardest questions,” Michael said. Joey was totally in shock. Beth could finish papers, and she could finish the hardest part. He raised a piece of paper and asked, “What about this one?” “It is too simple for her.” Michael glanced at it and replied. Too simple? And that was why she didn’t want to waste her time on it. Joey was astonished. He asked, “If she could get high scores, why did she pretend she couldn’t finish these papers?” “She is hiding herself.” Michael sighed. “If she shows out her brilliance and talent, the Gages would not let her live an easy life. That is why she pretends to be clumsy and bad at study. She works here and acts in an awful way to make the Gages think she is not a threat. She knows it clearly and that is why she hides herself and bears these things all the time.” “What are the Gages thinking about?” Joey was raged. “Miss. Gage is such a good girl. She can be an excellent businesswoman if they mentor her. But they don’t trust her. She is their daughter. How could they ignore her and turn to other people’s daughter? Are they blind?” “I need more details about the Gages.” Michael was stern. “I think there are more complicated reason.” Joey nodded. And then he found someone in the other corner. “Mr. Stone, Lily Curtis is there!” Michael was bored of these people. He looked at the direction Joey pointing and saw Lily was staring at Beth in hatred. “Keep an eye on her!” said Michael. Lily looked at Beth and was burning in rage. Thinking of Beth was the reason that her mother and she were forced to move out from the Gages’ villa, she was desperate to tear Beth into pieces. And Michael Stone, that cruel man, ignoring her all the time was so nice to Beth. And she found another thing made her piss off. She had thought Beth was like a w***e in this bar and maybe Beth would be beaten up now and then. But that was not the fact. She saw Beth was welcomed as a queen! “Lily, what does she do to you?” The girl next to Lily asked. “She seduced my fiancé!” Lily squeezed out these words. She had forgotten the fact that Michael was engaged with Beth from the very beginning. “What? What a b***h!” That girl shouted angrily. “She is shameless. Why would she do that in such a young age? b***h!” Hearing Beth was cursed in bad words, Lily didn’t feel any better. She remembered what was waiting for her. Because of Beth Gage, her mother and she must move out from that villa! Lily didn’t understand why things would end like this. She knew all the time that Vincent had a special relationship with them. Two years ago, she just sobbed before Vincent, and then Beth was blamed and got kicked out of the house. And now, her mother’s tears couldn’t change Vincent’s mind. They had begged Vincent to let them stay. But it seemed that he was determined. He even started to look for another house for them! How could Lily forget all these things and be cheered up? “Stop! Enough!” Lily interrupted that girl’s cursing. “What about the thing I ask you to do?” “I have found someone.” The girl smiled obsequiously, “Lily, trust me. Beth Gage will bear the stain and become notorious. She can never work in this bar.” Lily waved her hand impatiently, “Quickly!” That girl made a call and soon a woman walked cross the crowd to the bar in a flamboyant gesture. “What would you like to drink, lady?” Beth asked. “b***h!” That woman grabbed another man’s glass and threw it at Beth’s head. Sensing the danger, Beth moved aside to escape the glass. And then the glass was smashed at the cabinet. Noticing what was going on, people stopped talking and looked at them. Beth was upset. She had thought Lily might do something and there were no peaceful days. But this was so quick! That woman banged on the table and swore, “Beth Gage, you b***h! Don’t you feel ashamed? How can you seduce my husband? Can’t you find a single man? You home wrecker! Haven’t your parents taught you that stay away from others’ family? You shameless b***h!” Her curse drew many people’s attention. More and more people gathered and looked at Beth. “How can she say that?” Joey clenched his fists. “She aims at Miss. Gage! Mr. Stone, I’ll call some people to bring her out.” “There is no need to do that.” Michael looked at Beth and continued, “She can handle it.” “What?” Joey was confused. He had realized how important Beth was to Michael. But now when Beth was in trouble, Michael just sat here and did nothing. Joey couldn’t help looking at Beth. He saw Beth was rather calm whatever that woman said. Maybe she could handle it? Beth filled a glass with wine. And then she poured the wine on the woman’s face. That woman screamed and shouted louder, “Beth Gage! You b***h! w***e! How dare you!” “You said I am a home wrecker?” Beth interrupted. The woman said in a resentful voice, “Yes! You are! You seduced my husband!”
