New York
A shiny black Bentley Rapier pulled over in front of a building. A man in a grayish suit approached the car’s passenger door and opened it. And once the door was open, a man in a black tailored suit climbed out.
“Good morning Mr. De Rossi.”
The guards and other employees greeted the man in a tailored suit as soon as he is out of his car. The man just gave them a curt nod before he went inside the building with the man in a grayish suit right behind him.
“Good morning Mr. De Rossi.”
More employees greeted the man in a tailored suit as soon as he passed the lobby.
Nikolai De Rossi, the owner, and CEO of NIX Corp that handles the Bianca Hotel Resort and Casino Chain. At the young age of twenty-five he was able to start his own business and ten years later, it is now one of the leading companies in America, and Bianca Hotel, Resort, and Casino are one of the few hotels in the world to achieve a seven-star rating.
“Did you give Stacy the gift?” Nikolai asked his assistant as they went inside the private elevator.
“Yes sir. It’s the latest from Cartier this season, and I also made it clear to her that whatever it is going on between you two are over.” His assistant answered and Nikolai smirked.
Trevor Smith is Nikolai’s loyal and very reliable personal assistant. He knew Nikolai the most that he can cater to his boss’ every need and wants. He is very efficient when it comes to his job, and he loves earning from it.
“I knew I can count on you Trev,” Nikolai said, stuffing his hands inside his pocket.
Nikolai and Trevor have formed a bond that is more than an employer-employee. They are very close friends that sometimes, Nikolai acts like the silly one and Trevor was there to clean up the mess.
“You pay me to clean up your mess every now and then, but I still looking forward to that raise,” Trevor said and it made Nikolai chuckle.
Trevor is the only person that can talk to Nikolai like that. Everyone from the employees, business partners, and other people are scared of Nikolai’s cold demeanor and fiery temper.
When the elevator door opened, Nikolai stepped out first followed by Trevor. The employees on that floor greeted him, and Maya the secretary followed them inside the CEO’s office with a cup of coffee.
Once inside the office, Nikolai removed his suit jacket and hangs it in the coat hanger before he took his seat behind the desk. Maya placed the cup of coffee on the desk and started scrolling on her tablet.
“Sir, at nine A.M. you have a meeting with the wine suppliers. Then you have a luncheon meeting with the Arab investors at the Eleven Madison Park. At three, you have a meeting with the construction team for Bianca Singapore expansion in the meeting room. At five, you have a meeting with Mr. Colton about the acquisition of his Game developing firm. And finally, at seven in the evening, you have dinner with Ms. Delancy in Masa, the Japanese restaurant in Time Warner Center. ” Maya read Nikolai’s schedule or the day.
Nikolai nodded while his attention was on his computer. Trevor noticed how Maya was eyeing Nikolai, and he cleared his throat.
“If you are done Maya, you can prepare all the documents Mr. De Rossi needs for all his meetings today,” Trevor said and Maya nodded before dashing out of the office.
Like Nikolai, every employee in the company has high regard for Trevor as he is like the boss’ clone that gave off the same cold demeanor and efficiency when it comes to working. Not to mention that both men were oozing with good looks and charisma.
Once Maya was gone, Nikolai sighed and grabbed the cup of coffee, and took a sip.
“Just tell me if you want to change your secretary again,” Trevor said as he sat on the couch while flipping through some documents.
Nikolai turned to look at his assistant.
“She’s okay; she does her job and she’s pretty hot,” Nikolai said, and then Trevor gave him a deadpan look.
“She will not be an efficient employee when she does these puppy eyes whenever you are around,” Trevor said and Nikolai scoffed.
“It’s not her fault that I have that effect on women.” He said.
“It’s your fault then.”
Trevor said and went back to scanning the documents. Nikolai arched his eyebrow at him.
“You are getting more annoying,” Nikolai grumbled and turned back to his computer screen.
“It’s my job to be annoying when it comes to working. I do almost half of your work.” Trevor grumbled.
“So, you want me to make you president?”
“No thanks just raise my salary and we’re good.”
**************************.
After two of Nikolai’s appointments, now he is in the meeting room with the team for the expansion of his hotel in Singapore.
“This expansion is very important to me, and I don’t want any setbacks. I want Bianca Tower to be better than Marina Bay. Do you understand me?” Nikolai sternly said in front of his employees.
“Yes sir.” The team said in unison.
“Give me a contingency plan regarding this in the next meeting, dismissed,” Nikolai said, and his employees got up from their seats one by one and left the meeting room.
Once the employees left, leaving Nikolai and Trevor seated at the table, Maya came in.
“Sir, here are the contracts for the Gaming firm, and Mr. Colton just arrived,” Maya said, handing out the folders to Trevor.
“Send him up here,” Trevor said and Maya nodded and left.
Once she was gone, Trevor turned towards Nikolai.
“I didn’t see it coming that you’d be acquiring a gaming firm,” Trevor said as he opens the folders containing the acquisition contract.
Trevor checked the contract before laying them down on the table.
“NIX Corp needs to go with what’s in demand during this time,” Nikolai told Trevor.
“Does being a film producer included in that?”
Nikolai smirked at his assistant.
“Yes, it’s not that bad to venture out. So you knew well why I am meeting Ms. Delancy.” He said.
“Not really. I just thought you’d prefer to date older women.”Trevor said and Nikolai frowned.
Before Nikolai could retort, there was a knock on the door and Maya came in with Mr. Colton. Nikolai and Trevor stood up and shook Mr. Colton’s hand before they proceed to the signing of the contract.
It didn’t take long and once the contract was signed, Mr. Colton left and Nikolai now is the owner of Gamerix Firm. Nikolai was pretty much elated when they went back to his office.
“We should celebrate this milestone Trev. How about I treat you to a nice expensive dinner?” Nikolai asked.
Trevor sat on the couch and opened his laptop.
“I prefer a double bonus and a month-long vacation with pay,” Trevor said nonchalantly while scrolling through his emails.
Nikolai pursed his lips.
“Cheapskate.” He grumbled.
“I prefer frugal,” Trevor said and paused.
“Besides I need to save up so I can finally buy the villa in Colorado. I’d like to move there when I get tired of you.” Trevor joked, but his face remained blank.
Nikolai let out a dramatic gasp.
“You wound me; you’re leaving me.”
“I was joking,” Trevor said and then something in his inbox caught his eye. It was an email from De Rossi Private Villa. Trevor then turned towards Nikolai.
“Sir, I think you have an urgent email from De Rossi Private Villa,” Trevor said.
And upon hearing what Trevor said, Nikolai’s body froze. An email coming from De Rossi's private villa only means it’s about his estranged father. It’s been years since he has last seen his father in one of the business trips he had in Italy, and the last time he talked to him was last year.
“Forward the email to me,” Nikolai said and Trevor immediately obliged.
Nikolai opened the email once he received it, and read it.
Dear Mr. Nikolai De Rossi,
Good day to you. I am sending you this email to inform you that your father wished to see you. I know you might disregard such a request from someone you don’t know but I am also informing you that your father’s health has deteriorated. His cancer has progressed to the extent that his doctors have given him a very short time to live.
Given his situation, I strongly advise that you come home and spend his remaining days with him. Your father misses you dearly and it would be his delight to see you for the last time.
Hoping for your positive response regarding such a request.
From:
Alarie
Famiglia Rosso Consigliere
After reading the email, Nikolai cannot help but have his emotions all over the place. Hearing that his father, the great Nicholas De Rossi has succumbed to such disease and has his days numbered came off as a shock.
Yes, he and his father don’t have the best father and son relationship but he is still his father. He knew that the reason he was shipped to America when he was young was to save his life, and for him to have a chance to live in a normal environment.
Nikolai thought that he shouldn’t ignore such a request. He needs to see his father and reconnect with him before it was too late. So he immediately replied to the email and turned towards Trevor.
“Trevor, there is a slight change to my schedule. You will meet Ms. Delancy tonight in my place, I will leave the company in your hands and call my pilot and get the jet ready. Also, tell Maria to pack my bags and have my chauffeur bring them to me asap.” Nikolai ordered.
Trevor looked at his boss.
“Uhm, may I ask why?”
“I’m flying to Sicily tonight.”
