Chapter 2: What Are You Doing Here?

Jade Why the hell does this keep happening? f**k it. I was so close this time around, but they still managed to slip off my finger. Damn it. “Hey boss,” I greeted as our CO entered the room where I and Valla were located. Before I forget to mention. I studied criminology and was able to somehow climb my way to the top due to my brain and attention to detail. I graduated at the top of my class with distinction from Germany, and when I returned to the United States, I decided that I would like to join the CIA. As far as I know, that’s one of the best legitimate ways to earn cool money, and I was currently looking for a lot of cash as I have all the leads I needed already. The current operation that needs urgent attention is capturing one of the most ruthless Mafia bosses. A lot of mafia camps were going back and forth these days, thereby threatening the peace of the state. Drugs and money were flooded onto the streets, and sometimes innocent citizens were dragged into the mess. For some reason, the government was very interested in one of these ruthless mafia bosses. His name was Demeo Ianniello, and he was currently the capomandamento of the biggest mafia gang. The government was after him, a price tag was already placed, and the C.I.A official who was going to bring him to book was going to be getting a whopping $2 million, which was a lot of money. I was interested in the bag, and it was one of my major reasons for joining the CIA in the first place. The thing is, even though he was wanted, Demeo Ianniello wasn’t going to be an easy catch. Most especially because no one knows what he looks like, yes, no one, I mean, no one knows who Demeo is, and somehow he was always lurking in the shadows and carrying out his operations smoothly. That was the major reason it was proving to be almost impossible to catch him. I had found some leads and informed my colleague Valla so we could act on them, but unfortunately, he slipped our fingers, or it could be that we weren’t even close enough for him to slip off our fingers. “I thought you said you had everything figured out, Jade?” Our CO scolded angrily, and it shocked the hell out of me. Why was he so mad? "Yes, sir, but you know this guy acts like a spirit and...” "Excuses, Jade, and you know I hate excuses; excuses are for the incompetent!!” He yelled, and I had to lower my head. I know I promised them that with my lead we could catch the guy, but why was he that paranoid? Isn’t this the same guy that they have been trying to bring down him and his family for years now and have failed woefully at it? So why were they mad that my first attempt failed? “Valla and I were able to get hold of a material we are speculating that he must have touched so we could use it to get his fingerprints and then catch him,” I said, looking over to Valla with a proud smile on my face. “Are you guys f*****g kidding me right now, or are you just trying to be bloody, outright idiots? This guy wears fake skin or something of the sort at all times when he is out doing his shady business, so it is impossible to get his fingerprint.” “Or do you think we are so dumb we have never thought of that? I can’t believe you brought me out here to waste my time. Our CO said with a disgusted look on his face. “I’m so sorry, boss. I promise to make it up to you by bringing those criminals to book soon.” I said, and he shook his head in disappointment before turning around to leave. Valla and I talked for a few minutes before we decided to go our separate ways. "f**k," I cussed out, a little bit pissed that my day wasn’t going as planned. Anyway, it’s not like I was expecting catching him to be that easy, or maybe I was. "Grrrrgggghhhh,” my phone started buzzing in my pockets, and I reached out to see it was my best friend Layla. “Wassup babe? Any good news?” She asked once I picked up the call. “No,” I replied sadly, and she heaved a sigh. “Don’t be sad, boo; you just started, and you don’t expect to get it on just your first trial.” She said, trying to lighten up my mood. “Anyway, why not come to the club and join me? I’m working late today.” She said. Was she seriously inviting me to the club to lurk around while she worked when I had just failed on an important mission that would have turned my life around? “Hello?” She spoke into the phone when I stayed mute for a while. “I’m sorry, Layla, but I want to rest for a while,” I said, hoping she would buy my excuse. “Hell no, be here in 20 minutes.” She yelled and immediately dropped the phone call. That was Layla for you. She hardly takes no for an answer and likes to have her way, and right now, I have no other choice than to go over to the club. How I hate going there. Actually, she was lucky, as it was a club for elites, so only the very rich and powerful went there. So you can imagine the kind of tips you’d get if you were lucky enough to meet a kind, rich man or woman. I entered the club and quietly made my way to the bar, where she worked. She was busy attending to a customer when I walked in. “Hi boo,” I said, and her eyes immediately lit up when she saw me. “Hi, give me a sec.” She smiled and then returned to serving her client. “So tell me, baby, how was your day?” She asked, and I began to fill her in on all the details of my day. We chatted as she worked, and I even joined her to serve her clients at some point. After a while, I was a bit exhausted and pressed, so I decided to use the toilet. “Layla, I’m pressed and feel like using the toilet,” I said. “Okay, take a U-turn, and you’ll see a toilet on your left.” She replied. I nodded my head and made my way out. I was lost in my thoughts for a moment, and when I finally got a hold of myself, I had already forgotten if she had asked me to turn to my left or right. Deciding it was my right, I turned and headed for the toilet. The whole place was a bit isolated, but I decided to step further anyway. Surprisingly, I began hearing moans as soon as I stepped into the toilet hallway. "Oh, Xavier, yes.” “Oh yeah.” “f**k me harder, Xavier.” I gasped and furrowed my brows in surprise. For real? Who were those nasty people that couldn’t even wait to get home and just settled on f*****g in such a public place? I shook my head in bewilderment and just went ahead to use the toilet. I couldn’t wait to tell Layla. When I was done, I cleaned myself up, flushed the toilet, and left the toilet. I stepped outside and began looking for a wash basin to wash my hands, and then I found one and proceeded to wash my hands. I turned around to leave, and to my surprise, I saw a very handsome man standing in front of me, leaning on the wall. He looked so handsome, just like DemiGod. I couldn’t believe it, was he real? How could a human look so handsome??? He had this very beautiful tattoo, which made my throat go dry at the sight of it. I was speechless and didn’t even know what to say. I looked up to see his dark eyes boring into mine. “What are you doing here?” He suddenly asked in a cold tone.
