Chapter 7Wednesday, January 1st
Keith, Jason, and Zach kept watch throughout the night. Keith woke Bobby every two hours. Jason and Zach laid in recliner an ER nurse found in another cubicle. Keith lay next to Bobby.
Bobby woke early that morning in a daze. “Where am I?”
Keith opened his eyes and drew him close. “You’re in the hospital. I’m with you, and so are Jason and Zach.”
Bobby’s eyes began to leak. “It wasn’t a dream, was it? My parents are dead.”
Keith sat up and gathered up Bobby in his arms. “No, I’m afraid it wasn’t, baby. There was an accident. I’m here for you.”
Bobby said sadly, “You’ll leave me. You threw me out like yesterday’s trash.” Tears dripped down his nose.
“I’m not going anywhere. I’ll be right beside you. I let you leave once. I can’t do it again.”
