New Enemies

~Serena's POV~

It’s been a week since I started my training and I have improved a lot. My muscles are stronger than before and Taylor said I can start fighting too. He told me that I can start practising with Leah. This way my fighting skills will be improved and I’ll be able to learn how to know my enemy's next move.

I stood and went into my closet. I have plenty of clothes now, all thanks to Taylor and Leah. She got me plenty of new clothes, pair of sports shoes and sneakers. And no matter how much I thank them for their sweet gesture, it will always be less. I've decided that I’ll buy something for them when I’ll start working.

I changed into my workout outfit and headed towards the gym.

To my surprise, Noah was there too. He looked at me and for a second I thought that I saw him smiling at me but then his expression went neutral. He diverted his eyes from me and started talking to Taylor.

It was hard for my wolves and me to stay away from our mate for this long and ignore him like he wasn’t here but this is how it should be. Also, he looks unaffected, it looks like that my presence doesn’t affect him. So I will try my best to make it even.

After doing the warm-up, I got in the ring with Leah and we started surrounding each other. She was looking at me like I was her prey. She took the charge and threw a punch at me but I easily dodged her attack. I kicked her from behind and she fell but gathered herself before I punched her. She twisted my arm and then kicked me.

She was thinking of tricking me when she positioned herself in the right direction but I knew what she was planning. I made it look like that I fell for the act but when she turned left to catch me instead of right, I ran in the right direction and elbowed her. She ran towards me but I kept on running in the ring until she was tired. I punched her two times and grabbed her hands so she couldn’t move.

“Enough for today. You fought well Serena and Leah you need more practice. She is a beginner but she gave you a pretty good fight.” Noah declared.

He looks proud.

I smiled at him as we moved out of the ring.

Leah slapped my arm, “How the hell did you do that? I am beta's daughter and sister and well trained also. How did you manage to do that?”

Oh, Leah, you are beta but I am an alpha female. I was reading your mind throughout our fight but I can’t tell you this.

I saw everyone looking at me so I replied, “In my clan, I used to watch warriors training. My father used to train our clan members, he always told me to observe the enemy and a few tricks to defend myself. He was the best fighter.” I replied proudly talking about my dad.

“If he was the best then how he died? He was supposed to be alive, not dead. Obviously, he was not the ‘best'." Catherine scoffed.

I was far more than angry, how dare she talk about my father like that!

I stepped in her direction but Noah caught my arm. Tingles and sparks spread throughout my arm and I gritted my teeth, I know what he was trying to do. He knows I am angry and trying to calm me. I was longing for his touch but right now, I will not stay cool when someone is talking about my father that way.

Noah spoke before me, “Catherine stay within your limits. You may have a different perspective but you don’t have any right to disrespect her or her father. Think before you speak otherwise I won’t think before punishing you for your big mouth.”

His voice was authoritative and he was holding my arm the whole time, it gave me goosebumps. He defended me. I never thought this will happen.

Catherine looked down in shame and said, “Sorry alpha.”

“Don’t apologize to me, apologies to Serena.”

Saying I was happy will be an understatement, I was on cloud nine. Finally, my mate took a stand for me.

I smiled at Catherine, and she looked at me and said, “Sorry.”

Noah growled lowly, enough for her to hear and she instantly said, “I am sorry Serena.”

I’m never going to accept her apology, she disrespected my father. No apology to anyone who insults my parents or family but I didn’t want to disrespect Noah, so I gave her a short nod.

Noah dismissed everyone except Taylor and me, he told me to continue with my training and left. I continued my training for one more hour and then Taylor told me to rest.

I went back to my room with a smile on my face. I fought well and my mate defended me in front of his pack.

With all these short happy moments, I started dancing and singing in the shower.

My little show went on for good 20 minutes and then, I walked out wrapping a towel around me. But after stepping out of the bathroom, I halted in my tracks. What the... What the heck he is doing here?

What Noah is doing in my room?

“I know you own this house but that doesn’t mean you will enter my room without my permission!” I yelled at him.

He didn’t answer me instead, he was breathing heavily and was looking at me from head to toe. I realized that I’m in a towel and I quickly made a move towards my closet but Noah's growl stopped me. I saw his eyes going from green to black and black to green, gosh... he is trying to control his wolf. He took a step towards me and I took a step back. He closed his eyes, growled, and jolted out of my room.

I stood there shocked. What just happened?

After a minute I ran towards the door and locked it. Did I forget to lock the door before?

Sere said, “Our mate lost his control when he saw you in the towel.”

“Like I don’t know that,” I scoffed.

“Then why did you ask?” Star replied with her lycan grin.

I didn’t know she can grin.

Sere said, “I think, things may change between us. First, he defended you in front of everyone, and now this.”

I rolled my eyes, “It was his wolf doing Sere.”

“But it was him who defended you not his wolf.” I agree with that, it was he who spoke for me.

Star spoke, “I know that both of you are happy but don’t forget you made new enemies Serena. Vanessa is already planning to take you down and Catherine won’t forget what happened today. She may try to do something. We have to stay on alert always.”

This is Star, always on alert. I agree with her, Vanessa is my enemy but Catherine, I don’t think she sees me as her enemy. I think she only hates me because I was rogue. But I have to be cautious with both of them.

“One more thing Serena, why did Noah come to your room?” Star asked.

Well... good question. Why he was here? Did he want to talk? Did he change his mind about me? But he never spoke to me before.

Ugghhh!! Why do you keep disturbing me alpha? I sighed, I need to know why he came here.

I quickly got dressed and moved out of my room with a silly smile on my face. His arrival in my room is making me grin like a Cheshire cat.

Mrs. Beck cornered me and said, “So little girl what's the reason behind this pretty smile?"

I bit my lip and tried to hide my smile.

She continued, "I think a good fight right? I heard you gave a good fight to Leah and your training was longer than usual. Now come eat something. A fighter like you needs energy always.”

I love when she calls me little girl.

She cooked pizza, steaks, and brownies. “Mrs. Beck, thank you. I love all of these.”

She patted my shoulder and I started digging into my plate.

With a satisfied stomach, I left the kitchen and reached into the living room. I was looking at the kids playing there when Lily came and said, “Hey.”

I narrowed my eyes, she never talked to me before.

What happened all of a sudden that my stubborn mate was standing in the middle of my room and now Lily wants to talk to me?

When I didn’t reply, she continued, “I know you thought that I don’t like you but it’s not what you think. I don’t hate you. I just, don’t want to hurt Catherine.”

Alright... So if she is nice to me then Catherine is hurt. I asked, “Then why are you talking to me now? Don’t you think Catherine will be hurt if she saw you talking to me?”

She sighed, “We had a rogue attack on our clan 2 years ago, her parents died protecting the clan. But I know all rogues are not the same. One rogue wolf was forced to fight. He told alpha that he fought because his mate was held hostage by other rogues. He didn’t have any option so he joined the fight but didn’t kill anyone. I could have died if it wasn’t for him who saved me. I believe that not every rogue is a rogue by their choice and alpha told us about you. It wasn’t your choice either.”

I feel sad for Catherine. She has the same story as mine the only difference is that she still has her friends and her clan who always have her back.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t know that. I lost my parents in a rogue attack too. I know how it feels and now I know why she doesn’t like me. I’m ok if she doesn’t like me for being a rogue though it wasn’t my choice, but still, insulting my father was not good.”

She nodded, “I know. She shouldn’t have said that and she feels sorry for that. Can we leave all these things behind and move forward?” She politely asked.

I read her mind to find out if she is being genuine or not. I smiled when I found she was being honest with me and nodded.

She smiled, “That's great. I’ll see you later.”

I smiled, slowly things are falling into their right place. But... my mate. I need to know why big bad alpha was in my room.
