CHAPTER 90

MISSING AGAIN? Drake charged into the house, the cacophony of growls and crashes growing louder as he raced into the living room. “Enough!” he thundered, freezing his two grown-up pups in mid-action. His eyes trailed their bloody bodies, shock and fear registering in them as he took in their menacing glares. Vince and Vance growled fiercely at each other, their bodies tensed for another round of fighting. “I said enough!” Drake thundered again through the room, commanding attention. “What is going on with you two?” Malia screamed as she joined her mate. Her eyes widened in both shock and anger, surveying the chaos. Tables were upturned, chairs broken, claw marks decorating the walls and furniture. In the midst of the wreckage stood her two sons, breathing heavily, snouts almost touching, teeth bared in a primal display of dominance. “Start fighting again and I will forget you’re the alphas,” she warned them. “Now shift!” it wasn’t a command from a ranked wolf but from a mother to her pups. “Now!” Reluctantly, the two glanced at her, seeing the fierce determination in her eyes. Her wolf peered at her cubs. “I mean it,” she affirmed. Both huffed at each other before shifting back, their gazes still locked in a silent battle. Drake quickly shielded his mate’s face with a palm before she caught sight of their naked bodies. “Oh, the fight has ended?” Torin voice cut through the tension, as he walked out of the kitchen, nursing a huge bowl of ice cream. Malia scowled at him. “You are here and didn’t think of stopping them?” He shrugged nonchalantly. “How? I don’t do that mindlink thing you wolves do.” She snatched the bowl away from his hands. “Give me that! Your powers can’t stop them but you can take my ice cream.” She shoved him off the way and marched into the kitchen. “Hey, that’s the best ice cream I have tasted in a while,” Torin whined, pouting as he followed Malia into the kitchen. “Can you tell me what happened this time?” Drake asked, glaring furiously at his sons. “I need to get some clothes first,” Vince replied curtly, his gaze still fixed on Vance. “Yeah right. Run upstairs where she is,” Vance sneered, a smirk playing on his lips. “You want her to see you, don’t you?” “That’s the only way for us to get clothes, dickhead. Of course, you won’t know because not everyone thinks with their…” Vince’s retort was cut off by Drake’s booming voice. “Shut up!” Drake’s voice boomed over the room, his frustration boiled and his patience was wearing thin. “Who is upstairs?” Both brothers didn’t reply, but he could see that their eyes going still as they communicated in their mindlink. He tried breaking into their mindlink, but they were too skilled in blocking him out. They created a strong mental barrier, shielding their thoughts from him. “Why do you two want to send me to meet my ancestors early?” Drake groaned, looking at his sons who looked eager to rip each other apart. Something he feared could affect the overall health of the pack. “Who wants to do that to you, honey?” Malia voice floated into the room as she returned, followed closely by Torin, who had a smaller bowl of ice cream in hand and a little pout on his face. “They won’t tell me who is upstairs,” Drake explained. “Oh, I know who is upstairs,” Torin’s pout disappeared instantly as he chipped in happily, licking his spoon clean. “It’s Nicole, their mate.” Vince and Vance looked away from each other, throwing him a strong glare. Vince’s expression shifting from defiance to guilt. He insulted his mate. “What did you do?” Drake’s voice filtered into the mindlink, demanding an explanation from his sons, feeling the guilt seeping from Vance’s aura. “What?” Torin shrugged, seeing all four looking at him. “Why is she here?” Malia turned to her boys. “Oh, I know that too,” Torin raised his hand, holding the spoon aloft. ‘She got attacked by Kaden…” “Kaden attacked Nicole?” Malia's voice dripped with disbelief as she regarded her sons. “And both of you are here fighting?” “Shut up, Torin,” Vance cut him off abruptly. “If you say so. I will be in the kitchen while you four solve this family issue,” Torin declared, retreating back into the kitchen. "Why are you two still standing there naked? Get some clothes on.” With a frustrated sigh, she turned away from them, shoving her face into her mate’s chest. Though, they are wolves, they are still her sons, and they were grown men now with a mate. “We can’t Nicole is upstairs. She could come out and see us. We don’t want her to see us naked,” Vance flashed Vince a wicked smile as he replied their mother. “I will get some clothes. Stay here,” Drake gently eased Malia off his chest and darted upstairs. “So, anyone want to tell me what happened while we were gone?” Malia asked, still backing them. Vince sighed deeply, resting both palms on his waist. “Kaden somehow managed to control Nicole to come to the forest and almost marked her.” “What?!” Malia almost whipped her head back but stopped, remembering her sons were naked. “Damn you two! Why did you have to fight inside?” She cursed. “And what did you do to him?” The brothers exchanged uneasy glances before turning their attention back to their mother’s back. “He disappeared into a portal with the witch he came with,” Vince replied regretfully. “Did you say Nicole was upstairs?” Drake voice echoed from the top of the stairs. “Yeah,” both sons chorused. Drake threw the clothes in his hands at them. “Here.” Both snatched the clothes, hastily dressing themselves as they watched their father’s face, gauging his expression. “Why are you asking, Dad?” Vince’s voice trembled as he feared the worst had happened again. Vance pulled the strings of his boxers tight around his waist. “Dad?” “I can’t find her in any of the rooms,” he announced. Both brothers growled in unison, bolting up the stairs. “Wait,” Drake stopped them, focusing on Vance. “Vance, why does your room look like an angry wolf passed through it?” The brothers exchanged frantic looks before sprinting upstairs, their hearts pounding with dread at the thought of Nicole's whereabouts.
