"Jade," Miles's voice was barely above a whisper, his eyes still fixed on the road. I turned to him, "Huh?" the words came out straight, telling me that I had already begun the process of going sober. He licked his lips, obviously happy to hear that in my voice, "You sure you're okay to be alone tonight?" "Well it's not like I have a choice," I mumbled, returning my gaze out the window. Miles hesitated, "You can stay at my place, if you want." I looked at him, "I doubt my mom will allow that." "My mother is home. Assure her my mother will be watching us like a hawk.
