CHAPTER 77

A VISIT TO THE DUNGEONS The brothers had a long talk with Mabel about Nicole. Getting more information about their mate’s parents, her father’s pack and the details surrounding their death. Done with her, they headed down to the dungeons where Adam was waiting for them at the entrance. “Everything, okay?” Vince asked as they walked in, Adam coming behind them. “Yes, Alpha,” Adam replied with a low bow. “Call me Vince. He’s Vance. And don’t bow at us,” Vince smiled at him, wanting to create a relaxed feeling between them and their warriors. He heard the low gasp from his head warrior. “Don’t be too rigid with us, Adam. Our father was friendly and we intend to continue in his footsteps.” “Sure, Vince,” Adam gave a small smile. “Is Tim here?” Vance asked. “He came an hour ago,” Adam answered as the turned a corner. “Alone?” “Yes, Vance.” The brothers sighed heavily. Savvy was still not showing interest in being their Beta female. “We can talk to Nicole about it,” Vance sighs into their mindlink. “I will do that,” Vince replied just before they reached the deepest part of the dungeon. Their feet echoed loudly on the stony floor as they proceeded to where Billie was being held. “Alphas,” the warriors standing guard over her cell greeted them as they approached. Beside them stood Tim. “You can leave,” Vance dismissed them. “You too, Adam.” Adam darted his eyes into the dark cell, hesitating. “Is there a problem?” Vince asked noticing Adam’s hesitation. “No, Al…I mean Vince,” his reply was met with a low whimper and rattling of chains from inside the cell. Adam gave one final look into the cell and walked away. His shoulders stooped and his steps dragging. The twins and their Beta didn’t miss these details. “Strange,” Tim muttered. “Open the cell,” Vance ordered, his palms itching to hold Billie’s neck. “Don’t do anything drastic,” Vince cautioned, feeling the anger rippling through his brother. “We need her to talk.” “I need to kill her,” Vance spat into their link, Axel’s gold eyes flickered between a deep gold to black. “Axel!” Vince growled into the link. “Kill who?” Tim asked as he opened the door of the cell. “Billie?” “Just bring her out, Tim,” Vince ordered again. Tim switched on the light in the cell to reveal Billie sleeping on the floor, her feet and wrists bound in chains and still in her clothes, her wounds now healed. Vance wasted no time, storming toward her and roughly shaking her awake. “Wake up!” he bellowed. As Billie's gaze swept over the occupants of the cell, it settled on Vince, her expression hardening into a scowl. The tension between them was palpable, a silent battle of wills brewing in the dimly lit space “How did you get your scent into the cologne you gave me?” Vance asked, scowling hard at her. She blinked her eyes. “My scent?” “Don’t try to deny it, b***h. We know you added your scent to it,” Vince’s voice was as stern as the look in his eyes. Daring her to deny. “This is between Vance and I…” she began to retort when Vance growled at her. “Don’t ever say my name!” Vance spat, cutting her off, his eyes full of revulsion towards her. She disgusted him as much as he disgusted himself. If not more. “Why did you add your scent to the cologne you gave me?” “I wanted you to smell of me since I am going to be your Luna and judging by how I was brought here and treated, it speaks to how much I mean to you,” she said obstinately. Tim snorted. “You’re so delusional.” “You won’t speak to me that way. I am to be your Luna!” she snapped, rising to her feet, the chains on her rattling. “You’re nothing to me,” Vance growled at her, his words ringing with finality as he caught her chin in a tight grip, his grey eyes almost going silver, flickering with the gold of his wolf. “Nothing that is what you are to me.” “You’re hurting me!” she gritted out, meeting his steely gaze with her own stubborn one, holding his wrist with her chained hands. “Listen to me, very well. It’s over between us. Get that into your skull. And don’t you ever lay a finger on our mate again.” “She can’t be your mate. You said I would be your Luna.” “I never promised you.” “You did.” “When? When did I tell you so, Billie?” Vance prayed she wouldn’t say it. He had checked all his memories and none showed he ever promised her such. “Your actions.” “My actions now show you that I don’t intend to anymore,” he shoved her away again. “And how did you do it? How did you add your scent to my cologne?” “You can’t treat me this way…” she cried out before a loud growl from Vince stopped her. “Answer the damn question!” he grabbed her upper arms in a vice like grip, shaking her vigorously. “As your alpha, I demand you to tell me,” his grey eyes turned a deep gold, Ares at the forefront, growling. Billie’s eyes grew wide with fear at seeing the gold colour of Vince’s eyes. She knew it was his wolf, and the aura he was releasing coupled with the alpha command rolling over her and her wolf, cut off any disobedience she was hoping to exhibit. Instantly she obeyed. “I…a witch helped me do it.” “Where’s the witch?” Vince asked. “My father found her for me.” “Was your father the one who suggested you mix your scent with the cologne?” Vince continued to question her. She nodded, whimpering. “He did so because Millie and I want to be your Lunas.” Vince gripped her arms tighter. “Why did you attack our mate at school?” Billie tried to fight the command, hurting her wolf in the process. The poor thing howled in pain and Billie had to relent. “She told everyone she is the Luna.” Vince turned slowly to look at his brother. Both surprised at this revelation. Hope stirred inside their hearts. “Is that why you attacked her?” “She asked for witnesses to come forward…” Billie licked her lips in apprehension, beads of sweat rolling down her face. She looked at Vance hoping he would come to her rescue as usual, but his eyes remained as steely as his brother’s. “Don’t look at me. Answer his questions,” Vance growled at her. “She…when we…we challenged her…called her out for stealing you two…” Two loud growls hit the walls of the cell. Billie cringed at the sounds. “Continue,” Vince whispered, his claws piercing into her skin. “You’re hurting me,” Billie cried. “Answer me!” “After we accused her, she declared herself the Luna and asked for witnesses for when she would bring us before the Council.” The twins felt a warm sensation drip into their chests, warming their hearts. Their mate said that? “When we didn’t stop saying it, she…uhm…I said some things to the students there that she didn’t like and then she attacked me.” “You accused your Luna of stealing her own mates? You also threatened the pack members and she defended them?” Vance said with pride in his voice. “The Council will surely hear of this and you will serve the punishment for accusing your Luna and threatening your own pack members,” Vince said stiffly and shoved her back to the floor.
