Friend

1043 Words
Mackenzie's mom pulled to a stop in the schools parking lot, she turned to her daughter who was happily fiddling and giggling in the backseat, "Okay Kenzie, I need you to act like a big girl now." she said gaining her daughters attention with her serious tone of voice. Mackenzie frowned looking at her mom's serious face, "I no wanna be big mama." she whined. Her mom sighed getting out the car and opening the backseat, "I just need you to be big until school is over, than we can play all day when you get home." she said unbuckling the teary-eyed teens seatbelt. "Pomise?" the teen asked with a sniffle. Her mom smiled, softly wiping the tears that spilled from her daughters green eyes. "Promise." After helping her out the car and making sure she looked presentenable her mom slowly lifted her head up, "Are you still in your head space?" she asked slightly worried as she combed through her daughters hair. Mackenzie looked up to her with a giddy smile, "Nope." she said playfully popping the p as she rocked on her toes. Her mom smiled, she could tell she wasn't fully out her head space but didn't know what to do. She wasn't an actual Mommy dom/Caretaker just a temporary one for her daughter. She didn't know the does and don'ts, and defintely didn't know how to get a little out their headspace, the only thing she could do was send her daughter into school and hope she'd come out her headspace on her own. ***** Mackenzie happily skipped through the halls, not fully out her headspace yet as she hummed one of her favorite songs "Love like you" from the show Steven Universe. She went up to her locker and looked at the lock on the tiny door with a questioning look, "You forget your password?" she jumped at the sudden voice next to her ear. She turned to see a girl with dirty blonde hair and blue eyes, she gawked at the shorter girl, "Wow your pretty." she said unconsciously with wide eyes. The dirty blonde teen chuckled, her smile wide as she stared up at the bold and semi childish looking teen in front of her, "Why thank you." she said her smile never wavering. She moved closer to Mackenzie's locker, "Need help?" she asked looking from Maclenzie to her locker. "Yes, please." she said nodding her head at a concerningly energetic speed, the blonde girl chuckled grabbing the lock attached to the locker. She grabbed something out a bag hanging off her shoulder and leaned in closer until her face was right in front of the lock. Mackenzie stared in awe over the girls shoulder as she used the small object she had gotten out her bag to undo the lock. She stood back and handed the lock to Mackenzie with a grin, "Woah, how'd you do that?" she asked with wide eyes. "Just a trick I learned from my parents." she said as an unreadable look flashed in her eyes. "My names Ryland." she said opening up the locker she had just unlocked for Mackenzie. "Mines is Mackenzie, but you can call me Kenzie!" the tall brown haired girl replied excitingly as she went through the locker Ryland had just opened, "Do you wanna be friends?" She asked turning to look back at Ryland since she had already gotten what she needed out the locker. Ryland stared at her questioningly, unable to decide rather or not the teen in front of her was being serious or not. Mackenzie stared at her with a wide grin patiently waiting for her reply, "Sure..." she finally said after a few seconds of silence. Mackenzie's smile seemed to grow at her answer, obviously ignoring how hesitant Ryland had been at first. Out of no where her locker was slammed shut, she jumped away at the loud sound "Kenzie..." she completely slipped out her headspace at the sound of the fimiliar voice saying her name. "H-hey Kim." she said nervously, turning around to face a tall girl with long curly brown hair and brown eyes. Ryland looked between the two of them curiously, silently wondering why the giddy, bold, and childlike teen she had just been talking to became so rigid and nervous. "Did you hear about the game?" "Y-yeah" she replied looking down to the ground. "You know I can't help but think, maybe we wouldn't have lost if our star player hadn't walked out crying like a baby after one tiny push." Kim spat out. "I didn't walk out." Mackenzie mumbled. "Oh yeah, I'm sorry. You got carried out, big f*****g difference." "Can you shut the f**k up?" Kim turned her head, finally noticing the slightly shorter blonde haired girl standing behind Mackenzie with a scarily angry look on her face. After watching the scene unfold Ryland had found it hard to keep her cool, Kim's attitude towards Mackenzie bothered her for some reason. "And who are you?" Kim questioned, glaring daggers at the seemingly unfased blonde teen that had just told her to shut up. "None of your damn business." Ryland replied unconsciously stepping in front of Mackenzie and though she was much taller than her, Mackenzie still tried her best to hide behind Ryland's short stature. Kim studied Ryland's face and seconds later her eyes slightly widened as if realizing something, she sucked on her teeth and looked up to Mackenzie, "You're such a pathetic exscuse for an athlete, I don't know how you became the best player on the team." she commented making Mackenzie look down once agian. "The only pathetic person I see here is you. How can you criticize her when your whole team, including you, can't even win one single game without her?" Ryland said with a knowing grin on her face. Kim scowled looking back to Mackenzie one more time before turning around and walking away. "Thanks for that..." Mackenzie said, nervously rubbing the nape of her neck. Ryland turned around giving the tall teen a wide and genuine smile, "That's what friends are for." she said. "Now do you mind showing me where my classes are?" she said as Mackenzie laughed before nodding. her head in reply. "Of course, friend."
