Chapter2: The Elders Testing

1000 Words
Chapter 2 Patricia POV The next morning, I was called into the Alpha’s office. He informed me that the Elders would be here soon. He told me to have breakfast and then return to his office once I finished and was dressed for training. I went downstairs to the kitchen and noticed that Vin was already there talking to his friends. As soon as he saw me, he immediately rushed over to me and took my hand to lead me to the breakfast table. He took my plate and began filling it up for me. I grabbed a drink and followed him to his table where his friends cleared a spot for me to sit next to him. His friends were all looking at me with interest and I knew I was going to have to answer the same or related questions to what I had answered last night with Vin. I overheard low growls coming from the table behind me. I turned around to see many of the she wolves at that table starring jealous dagger at me. I just smirked and turned back around. I decided that I would just try to enjoy the attention I was receiving from the boys. Forgive me but I had never been noticed like this before. However, I did caution myself not to become conceited or allow it to corrupt me. I understood that the Moon Goddess had blessed me with a gift. It was to be used for the betterment of my pack and not to make me popular with the boys. I had a vital role to play, and I was determined to be worthy of her blessing and faith in me. Vin mind-linked me to let me know that the Elders had arrived and were waiting in the Alpha’s office. I finished my breakfast and excused myself to go back to my room to change into my training clothes. I selected a black sport b*a with a black loose fitting tank top and black and white printed leggings. I slipped on my black sneakers and pulled up my hair into a high ponytail with a black hair tie. When I opened my bedroom door to leave, I noticed Alpha Vin standing there waiting for me. He escorted me to his father’s office. “What is he our manager now?” my wolf, Morgan, scoffed. "Don't be mean," I laughed. When the door to the Alpha’s office opened, I could see four men inside with the Alpha. My father was one and the other three were The Elders who had come to test me. Their eyes met mine and I thought they looked stoic and official. I took a seat in front of Alpha Vincent's desk and Alpha Vin sat next to me. He reached out and took my hand in his to comfort me and gave my hand a little squeeze. He told me not to be nervous because he was there for me. “How sweet,” my wolf, said sarcastically in my head which made me laugh to myself. I love how sassy my wolf is. I know we will get along well. I knew what she meant. He was “all of a sudden” so interested in being there for me when he never had beforehand. I may only be 14 and have never had a boyfriend, but I was not stupid enough to believe he had genuine feelings for me. Still, I decided to allow him to pretend. Maybe I would grow on him and one day he would? The Elders began to explain to my father and I that they would like to test me for every known “gift” that they had knowledge of other gifted wolves receiving in the past from the Moon Goddess. Since the Alpha had already told them of my healing abilities, they wanted to begin there. I nodded in understanding. They were interested to know how fast I could heal myself and what injuries I could heal from. Word had spread about my incident at the waterfall, and it was rumored that I could come back from the dead. I don't remember seeing a bright light or anything else people say you should see when you die so I couldn't confirm it. My father gave his permission for the testing; except for trying to kill me. The Elders wanted to know how “indestructible” I could be on the battlefield as a female warrior. A warrior who could instantly heal from any blow suffered during battle would be priceless to any pack. At least that was the idea. It would give them a noticeably clear advantage in any war. It would also make me very highly coveted by other packs and other Alphas. “It would also make her the most highly sought-after mate,” I heard Alpha Vin say. Interested in knowing if my powers could transfer to any future pups I may have. “There isn’t any real way of knowing that beforehand,” his father told him. “It is the Moon Goddess who decides who gets blessed with her gifts.” He spoke. Though he could not rule out it was a possibility. “That is gross,” Morgan squealed in my head.”” Girl we haven’t even kissed a boy yet and he is already wanting to impregnate us.” I agreed with her sentiment, but I did not say anything. I just laughed to myself again. I looked at my father to gauge his reaction to what Alpha Vin said. As I suspected, he did not look happy about Vin’s questions. Power. “It’s all about power with these Alpha’s,” I thought. Morgan yipped in agreement with me. I sighed, knowing I was going to be in for a long afternoon with a lot of awkward questions. Just my good luck. I went from nobody special to “highly sought-after” in one day. Lucky little me.
