Chapter 23: Date night

2224 Words
Ottilie POV I was utterly terrified for my date with Alpha Damon. I'd never been on a date before and I'd certainly never had anyone treat me with the kindness and gentleness that he had. I was already starting to fall for him, but I was so horribly confused by the whole situation. Part of me was desperate to run back to the triplets which I guessed was the mate bond, the other part of me wanted to wrap my legs around Alpha Damon and never let go. At least I looked good. Well Sophie told me that I did anyway. I hadn't wanted to wear a dress and now I was starting to get into my own groove when it came to clothes, I'd realised what I liked and what I didn't. Sophie said I should dress smart / casual which I hadn't a clue about it but with her help, I was pretty happy with the final result. I was wearing a brown suede miniskirt and a fitted ribbed white tank top. She'd draped a matching suede jacket over my shoulders and had forced me into a pair of sky-high stilettos I could barely walk in. My hair was blow dried to perfection and my make-up was minimal but perfect, just a hint of blusher and light pink lipstick. "You look completely f******e," she said, grinning as she looked me up and down, admiring her handiwork. Her eyes glazed over as someone mind linked her before she jumped up from the end of my bed. " Come on, Damon's downstairs waiting." We made our way down the stairs and I took a deep breath before walking into the entrance hall. My breath caught in my throat as I drank him in. He looked gorgeous. His jet black hair was twisted up into a bun away from his face, his bright blue eyes staring at me as I walked towards him. He'd rolled the sleeves up of his white shirt, showing off his muscular forearms. His ink was on show too, I loved tattoos and was itching to get one of my own. I looked up to meet his eyes and if I wasn't mistaken he gulped. Sophie gave me a little shove towards him, reminding me that she was there. "Have fun you two," she said, clearly very amused by his reaction to me. "Don't do anything that I would do." She cackled as she all but skipped out of the hallway. "Come on," said Alpha Damon softly, offering his arm, "There's a car waiting." I took his arm, trying desperately to ignore the sparks that spread through my body. He led me outside to a waiting SUV and held the door open for me as I climbed in. "Thank you Alpha Damon," I murmered. I jumped as he suddenly pulled my chin towards him. "Damon, please," he said, "or I won't be able to control myself." His eyes darkened, swirling to black. I nodded and he shut the door before joining me on the other side. The silence was deafening, you could cut the tension in the car with a knife, I needed to say something or I was going to launch myself on top of him. "Where are we going?" I asked brightly, turning towards him. He smiled as he took my hand in his, gently stroking the inside of my wrist with his thumb. "A suprise," he said mysteriously. "Is that ok?" I nodded, "I've never been on a date before, I've never really been taken anywhere before so yes, it sounds fun." His expression darkened slightly before he grinned at me, "Good, well I better pull out all the stops then." We had left the packlands at this point and were headed into a human city. I'd been to the shopping mall with Sophie but otherwise that was it. It wasn't that different to where we lived, it was just full of humans. We pulled up outside of a restaurant, the windows were blacked out and it basically looked empty. Damon jumped out of the car and ran round to my side, helping me out on to the sidewalk. "Trust me," he said, seeing my look of apprehension. We approached a heavy wooden door and he knocked forcefully before it swung open to let us in. We walked into a dark corridor and were greeted by an attractive blonde woman sat behind a desk. "Alpha Damon," she purred, bending forward to show off her cleavage, "what a pleasure to see you." Something inside me growled making Damon and the blonde jump. S**t, I definitely hadn't meant to let that out. Damon chuckled, putting his arm around my waist and pulling me closer. "My usual table please Ava." She looked at me with thinly veiled disgust before leading us through a dark green velvet curtain into the restaurant. It was spectacular, low lighting and comfortable seating, all the tables looked incredibly private, I couldn't even see who was sitting at them. We stopped at a private booth with a curtain across the front of it. "Let me know if you need anything at all," Ava purred again before walking away, swaying her hips just a little too much. I rolled my eyes and sat down, the jealously in me peaking. How was he on first-name terms with her? Had they had a thing? Did he bring all of his women here? "I come here a lot," Damon said, settling in front of me and pulling the curtain across to give us some privacy. "I actually own part of it, that's how she knows me." I nodded, not trusting myself to look at him. "I'm not like them Ottilie," he said softly, reaching across for my hand. "I don't sleep around, I've only ever been with one other person and well, that was because she was my mate." I stared at him in shock but before I could open my mouth a waitress appeared. "Two dry martini's please," he said, "and a bottle of 2009 Château Margaux. Do you like steak?" He asked, turning towards me. I nodded. "Two fillet mignons, both rare." He handed back the menus to the waitress and waited until she left before continuing. "Sorry is that ok? I just figured that you might get a bit overwhelmed with menu choices right now." "Yes," I said gratefully, I usually hated anyone doing things for me, but he was right, I wanted to talk, to get to know him and to not get caught up in my feelings of inadequacy. "What do you want to know?" He asked, suprising me. I didn't expect him to be as open as he was. "Who was your mate?" The waitress returned with our drinks.I took a big gulp of my martini, a warm feeling spreading through my body. "Alissa, her name was Alissa." A haunted look entered his eyes as he took a sip of his drink. "She was the most beautiful girl I'd ever seen, I grew up with her, she was one of my best friends and when we turned 18 we knew we were mates. I think we'd always known, it was why we were so close but in that moment, nothing else existed." He paused to take another sip. "What happened?" I asked softly. "She betrayed me," He said bleakly. "I caught her with her stepbrother, it turned out that they'd been sleeping together since they turned 16, she'd been using a witch to help her hide it so her cheating didn't affect me. She didn't want me, she just wanted to be my Luna and all that came with it." He looked devasted suddenly before shaking his head. "We rejected each other, although I had to force her to do it, she left with him immediately and I haven't seen them since." I remembered Sophie's odd comment about Damon when I told her about rejecting the triplets, this must have been what she was talking about. "I'm sorry Damon, it must have been awful." "It was, but it's over now and before I met you, I didn't think I'd have another chance at this. You've given me hope Ottilie." He looked at me intensely. I could feel colour rise up in my cheeks before I cleared my throat embarrassed. "Ok next question, how did you know my name? How did you know my mother?" He took a deep breath and removed something from his pocket. "Here, this might explain a little bit." He handed it to me and I unfolded it, realising it was a photograph. A photo of me, the triplets and a fourth boy that looked very much like Damon. That's why he felt so familiar, I knew I'd met him before. "We met as children when things between my father and uncle were more civil. I remembered your Mum, she was awesome." Tears pricked my eyes before I angrily wiped them away. "Thank you, she really was." "I'll help you find her Ottilie, both of them. I don't believe they tried to betray my uncle, they just weren't those kind of wolves." Tears filled my eyes again, "thank you," I whispered, wiping them away again as the waitress appeared again with our food. The rest of the evening passed without incident. The food was divine, the wine even better and Damon was, well perfect. He was funny, articulate, he talked about books, music, places he'd been, places that he wanted to visit. He told me a little about his dad, I had no idea that he was so sick. "They want to meet you," he said hopefully. "I'd love that." Something filled his eyes, I couldn't tell what but he looked happy. Damon POV When I saw her before our date I could barely breathe. She looked insane, her long slender legs disappearing into a mini skirt, I wanted to throw her over my shoulder, take her upstairs and take her over and over again. My wolf was running circles in my head making it hard to concentrate. Seeing her jealousy when Ava did her usual gave me hope. She was funny too, once we'd got off the serious topics she really made me laugh. She seemed genuinely interested in me, her laugh lighting up the air around us. I wanted to be near her always, she talked about her dreams, about what she wanted to study at college. All I wanted was to help her achieve them, I vowed that while I lived, I would do anything to protect her. The car home was torture. I'd helped her in and she'd moved up towards me. Her head resting on my shoulder. My hand rested gently on her thigh, my thumb gently stroking her bare skin. I could feel her whole body react, and the car filled with the scent of her arousal. I knew if I could smell her then our driver could and I didn't want to share. "Stop the car," I ordered, the second we got onto our packlands, "I want to show you something," I offered at the look of her confusion. We jumped out and watched as the car sped away from us. "Do you trust me?" I asked, turning her to face me. She nodded, her eyes flickering to my lips. I was desperate to kiss her but I knew if I did we weren't going anywhere. I'd take her right here and I didn't want our first time to be like that. I began to shift, my clothes ripping as my muscles grew and fur began to sprout all over me. She stood back unafraid and watched as I shifted into my wolf. Mate, purred Leo as he padded towards her. She smiled as he rubbed himself around her body, purring even more as she rubbed the fur between his ears. We dropped onto our knees, trying to get her to climb on top of us. She understood immediately and giggled as she climbed on, holding on tight as we began to race through the forest. the trees and bushes a blur. It was an incredibly intimate thing to allow another on your back as a wolf and she'd done it twice now, I felt closer to her than ever before. We stopped as we came to a clearing and I padded softly to the top of the hill. You could see all the packlands from here, the moon shone over them, whisps of smoke coming from the chimneys in the town. A few wolves howled below us, undoubtedly going for an evening run. She slid off my back and walked to the edge. "Wow," she breathed. It was an incredible view. I shifted back, retrieving a bag of clothes let I'd left behind a tree earlier and dressing quickly. I wrapped my arms around her and breathed in her scent, Leo was going crazy, demanding that I mate and mark her now. I can't, she's still mated to our cousins. He growled in response, retreating to the corner of my mind. "What's wrong?" she said as my body tensed. I stared deep into her eyes, my thumb caressing the side of her face. "Leo, my wolf," I sighed heavily, "He wants to mark you Ottilie, he wants all of you, all to himself."
