CHAPTER 84

MARKED? “Told you I marked for you for him,” the evil witch says as if she’s singing. This is the person that sent her to find me? My eyes dart back to him. This is Kaden? “Next time I will not only kill you but pull apart your body and burn each part slowly,” I say inside my head, throwing her a huge scowl and wishing she would just drop dead right now. “Cute, isn’t she?” Kaden smiles down at me, his multi-coloured eyes peering down at me with amusement and a sort of affection. “It’s time to make you mine.” He fists my hair in his palm, angling it painfully to the side, eliciting a loud yelp from me, and opens mouth, his canines elongating more and he drops his head to my neck. I try to struggle and fight him off, but can’t. His strong arms and the power used on me keep me still in his arms like a mannequin. “Ensure you go deeper than a mate would,” the bloody witch tells him. “Destroy her marking spot so no other male can ever claim her. Her words send chills down my spine. O Goddess, please help me. I don’t want to belong to this wolf for the rest of my life. My mates may have rejected me, but I would gladly receive their marks than this psycho wolf. I feel his lips on my skin, kissing my marking spot. He licks the place and it feels disgusting. My heart can’t stop beating in fright as his teeth graze my skin. Is this it? Am I going to be his? One last time I reach out to my mates, hoping for a connection. I shut my eyes tight when I feel his teeth sinking into my flesh, preparing myself for his full bite, but it doesn’t come. Instead, a powerful force pulls me away from him, making me to stumble back and crash to the ground. “Arggh!” I scream as my palms graze the rough ground painfully, hearing two loud growls and a seeing two dark blurs fly above my head. A loud thud follows the blurs and my eyes catch the sight of two massive black wolves, growling and snarling menacingly at Kaden, who is now also on the ground and has taken a defensive position. “s**t!” the witch hisses, “We have to leave, Kaden!” she screams at him. “I am not leaving without her!” he growls back at the wolves who return his growls with louder and angrier ones. Their hackles raised and paws spread out on the ground. A familiar warm feeling settles in my heart at the sight of the black wolves. A voice inside me purrs, “Mates.” They came! These are their wolves. One of them turns to his head to me, as if he heard me. He gives me a quick look-over, checking to see if I was hurt. I nod at him and he turns back just as Kaden shifts into a big red wolf, releasing a monstrous howl into the air. My mates release two equally monstrous howls, and in a swift move, both of them pounce on him and start to fight him. My heart thuds thunderously in my chest as I witness the fight, fearing for my mates, hoping they won’t get injured. My lips mutter a quick prayer to the Moon Goddess to keep them safe from the psycho werewolf. Paws hitting the ground reach me as more wolves from the pack jump out from the forest, growling and circling the fighting trio. One of the black wolves grips the red wolf’s back leg, immobilizing him for the other to bite down on his shoulder. Kaden’s wolf releases an annoying and angry howl, trying to wriggle free from the wolf holding his leg, but it didn’t look like he could. Pride flows through me as I watch my mates fight Kaden ferociously, tearing and biting into him. Kaden manages to claw the back of one of them, eliciting a painful grunt, yet he doesn’t relent. He jumps right back into the fight. “Please, be safe,” I whisper, tears forming on my lower lids, holding my hand close to my chest, following their movements with my eyes. I am so engrossed in the fight that I don’t notice two big brown wolves beside me. It’s only when one of them licks my face and rubs its jaw on my head that I realise I’m not alone. The darker one was bigger than the lighter one. Uncle Oscar and Savvy. “Don’t be foolish, we can’t win them. Almost all the pack is here and…” the witch hisses through clenched teeth, her fingers already moving in the air. Her hands pause midair, and she stares into the space behind me. “He’s with them,” she gasps, surprise and shock filling her eyes which she quickly masks. “Hello, Torin.” She smirks at him and start to move her hands fast in desperation. Kaden shakes off the two alphas on him, backing towards the witch. I turn at the sounds of the footsteps coming near me to see the man that came to the Alpha meeting. “Found a new toy, I see,” the man says in a calm voice, jerking his clenched chin at Kaden. His palms hold a faint blue flame with the appearance of water ripples. “Not a toy. A king,” she smiles as a ring of fire suddenly appears. “Guess we shall see later,” she winks wickedly at him, snaps her fingers, and with a loud poof, she and Kaden jump into the circle and it closes sharply. My mate’s wolves howl in protest at the disappearance of the two, beating their paws angrily on the ground. The other wolves howl along with them. Both dark wolves turn and find me still on the floor and approach me, their grey eyes flashing a deathly silver. They have the same height, body, and colour just like their humans. Only one small feature distinguished them. One of them had white patches of fur underneath. As they approach, my family moves back, allowing them space to surround me. They bend their heads touching mine, whining as they made contact with my skin. I reach up and touch their dark fur, relishing in their softness, sighing happily. Sparks and tingles sweep over my skin as I pass my palms over their warm flesh. One of them whines when he sniffs me and sees my bloody palms. The other growls lowly and both start to lick my palms. The saliva of your mate not only heals you, but also speeds up the healing process. It also helps to strengthen the bond. As their rough tongues glide over my palms, a sweet feeling settles into my stomach, filling me up with a kind of joy I have never known. Their tongues tickle my skin and unconsciously I giggle. Both stop, my eyes following them, confused at their behavior, as they run to a tree, disappearing behind it before appearing shirtless, sweaty and angry. Vince reaches me first, turning me around as he checks me. His eyes become more hard, silver lining the edges when he sees the blood on my neck. He runs his finger over the wound. “Does it hurt?” he asks, looking at me for the first time. I shake my head and he pulls me tight against his chest burying his face into my neck and inhaling my scent. I feel his tense body relaxing slowly. “Thank the Goddess you’re safe.” he sighs, his worry strong in his voice, as strong as his arms around me. I don’t care about what they did or what my decision concerning our bond is going to be. All I care about is that right now, I feel safe in the arms of my mate. I can sense his deep fear and concern for my safety. I sniff him too, resting my head on his warm, sweaty and strong chest, wrapping my arms around his waist. Hearing his beating heart slowly calming down. His strong scent pushing out my fear and replacing it with a feeling of safety. I feel safe in his arms. I called and they came. They came to save me from Kaden. They? My eyes furrow when I can’t find Vance near his brother. Vince eases away a little to look at me. “Are you sure you’re fine?” I nod, glancing briefly at him still searching for my other mate. “I am here, Brown eyes” his voice announces, coming from another part of where we are standing. Far from us. Far from me. And his eyes when they find mine, are full of fear, regret and a deep longing.
