Alex POV
I pounded the table in the Lycan Dorm conference room. Yes, I was furious that my troops lost the intruders who broke into my residence.
"Sir, I've ordered some troops to investigate them outside Wolftown," Caleb said.
I fixed my eyes on Caleb. Now it was too late. Intruders were able to enter my residence. That meant the guarding system at the Silver Lycan Pack was highly insecure. More than that. I lost Shirley. I smelled her body scent. Who helped her? What was Shirley doing coming to my house secretly?
"Who was the man who came that night?" I asked. I wanted Caleb to give me the answer I wanted. I didn't want an ambiguous answer.
"I am sorry, Sir. I haven't gotten any information about him," Caleb replied.
I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. Some higher-ups in the Silver Lycan Pack were waiting for me to speak.
"It looks like we already have to accept the offer from the Crescent Moon Pack. Didn't they offer a wolf army in Lycan territory?" Thomas Jean said. He's among the higher-ups in the Silver Lycan Pack, who I trust quite a bit because he has good logic.
I held my chin while thinking. Since two years ago, Bruno has offered troops in the Lycan Pack territory. He said it was an offer from the Alpha as a token of appreciation for my and Bianca's marriage. But I felt that the favor was unnecessary. The Lycans are powerful creatures. It would be a shame to ask a werewolf for help.
"I can't, Thomas. We're not in a pinch," I replied softly. I still had to maintain my pride and the Silver Lycan Pack.
The Crescent Moon Pack is not strong. If I accept their help. That would mean I'd be declaring myself weak. I don't want to be considered weak. I don't want the werewolves to look down on me. I am the leader in Wolftown. They bow down and submit to me.
"Then what should we do now, Sir?" Mr. Kennedy chimed in with his opinion.
"We are waiting for information from Caleb. I don't want to be rash. I'll just ask you to keep Lycan territory from being entered by the werewolf army.
I'm slapped in my heart because my wife is a werewolf. I can't change the facts.
After the meeting in the conference room, I chose to take a walk in the garden of the Lycan Dorm. I couldn't say what was in my heart right now. Not even to Caleb, who has been the most loyal to me.
I wondered if last night's intruder into my house was Shirley. Why has she been bothering my mind lately? Especially when the condition of the Lycan Pack was hit by the issue of offspring.
I've tried my best to have a child, but Bianca can't get pregnant. My relationship with Bianca is a partnership. A political relationship with the Crescent Moon Pack. I can't carelessly ignore Bianca even though my heart is too empty when I'm with her.
"Alex!"
I closed my eyes when the voice sounded so familiar. Damn it. I wanted to be alone in the garden.
I turned around and flashed a smile. Bianca ran a little and then hugged my body. She rests her head on my chest. She smells good, and she's petite. I like inhaling her fragrance
"I heard the culprit hasn't been caught yet?" Bianca asked.
"You don't have to worry. The Lycans will find the culprit soon," I replied. I didn't want Bianca to think about this. She didn't even know what I was really doing for the Wolftown region.
Bianca looked at me. I gave her my best smile. That way, she'll be very happy.
A few moments later, the servers walk by. They seem to be chatting with each other. I wasn't paying much attention to what they were talking about, but suddenly Bianca called out to them.
"Hey, you guys! Come here!" Bianca called.
I was surprised by Bianca's call. "What's going on?" I asked.
"They speak badly about me," Bianca said.
I don't understand. I also wondered why women were so sensitive. I did have the ability to hear various types of voices from both near and far. But I prefer not to use it except under certain conditions.
"Ma'am." The servants faced Bianca.
"What are you saying about me!" Bianca screeched.
I tried to remain silent and calm. I didn't want to speak until I knew the heart of the matter.
The servants stared at each other.
I crossed my arms. Meanwhile, Bianca points at one of the servers. She put her index finger on his forehead.
"Are you saying I'm barren?" Bianca asked.
Oh, s**t! I hate this conversation. Bianca is very sensitive about this.
"I apologize, Ma'am," the waitress replied.
"Apologize?" Bianca was sarcastic. I could tell that was her true nature. She had always been sweet and innocent in front of me.
I hold Bianca's shoulders. I didn't want her to be too hard on the servers. "We should go in," I said.
"No, Alex. They've gone too far. I have to punish them. I heard that the higher-ups want you to have a child with another woman if I don't have one. I will smash this servant's mouth for speaking out of turn!" Bianca screamed.
I shuddered as Bianca's words were truly terrifying. I had never seen her behave like this.
"Forgive us, ma'am. We had no intention of demonizing...."
Bianca slapped the servants one by one. "Don't talk when I'm talking!"
I couldn't stand the ink fight. "You guys go. Just do your job."
Bianca gave me an annoyed look. Oh, apparently, she can be annoyed with me too. "Why did you let them!" Bianca screeched.
The servers left. I was still trying to calm down. Dealing with an angry woman is quite challenging.
"Why do you have to be angry?" I asked. "It's not like you, Bianca. You never glare at me and talk down to me."
As if being reminded. Suddenly, Bianca's expression changed. I wondered. Why would she do that?
"They're just gossiping. What they're saying isn't true anyway. Even if it was true, you shouldn't have hit them. Don't use your power on someone weaker than you," I said.
"Why aren't you defending me? I know I've been gossiped about because I didn't have a child immediately. You never stood up for me, Alex!"
Bianca burst into tears. I don't know what to do every time it's like this. I'm not good at stopping a woman from crying.
"This is a fact, Bianca. We've been married for two years. But you're not pregnant. I can't stop the Lycan members from asking for offspring. They need a successor," I replied. I had to talk about reality. The fact is that Bianca's position could be more secure in the Silver Lycan Pack. Unless she gives me offspring soon.
