CHAPTER 109

Being cocooned in Vince’s arms feels so perfect. His scent calming me, pushing out the negative emotions, and making way for new emotions. Good ones. I feel a stirring in my heart, a sweet feeling travelling all over my body as they crowd around me. My body begins to relax and my mind is giving off a new found energy. Peace. My tears have reduced to sniffles and I pull my face away from his neck. “Hey,” Vance says, wiping my face with his thumb. “Stop crying, please.” I offer him a small, quick smile and nod. “I am sorry I ruined your shirt,” looking up at Vince. “It’s just a shirt and you need to stop apologizing.” Vance leaves my side and starts pacing about. “We never knew you felt a pull towards us,” he stops, looking at me. “We…” he stops, sighing deeply, shaking his head in regret. “We never knew, brown eyes.” “I know,” murmuring as I ease out of Vince’s embrace. Surprised that he didn’t insist I remain. “I need to finish what I want to say.” “We’re all ears,” Vince sighs, rising. “I wish I can just say yes and let everything slide, but I still feel conflicted with you two.” Both share a glance before returning to me. “A part of me is still scared, afraid that you would do the same thing to me again…” “You think we will reject you again?” Vince looks incredulously at me. “I know it sounds silly…” “It’s not silly,” Vance cuts me short. “Your feelings are legit. It’s normal to be scared. It’s perfectly normal.” Vince crosses his arms, giving me an intense look. “What is your decision?” “I haven’t made any decision yet. I need time to think. I have a lot on my plate as it is right now. I am and alpha wolf whose wolf has to shift. I need to know more about my father’s pack and my inheritance. I also have to break my mates away from that evil b***h down in the dungeon. I need to end it!” gritting out the last sentence. Silence reigns around the room as they digest my words. “Whatever your decisions are, we will respect it. Take all the time you need to find your feet. We promise to be there for you all the way. We just ask that you make us a part of every decision you make and take. We want to be a part of your life, sweetheart and…” Vince licks his lips in apprehension, glancing at Vance who nods at him. “Don’t reject us,” Vance completes for him, his gaze on me. As if I can. “If it’s any consolation, we want you to know that there’s never going to be anyone for us, but you,” Vance holds my gaze steady. “Why the change of heart?” I believe there should be a reason other than the mate bond. “What changed?” Vince rises from his chair, approaching me. “Everything changed. Our entire world did. We couldn’t find you anywhere in the pack and your family and Tim were keeping mum about your whereabouts.” Vance adds. “When we rejected you, we thought we would be able to go on with our lives like nothing happened, but we were wrong. Dead wrong. Nothing worked anymore in our lives. Our wolves were at war with us, demanding we find you.” True. Wolves usually disagree and war with their humans on the issue of mates. They always want their mates regardless of who they are. Unlike their humans who looked on the outside, status, money and position. I want to meet their wolves again. “And?” “We did search, even tried breaking into your house. Finally, when Tim mentioned that you went to another pack, searching for a second chance mate, we lost it,” their eyes flash gold, showing their wolves hated those two words. “I owe Tim a big hug,” I chuckle, loving that he kept me hidden just like I wanted. “I owe him a huge punch in the gut,” Vince grunts, with a displeased look. “And I owe him an entire week of training the young ones, morning till evening,” Vance adds, equally displeased at the memory of what Tim said. Laughing at the two of them. “Neither one of you is going to touch my soon to be brother-in-law,” making a subtle threat. “He was just following my instructions.” “You asked him not to tell us?” Vance queries. Shaking my head. “Not him. Dr. Mel,” Both sigh at the same time. “Why would you do that, brown eyes?” Vance asks in a sad tone. I suddenly start to feel naked as I relieve that day and how they made me feel. “I…I…It was a bad experience for me. My first one and I didn’t want anyone to know. Especially with what those girls said at class to me,” rubbing my arms and willing the negative emotions that seemed to be crawling out again. “I felt naked already, there was no need to expose my nakedness to the public again.” Vance sinks into a chair as if struck by something in his chest, his eyes going from gold to grey. Vince closes his eyes, biting down on his lips and shaking his head. Their hands clench at their sides and their bodies trembled. “We are sorry mate,” a rough voice comes from Vance. It's his wolf. His eyes are bright gold. “It was never our intention to make you feel that way.” Another rough voice speaks, turning I see Vince looking like Vance. His wolf is present too. “Not their intentions also. They just acted on a whim without any thought.” “We accept you, Nicole Bennyson as our mate and Luna of the Firestone Pack,” both of them chorus, looking seriously at me. A strike of lightning ripples through me, releasing warmth and peace inside me. I feel Anaya stir in my head, her walls come down and she peers through my eyes at them. “Mate,” Vance/his wolf, mutters in reverence. “Your wolf is watching,” Vince/his wolf quips in with a light chuckle. “Yes, she is,” smiling widely as I feel my connection to them stronger. They withdraw and my mates come back to me. “We accept you again, Nicole Bennyson as our mate and Luna of the Firestone Pack,” the brothers chorus just like their wolves. Bursting into giggles as I feel our mate bond fill with joy, bouncing round it like small balls, “They already said it.” “We know and want to reiterate it,” Vance sighs deeply as he exchanges a look with his brother. For the first time in days, I notice their face brighten. A weight seemed to be lifted off their shoulders as I watch them stand straight, their heads raised high and shoulders wide. “Do you accept?” Vance c***s a brow at me. Narrowing my eyes and smiling at him. “Thought you weren’t going to rush me?” Vince slaps his chest playfully. “Ignore him, sweetheart. We have other important things to do. After the pack dinner tonight, our father will lift the command,” Vince announces. “There’s a pack dinner tonight?” I look between them, wide eyed. “Yeah, and we intend to announce you as our Luna to the entire pack,” Vance announces also, rising from his seat towards me. “I believe you were asking for clothes, my Luna.” “Our Luna,” Vince corrects Vance as his eyes clouds sending a mindlink to someone.
