9 Rematch Once upon a time, April and her mother had been, while not exactly rich, well enough off to afford a day of shopping and lunch every now and then. April had always loved those days, free of the trappings of her mystical persona, out in the world with people who didn’t know what she did. Inevitably some of the purchases would be items for her job, another veil or tiny bells or perhaps a candle or incense. But mostly it was just a day to be herself with her mother, hunting for the perfect clothes, sampling all her favorite foods. The nicest of those days years gone by had been nothing like this day.
