Chapter Four: Elevator

IT felt like Ruby's head was being split apart when she woke up the next day. She felt like it was going to explode from the intense pain, and her cellphone, which had been ringing since earlier, only added to the agony. Despite the pain, she reluctantly had to get up and answer the call.

"Hello. Who's this?"

"Damn you! This is Emerald! How dare you to left us in the bar last night?"

"Gosh, I'm sorry. But can you call me later? I have a severe headache. I have a freaking hangover. So please, I don't want now to discuss what happened last." Her voice strained as she pleaded with her friend.

Emerald exhaled loudly. "Fine! But you have to come to the office. Mr. Whitlock has something important to announce before he go to Singapore."

"I can't! My head is killing me."

"But you have to." Emerald still forcing her. "You have to see Mr. Whitlock's son. He will become our new CEO. Remember, you're the CEO's secretary." she added.

"Shut up, Emz! I will call Mr. Whitlock-"

"Don't waste your time and energy! Actually, Mr. Whitlock is the one who gave me an order to call you."

"Huh? That's impossible! But why he did not call me?"

"I don't know. I'm just following his order."

"Bullshit!"

"Tss, fix yourself! You badly needed to go to the office right away!"

"I can't! I want to sleep again! Just tell him that i'm not feeling well today." she insisted.

"Gosh, Ruby! Stop making nonsense excuses Wether you like it or not you still need to go there. You need to meet Mr. Whitlock's handsome and yummy son."

She exhaled. "Why does his son need to visit there? He has his own company and for sure, his mom and dad won't stay long in Singapore, right? So, there's no need for his son to replace him as a temporary CEO."

"Tss, go to the office and tell Mr. Whitlock your opinion!" Emerald said that full of annoyance in her voice. She also end up the call.

Irritated, Ruby has no choice but to fix herself. She took a shower hoping that her hangover might gone.

After thirty minutes of preparing, she quickly left and drove the company car on her way to the office.

Meanwhile, she arrived at the company. She hastily entered the elevator and pressed the button for the top floor. Despite the lingering headache from her hangover, she managed to keep a pleasant expression on her face. She leaned against the elevator wall and gently massaged her temples. In the midst of doing so, the elevator door abruptly opened... she found herself staring at the person stepping in, both of them taken aback.

"Oh my God! What is he doing here?"

She couldn't move from her spot as Adam entered the elevator and also pressed the button for the top floor. Silence prevailed inside the elevator. She didn't know how to initiate a conversation with Adam especially that she suddenly remembered everything that happened last night.

Ruby can feel her cheeks burning. I can't believe, I did that stupid thing.

She was hoping that they would quickly get to the top floor for her to avoid his company but Adam is the one who broke first the silence.

"So, you work here?"

"Ye-yeah..." Her voice comes out shrilly. She cleared her throat. "Yeah, I worked here."

"Great!"

"Why are you here, Adam?"

He smirked. "Secret."

After saying that, he quickly grabbed her waist and pressed her against the back of the elevator. Then their lips met in an instant.

Her body burned when she felt his body touching hers.

"Let go of me, Adam!" she protested in a soft voice.

"Huh? Why would I do that?" his mouth move to her neck and he started kissing her.

She did everything in her power to contain her moan. She wouldn't allow him to hear her moans. She would be hypocritical if she said she wasn't enjoying what he was doing. However, she needed to resist it.

Ruby was about to push him away from where he seized her wrist and pinned it on the elevator wall but he crashed again his lips on hers. That's why Ruby couldn't hold back anymore the moan that escaped from her lips. She bit her lower lip as Adam released her lips and gave her a mocking grin.

"Still not doing it again with me?" Adam asked while still grinning from ear to ear.

"Let go of me! I have important thing to-

He interrupted any further words that she had to say by silencing her with another kiss on the lips. As he gently slid his tongue into her mouth, she let out a soft moan. When she tasted him, her body tingled. Her core burned with anticipation. Her clit throbbed.

Adam's hand was about to touch her breast but the elevator when suddenly the elevator made a sound, signaling that they had reached the top floor. He also quickly straightened her rumpled blouse, making her look like a decent woman again. He proceeded to step out of the elevator ahead of her.

"See you later, my Sweet Ruby." He grinned at her and winked.

Her lips remained slightly parted as she hastily made her way out on the elevator.

She hurriedly walked towards Mr. Aston Whitlock's office, but suddenly she bumped into one of her friends.

"Ruby!" Sapphire called her. "What happened to you last night? Why did you left us in the bar?"

"Sapphire, please...I'm in a hurry! Let's talk about that later."

"Gosh! We need to-'

"Please, let's just talk later. Mr. Whitlock is waiting for me in his office. He wants me to meet his son...our temporary CEO."

"OMG! He's so damn hot!"

She rolled her eyes. "Whatever! Hmm, I have to go now. I will just call you later once I have a free time."

Sapphire just nodded at her. She conitued walking and when she's already at the door of Mr. Whitlock's office...she let out a deep breath before she knock and enter the office of the CEO.
