CHAPTER 111

PACK DINNER 2 VANCE Two warriors immediately intercept Dean and Theresa as they stomp towards us. “Get away from my front!” he growls at the warriors, but they stand their ground. “I would advise you to stay where you are, Mr. Ashton,” one of the warriors says in a warning tone. “Who the hell are you calling Mister?” Theresa huffs at him. “He’s the Gamma…” “Ex-Gamma, you mean,” our Dad cuts in, rising to his feet. “You are no longer the Gamma of the pack, Dean.” Turning to him, Dean scoffs. “They don’t have a Gamma yet, that makes me still the Gamma.” Vince gets to his feet. “Since that is the case, Gamma Dean Ashton, you’re hereby released from your duties as the Gamma of the Firestone Pack.” A loud wail fills the room as Theresa clutches her mate’s hand. “You can’t do that!” “I can and I have,” Vince lets out in a clipped tone, narrowing his eyes wickedly at her. “You will allow them?” Dean says to our Dad. “After everything I have done for this pack.” Smacking his napkin on the table, our father yells, glaring at him. “Don’t you dare say such nonsense to me! You know perfectly well what happens when an Alpha passes down the title. Both his Beta and Gamma are replaced!” “But this is ridiculous, Drake. Is it because of her?!” Theresa yells, pointing at Nicole, who seems to jerk in shock at the mention of her name. “Don’t you dare drag her into this!” I growl at her, kicking my chair back. “She has absolutely nothing to do with the change in power.” “But she has everything to do with you breaking up with Billie, the one you promised to be your Luna!” Murmurs drift over the hall. I can feel Vince’s emotions flood our twin bond. From the corner of my eye, I see Nicole’s shoulders drop and her palm clench into a fist. I have to do damage control. This woman will not destroy what we are trying to build with Nicole. “No, she doesn’t. And I never promised to make Billie my Luna,” I grit out clearly. “Whatever we had is over. A long time ago.” “Because of her! Everything was fine between you two before she came along.” Theresa yells, pointing at Nicole and turning to the hall. “This girl here snatched Alpha Vance from Billie. Who, by the way, lies in a dungeon after this girl…” pointing at Nicole again. “Attacked her at school!” “I would tread carefully if I were you, Theresa,” Vince warns her as Ares flashes in his eyes. “That girl is my mate.” “The one you…” “Enough!” our father barks, stopping her. “You either sit with the rest of the pack or leave this place. I will not tolerate you disrespecting my sons or their mate!” Theresa goes into a fit of laughter, throwing her head back and surprising us all. When she’s done, she looks round the hall once again. “This is total bullshit. She can’t be their mate. We all know who she is. She’s a nobody. Someone we don’t know where she came from or who her parents are.” Growling loudly, Vince and I inch towards her. “As your Alpha, I command you…” Vince starts but is cut off by Theresa. “You’re not my Alpha, Vince. Neither are you Vance,” she scoffs, glaring at the two of us. “Then you won’t mind if we banish you,” I say. Their eyes widen in shock and fear. “I, Alpha Vince Stone…” Vince starts to say the words but stops suddenly at the same time I feel Nicole hold my clenched palm. Her touch calms me down, easing out the tension in me. Both of us turn slowly to look at her and see her shaking her head. “Don’t do it, please,” she pleads, looking from me to Vince. “They just want their daughter.” “Daughters, you sure aren’t a retard,” Theresa spits, bending to Nicole’s height. Both of us start to move, but Nicole tugs us back, still looking at us and shaking her head. Her beautiful brown eyes gaze up at us, pleading and making me love her more. She’s so perfect. Any other person would have gotten to her feet and faced off with the Ashtons or even encouraged us to banish them. Yet, here she sits between us, pleading for us to show mercy. Nicole, the merciful. “Clearly, our Luna doesn’t want your family to be banished,” a feminine voice that sounds familiar comes from the crowd. It cuts through the tension and the silence like a hot knife slicing through hard butter. Every face turns to the voice, and I recognize her now. She was the girl that spoke up at the school meeting. The one that called Nicole Luna. “If I were you two, I would fall to my knees and show my gratitude,” she giggles through her words, gesticulating with her hands and sporting a smirk. “Really, I would.” “And who are you? Do you even know who you are talking to?” Theresa squints her eyes at the girl, her face contorting in revulsion. “A bloody omega, talking to us,” scoffing and turning to us. “You see what you just caused? Just because you two are frolicking with her, every omega in the pack thinks they can…” “Yes, we can. We are tired of your bullshit, Mrs. Ashton. Enough of you and your family parading yourselves like royalty. Do us all a favor and just disappear.” “Yeah, let’s all breathe some fresh air,” another voice says. “Thank you, alpha, for breaking up with her daughter,” and another. “You helped us dodge a bullet,” and another. The entire hall breaks into insults and ridicule for the Ashtons. “Silence!” Dean roars, pushing out his aura, but Vince and I push out ours, counteracting his and releasing our members from his aura. “You will leave this place right now. Your daughters will be sent home when we are done with them,” I command before pulling back our auras. “Adam, see them out and ensure they remain in their home.” “Yes, Alpha,” Adam calls three more warriors to join him to lead the two out. Dean and his mate scowl at us before they leave the hall. When the doors close, I let out a relieved sigh and gaze down at Nicole. Her eyes are still downcast.
