"GOOD morning, sir!" she greeted her boss in a very energetic voice.
"Good morning to you too, Ruby." He took a glanced towards the door that she had walked through. "Let's wait my son. He's on his way here. By the way, after you meet him you can head home and take some rest. Emerald mentioned that you have a hangover."
"Uhm, yes sir. Yesterday was my birthday. That's why-"
"I know. And it's okay, honey. I actually bought you a simple gift. I put it inside your drawer. You can check it later."
"Wow! Thank you so much, sir! I can't believe that-"
Her words were interrupted when someone suddenly spoke from behind her.
"Sorry dad, I'm late. I was in the cctv room, getting-" Adam stopped talking and just stared at her. "Is she your secretary?" His reaction was incredulous. Even me, I was greatly surprised when I saw Adam. I could never have imagined that he was the one being referred to as Mr. Whitlock's son. Despite working for more than five years in his father's company, this was the first time that I met his gorgeous and delicious son.
"Yeah. I want you to meet my twenty-eight years old stunning and hardworking secretary...Miss Ruby Rose Smith." His father introduced her to him. "Anyway, Ruby this is my unico iho, Adam, he's two years older than you and he will be your boss while my wife and I are staying in Singapore."
She felt frozen in her seat, unsure of how to start a conversation with him. As Adam approached her, she anxiously glanced around, avoiding direct eye contact with him.
"Uhm, good morning, Sir Adam," she stammered, bowing her head slightly.
"Yeah, my morning is definitely good. Especially in the elevator where--"
Feeling anxious about what Adam might say, so she quickly think a way on how to change the conversation.
She shifted her gaze towards Adam's father and addressed him, "Excuse me, Sir Aston, may I know the reason on why you wanted to speak with me at this moment?" she asked.
Mr. Whitlock stood up from his swivel chair. He walked towards her and smiled broadly before answering her question. "Well, as I mentioned earlier, my wife and I will be going on vacation to Singapore... so, temporarily, Adam will be taking care of the company and he will also be your new boss for the time being. Is that okay with you, Ruby?"
"Why are you asking for her permission? She's just your secretary!" Adam retorted that his voice devoid of any emotion.
She looked at him puzzled. Seems like he's not the man that he met last night. His face was grim and there's no emotion in his whatsoever.
"Uhm, Sir Aston...I think, Sir Adam is right. I'm just your secretary and I have no say in this matter."
"Okay. But before I leave, let me remind you son...be a good boy. Ruby is a very good secretary. I don't want to lose her. She's my secretary for more than five years and your mom trusted her a lot."
She glanced at Adam's direction and she saw how he smirked after hearing his dad's words.
"Be nice to each other!" Mr. Whitlock shouts before he left.
Silence prevailed inside the office after Mr. Whitlock, left them. She still avoiding Adam's gaze. She kept biting her lower lip, her eyes fixated on her feet as though they contained solutions to all the problems of the world.
Adam was the one who broke the silence.
"So, Miss Secretary..." he trailed then pulled out a flash drive from his pocket. "Want to watch what happened in the elevator a while ago?" He wiggled the flash drive in front of her face. "It's in a high definition."
Ruby's jaw almost dropped while looking at the flash drive that he was holding.
Watch? So, it means everything that happened to us in the elevator was saved in that flash drive?
Holly freaking hell! Ruby felt cheap while staring at the flash drive. I'm such a slut!
"Hey, Ruby Rose Smith!" Adam called out her name playfully, with a hint of teasing in his voice.
She bit her lower lip then asked. ""Would you be willing to give me the flash drive, if I ask for it?"
"Of course not! This is mine. This is a remembrance for our rendezvous in the elevator."
"Okay then. I'm leaving. See you tomorrow, SIR!"
"What? You're not allowed to take a day off!"
"Says who? You? Let me remind you, SIR...the company policy does not state any prohibition on the CEO's secretary to take a day off."
"I don't care! You still not allowed to absent today!"
"And who you are to say that?"
"I'm your boss!"
She raised her eyebrows. "I need to take a day off. I need to sleep and have a good rest. My head is about to explode in pain and mostly I feel sore down there." She explained causing Adam to feel pity on her.
"Fine! You can leave now. See you tomorrow."
Adam sat on the swivel chair and looked around the entirety of his father's office. His eyes stopped on the curving table settled on the corner of the office. Curiosity ate him so he stands up and walks towards the table. Then he saw a small picture frame at the side of the table. It was Ruby's picture. He's about to pick it up but the office door suddenly opened.
He was surprised after seeing that it was Ruby who entered the office. "Hey! What are you doing here? I thought you left?"
Adam instantly felt worried as he noticed that Ruby is crying. "Hey, what happened?" he asked again.
He felt even more worried as he saw Ruby's eyes watering and a lone tear continues to fall down her cheek.
"Nothing happened. Can I stay here for a while?"
He shrugged. "Ye-yeah, sure." He pointed the table on the side of the office. "Might as well be my secretary so that you stay here with purpose."
She nodded and walked towards her table.
Adam can't help but to took a glance on Ruby's ass as she walks.
What a fine ass! It should be a crime to have an ass like that. He tried to control himself as he felt the desire burning inside of him. He want to caress and pinch it again. No! Remember the second rule! No office affair .
What happened in the elevator was nothing. It doesn't count to office affair! He still continue to convince himself at the back of his mind.
