Shirley POV
"Peter!" I squealed when I saw Peter returning, clutching his right hand.
I quickly ran over to make sure Peter was okay. Peter was injured. His hand was bleeding. I'm sure the Lycan attacked him brutally. Until now, the best way to defeat the Lycan was unknown.
"Are you okay?" I asked in panic and so guilty.
"We don't have time. We should go now. Alex ordered the troops to look for us," Peter said in a hurry. "You go to my car. I have to check out the hotel."
I couldn't argue this time. Peter was hurt, and it was serious. My stupidity had gotten Peter in trouble. Alex wasn't just going to kill me. He'll also kill Peter if we get caught.
I quickly got into Peter's car in the parking lot. I panicked. Very, very panicked. I've never been so scared. I never expected Alex to be as cruel as ink. He was so powerful.
I suddenly felt insecure that I could beat him. He is the Lycan King. He is the most powerful race on earth. Who can beat him? Even Peter is overwhelmed. I knew very well what Peter's strength was like. He's much stronger than my father. But he can't even win against the Lycans.
I smelled the Lycan's scent. I already have a bad feeling. Who? Who are the Lycan in this hotel's territory?
I tried to hide. My body scent must have been noticed by the Lycan.
A few moments later, I saw Peter coming out of the hotel. He hurriedly entered.
"I will drive," I said. I couldn't let Peter drive with the blood on his arm.
"You can't drive well. I don't trust you," Peter replied.
"Your arm was hurt. How are you going to drive?"
At this time, Peter could not help but engage in an argument. Even though his arm was clearly bleeding.
"No, you cannot drive. I will not let you," Peter said. He immediately started the car, and we left the hotel.
The sun hadn't risen yet. I don't know what time it is. But I suspect it will be soon. Peter deliberately didn't turn on the lights in the car so that no one could recognize us.
Even though Peter's hand was injured, he was still driving well. I saw Peter grimace a few times.
As we crossed the border, some Wolftown guards stopped our car. I was already panicking. They would recognize me as Teddy Mendes' daughter.
"Excuse me, Sir. Where will you go? It's early morning," the officer asked. "Wolftown's condition is not good for some time. We have to check your documents."
I couldn't possibly show my documents. My name clearly said Shirley Mendes of Purple Moon Pack.
"Okay," Peter replied casually. I could clearly see that Peter was holding the pain in his arm. I couldn't bear it. I felt bad. I felt guilty.
Peter took out his travel documents and ID card. He used his left hand to hand them to the officer.
"Here," Peter said.
Peter smiled kindly. He was trying to act as normal as possible. Though right now, I'm sure he must be anxious because of the Lycan's pursuit.
I heard the sound of several cars from behind speeding away. I smelled Alex's scent.
"Peter," I muttered in fear.
Peter grabbed my hand, trying to calm me down.
"Okay, you can go on," the officer said.
"Thank you, Bro," Peter replied.
Peter drove off as soon as his documents were returned. He drove the car very fast.
I looked back. The cars stopped at the border. I saw Alex get out of the car. He looked so scary. Like he was ready to kill me if he found me.
***
I could only stay silent when I saw Wendy-the doctor in Red Moon Pack, stitching up the wound on Peter's arm. We didn't go straight back to Peter's residence but to Wendy's apartment before she left for the hospital.
"What happened?" Wendy asked. She looked at me and then at Peter.
Peter didn't answer. I didn't dare to speak. I was ready for Peter to kick me out. I had broken his rule last night. I should have listened to Peter. None of this would have happened if I hadn't gone to Alex's house secretly.
Peter looked at me. I took my eyes in another direction. I couldn't look at him, not because of fear. I felt guilty. He shouldn't be hurt because of me.
"I am sorry," I said softly.
"You said sorry?" Peter smiled bitterly. "After my arm was bleeding?"
"I was just to give him some..."
"You knew you couldn't!" Peter's voice boomed. Wendy was speechless. She looked at me, and she didn't speak anything.
"Sorry."
I really felt sorry. Peter had been kind enough to give me a ride in his pack. I shouldn't have broken his trust.
"If you die, what about Jonas? You want him to lose his mother after he was abandoned by his father!" Peter screeched.
Peter was right. I was so petty. I should have thought of Jonas. I was all he had. Alex doesn't know that he has a child.
"Wendy, leave us," Peter ordered.
Wendy couldn't refuse Peter's order. She immediately left Peter and me in the living room of her apartment.
I looked down after Wendy came out. I didn't dare to look at Peter. I had disappointed him.
"You are so foolish!" Peter screeched. "You cannot win over Alex. He is the strongest Lycan in this area. He is pure blood! He is targeting you."
"So what do I have to do to get revenge on him? I hate him! He made my life broken. Did he kill my family? What should I do?" I couldn't help how I felt. I couldn't keep quiet after knowing that my family had died so horribly.
Peter approached me. I could still see his hands that had just been stitched up from being wounded by the Lycan attack.
Peter held both my shoulders. He looked at me with confidence.
"You have to be strong, Shirley. Don't be rash. You must have a plan if you want to get revenge on Alex. With your weak wolf's power, there's no way you can kill Alex. He won't die easily. He's Lycan pure blood."
