Ottilie POV
Thank goddess for Lily. As I stood there naked in the forest I remembered that because I had finally shifted, I could mindlink with other shifters in the pack. Lily came to my rescue with new clothes and let me hide out in her room all day. I couldn't face going to school, the whole place would be buzzing with gossip about the twins birthday celebrations and the incident at the club with Felix. Lily had told me that Felix hadn't turned up to school, rumour had it he was being held in the dungeons.
I knew I had to get back to my room though and thought it would be better to do it before the triplets got back from school. In my stupidity though I'd forgotten about the Luna Maria and as I walked through the entrance of the packhouse she was standing right there, mid argument with Harry.
"He is your future Gamma," she shouted at him, "I don't care what he did to that s**t, you've only got her word for it anyway."
Harry opened his mouth to respond then looked past her straight at me.
I froze, but before I could leave, Luna Maria whipped around and saw me. Her eyes blazed with anger as she marched over to where I was standing.
"YOU," she snarled as she reached me, picking me up by my neck and throwing me up against the nearest wall. "I should have killed you when I had the chance, you may have my sons fooled but I know what you are, a traitorous little Omega s**t."
I let her hold me against that wall, her aura having no impact on me whatsoever. I smiled impassively at her which made her even angrier and she started screaming at me incoherently.
We could crush her, said Ariana dangerously, let me out and watch as I rip her to pieces.
She’s not worth it, I replied and I don’t want her to see us, we need to be careful remember, we can’t trust her. We can’t trust any of them. My resolve hardened as I looked at Harry over her shoulder doing nothing just watching us. He’s pathetic I added. Ariana said nothing, clearly she agreed with me but she wasn't willing to say anything.
“Mum stop,” he said feebly, “Felix acted on his own accord, Ottilie did nothing to deserve being assaulted by him.”
"Luna Maria,” I said softly, “I don't lie and trust me if I was going to I would come up with something better than this. And for the record, I want nothing to do with your sons, after the way you and they have treated me I’d rather die than spend the rest of my life in this horrible place.” A look of pain flashed across Harry’s face.
She lifted her arm to slap me and I closed her eyes waiting for the sting but it didn’t come. Harry had caught her arm and flung her on to the floor and was standing over her breathing heavily as she looked at him in shock.
“You will not hurt her,” he growled, his eyes swirling black. “The next time you touch her it will be the last thing you do.”
‘Managed to find your balls did you?” I said to him, the Luna gasping at my words as I pulled myself together, my eyes full of disdain, “I didn’t ask for your help.”
His eyes narrowed. “Sure, because it looked like you had it all in hand Princess, it’s ok, you can thank me later.” My cheeks reddened as I remembered where we were the last time he’d said that to me.
Ignoring him I stomped up the stairs to my room, slamming the door and locking it behind me. My heart was racing, heat rushing through me as stripped and ran into the shower, turning it on full blast.
Good luck, chuckled Ariana, a cold shower won’t do much, you need our mates, your heat is coming, the longer that you're around them the more we will want them.
Please Ariana, I begged, I can’t do this with them, you saw how Harry just stood there, how am I meant to ever forgive them or trust them again.
Give them a chance, she pleaded, look how Harry defended you the second he thought that b***h was going to hurt you.
I didn’t reply, I just didn’t know what to say to her. I was fighting my feelings for them but it was exhausting. I leaned my head against the cool glass, letting the cold water wash over me, calming me down. I don’t know how long I stayed like that, but it was dark outside and I was shivering when I finally walked into my room, wrapped in a towel.
Someone knocked softly on the door, almost as if they’d been waiting for me to finish. Without thinking I crossed my room and opened it. I don’t know who was more surprised, me finding Harry on the other side or Harry, that I’d actually opened the door.
“I’ve been knocking for a while,” he said sheepishly. “Can we talk?”
I pulled my towel round me, “urm sure,” I said stepping back, “come in, just let me get dressed first.”
Harry POV
I sat on the end of her bed as I waited for her to get changed. The door of the bathroom was frosted glass so I could see the outline of her body as she dried herself. I inhaled sharply as she dropped her towel and reached for her clothes. It was so incredibly erotic, the way she slowly pulled her clothes on, her hands smoothing out any creases. I noticed that she didn’t put on any underwear, a heat took over me and I stood up and began pacing the floor.
I heard her enter the room again and she padded over the sofa, watching me quietly as I tried to control myself.
“Come and sit,” she offered and almost like I had no choice in the matter I went and sat next to her. I had been a ball of angst all day but now I was near her everything within me calmed down.
“It’s your wolf,” she said, seeing the look of confusion on my face, “I feel the same whenever I’m close to you or your brothers, the mate bond must calm us.”
“But I don’t have my wolf yet,” I replied, even more confused, “how can I feel the mate bond when I’ve not even shifted?”
“I don’t know,” she admitted, “Ariana seems to think we’re special, she won’t tell me how though.”
“Who’s Ari…”
“My wolf,” she said quickly. “Sorry I thought Noah or Jamie would have told you.”
“No,” I sighed heavily, “I’ve not really been around that much and Noah's barely speaking to me after how I treated you at school.”
The silence stretched out in front of us before I turned to say what I’d came here to say.
“I’m sorry,” I blurted out. “I had no idea what Mum was doing to you but it’s not excuse. I did know what the pack was doing to you, I just thought if I intervened it would have made it worse and look that’s not an excuse either, goddess I’m f*****g this up.”
I felt her hand on my thigh and I looked at her shocked.
“It’s OK,” she said softly. “I mean it’s not, I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to forgive you, any of you but I know that you are sorry and that’s a start.”
“Is it?” I laughed bitterly, rubbing my eyes. “Goddess we’ve really f****d this haven’t we?”
“Ariana doesn’t seem to think so,” she said with a small smile. “She thinks I should give you all another chance.”
I looked at her, a small amount of hope filled me as I realised she wasn’t joking.
“Really?”
“Yes, but as I said, I don’t know if I can and it’s definitely going to take some time. I need you all to give me time.”
I nodded slowly and started to stand, stepping away from her.
“Where are you going,” she looked at me questioningly.
“I thought maybe you’d want to….” I tailed off as she suddenly grinned at me. My goddess that smile, I’d cross oceans, run through fire and leap from 100-story buildings to see her smile like that every day.
“I thought maybe we could watch a film? We’ve not really spent any time together and when we have it usually ends in us screaming at each other.” She patted the sofa next to her. “Only if you want to though?”
I couldn’t think of anywhere else I wanted to be, she was addictive and after a firm talking to from my brothers earlier I’d finally admitted to myself how much I wanted her.
“I’d love to,” I said sitting next to her, as close as I dared. She grinned at me again and settled in, pulling a blanket over us. She flicked through the channels and settled on a comedy I’d seen before.
“Is it good?” she said, “I’ve not really seen many movies before.”
A wave of guilt crashed over me as I realised why. “Yeah it’s a good choice,” I said trying to ignore the painful feeling in my chest, the same feeling I had whenever I thought about her childhood.
Two hours later the credits rolled and I didn’t dare to move. Ottilie had fallen asleep long ago and as she slept she’d nestled in further to me until she was curled around me, her small hand on my chest. I turned off the TV and gently stood, lifting her as I did so. I carried her over to the bed and tucked her in between the covers. I leant down to kiss her forehead and her eyes fluttered open.
“Mmmmm,” she said sleepily, reaching down to grab my hand, “stay with me,” she breathed, closing her eyes again whilst pulling me close. I hesitated, unwilling to push it, especially after she’d asked me to give her time.
“It’s ok,” she whispered, her eyes still closed. “I just want you next to me, you make me feel safe.”
My heart skipped a beat, her words meaning more to me than she probably realised. I slipped off my shoes, pulled off my jumper and climbed into bed next to her. She instantly curled around me, her fingers sleepily stroking my bare chest as she fell back to sleep.
I closed my eyes and drifted off as the scent of spiced vanilla and orange filled my senses and my dreams filled with visions of a huge white wolf with glowing purple eyes.
