(Naomi POV)
It's been over a year and a half since I left my home. A year since I, Naomi Lightstorm, future Queen to the Sorcerer's realm, was stripped from my title and exiled from my land.
Now I am Naomi Lightstorm, a sorcerer disguised as a mundane to escape death from her own people. I struggled very much to adapt to this living but thanks to my grandma's bedtime stories I somehow managed.
The first few weeks were a nightmare. I had no place to stay nor did I eat anything. The realm gate had sent me to the middle of a forest. For days I roamed through the dark place aimlessly. I was hungry and lost. I didn't even know where I was.
Finally, I ended up in front of a beautiful waterfall. My mind was not in the right state. I felt tired of my life. Everything was blurry and I just wanted to end this suffering. So I dragged myself to the top of the waterfall.
I looked around me. The whole place seemed magical, like my home.
Smiling at the thought of my home, I raised my hand to the sides before falling into the water.
The cold water hit me like a piercing needle and I inhaled in a lot of water. My lungs began to burn in lack of oxygen and I started seeing black spots. Not long after, darkness welcomes me.
I thought it was the end of my misery but God had other plans.
The next thing I know I woke up in a warm and cozy bed.
An old lady named Mrs. White saw me drowning. She saved me and took me home. She took care of me like her daughter. She was confused as to why I had no idea of mundane culture but she didn't ask anything about that. It took a couple of weeks to get me to talk but as time passed I started getting close to her.
She employed me to work at her flower shop and slowly I started going for other jobs. But a few months later Mrs. White had to leave the country to her son's house and once again I was left alone. She calls and checks up on me once in a while but I still miss her.
Just like I miss my dad and mom.
I sighed and shook my head.
'No. Stop it, Noami. You should not think about it... About them. This is your new life now.' i scolded myself.
Right now I'm walking down the busy street to my workplace sipping my usual strawberry smoothie.
This drink has now become my most favorite one and I never go to work without having one.
I have never used magic ever since I left my Dominion. I know Hayden is still searching for me. He will track me the moment I use my powers.
After 10 minutes I stood in front of a familiar building. I got the job here as a waitress. It's what humans called a superior high-class restaurant, Moonlight Palace.
I have to work from noon 12 till night 9 and it is really tiring. I was also able to rent a very small home on a building which they commonly call an apartment. It's really small but it's not that bad.
A royal to the street is a very hard state to adapt but I have no choice, do I?
"Hey Nao" Kila, the receptionist greeted waving at me. I don't know why but she started calling me that since the day we met.
"Hello Kila," I said waving back before walking my way to the change room to get into my uniform.
*****skip time*****
I sighed and leaned by the wall as I came back from serving another table. Another 30 minutes more. Just another 30 more minutes and I can go home.
"Naomi, food for your table number 12 is ready." I heard Rain, the head chef called.
I quickly took the trolley saying a thank you and left to serve off my today's last table.
"Here you are sir, your dessert," I said placing it on the table. "Enjoy," I said giving a small bow before walking out.
The rest time was spent helping clean up the dishes in the kitchen.
"Hey, Naomi it's almost time," Mia, my work colleague said as I turned and nod with a smile.
"OK. Let me just settle my last table" I said before walking off to give the bill.
After I settled all my today's program I changed into my regular clothes which consist of dark blue ripped jeans and a yellow shirt.
I dropped by the supermarket nearby as I needed to buy some groceries. I wandered through each aisle picking up the ones I need after which I went to the pay counter.
"Hello sweetheart, long day huh," the nice old woman asked me just like every other time.
"Yea. It was" I said smiling before handing the money.
We both said our bye before I walk out but only to bump into something... or rather someone.
"Uff" I fell on my butt with a loud thud, my grocery littering the whole floor.
"Oh come on!" I said frustrated as I started picking up the things from the ground. The person just stood there, still as a rock!
"Hey! The least you could do is help pick up the things" I murmured as I picked up a tomato and put it back in the cover.
I knew I sounded really harsh but I was really pissed off and I'm positive I would lose my temper if I look at this person now.
"Right. I'm sorry" I hear him say before he started helping me. After a few minutes, everything was clear and I raised my head to say a thank you.
But the moment I looked up, I felt the air being sucked out of my lungs. I was caught stuck by the person in front of me.
To say he was hot was an understatement. He has dark brown hair with light brown highlights and hazel eyes. He wore a tightly fitted black shirt and dark blue jeans. He seems to be 6 feet or more? I don't know but he is way taller than me.
He looks like one of the legendary heroes of sorcery. He got up and extended his hand with a small smile.
"Come on," he said as he extended his arm but I couldn't help but give my full attention to his stretched out biceps.
And my God!!
"You know, baby girl, a picture will last longer," he said bringing me back from my own little world.
Shit! What am I doing?!
I stood up abruptly muttered thanks before I fast-walked out of this place.
"Hey! Hey, wait, please. Don't go!" I heard him yell but I was running my maximum speed by now. My heart was beating fast and I feel like I'm starting to have difficulty breathing.
I don't understand why I'm feeling like this but I'm scared. It's all new to me and I promise myself I will not fall for another mistake.
