Lies Unraveled

Elizabeth's P.O.V. I storm out of Warrick's prison cell as I slam the door behind me, before walking down the hallway towards mine and Carter's room. Why did I not know that Warrick could talk to The Moon Goddess directly? We have never heard about that. Is he lying about it to try and make me question everything? Even though we've stayed hidden throughout the years from the supernatural community, the witches and warlocks in this pack are able to easily spy and get us information. We would've heard if he was able to talk to Selene directly. He has to be lying, because there's no way that this has been kept a secret all of these years. I walk into my room, only to see Carter lying on his bed as he plays with his phone. I roll my eyes at him, wishing that he was still in the living room playing video games so that I could have a moment of peace and quiet to think about things. "What's got your panties in a wad?" he says to me as he sits up on his bed. I walk over to my bed and flop down, before looking over at him with furrowed brows, "Nothing." "If it's nothing, then why have you been crying?" he asks, as he stands up from his bed and walks over to me, before sitting down next to me and gently placing his hand on my stomach. I let out a defeated sigh, "I asked Warrick why The Moon Goddess created his mother in the first place. Why she would create such an abomination, knowing that Athena was going to kill off so many of Selene's children later on in her life. He said that I could ask The Moon Goddess myself if I wanted to know the answer to that. I told him that it was impossible to ask her that, seeing as none of us could talk to The Moon Goddess directly. Then, he surprises me by telling me that he has had a direct link to The Moon Goddess since the day that he was born. He even told me that The Moon Goddess can use him as a host to talk directly to me directly through him." Carter's eyes widen in disbelief, before he lets out a small chuckle, "And you believe him?" "Why would he lie about that, Carter? It's not like we wouldn't find out that he was lying, if he was. He even told me that when she uses him as a host, his voice is able to change to hers. There's no possible way that he would be that good of an actor, to be able to change his voice, too." I tell him as I look down at his hand, before softly playing with his fingers. Carter lets out a defeated sigh as he stares at me, "Are you having second thoughts, Lizzie? Are you not planning on rejecting him?" I look up at Carter with furrowed brows, "What?! No! Of course, I'm not having second thoughts! I just don't know how to do it! Plus, he said that he wasn't going to accept my rejection, even if I figured it out. In the mean time, I just figured I would be able to get more information out of him if our mate-bond was still intact." Carter smiles at me, before he leans down and softly brushes his lips against mine, "Good, because you promised that I would be your chosen mate. I know that we found out I wasn't your mate on your birthday three weeks ago, but that didn't matter to me. I've loved you since the day that I met you, even if I was just a kid at the time." he whispers against my lips, before hungrily pressing them against mine. I feel an ache in my heart at the sudden intimate contact. I've loved Carter since we were kids as well, but that's changed since I found out Warrick was my mate. Carter and I are both stubborn as can be and can fight for days, but that's why we've always been so attracted towards one another, because the two of us have such strong and rebellious personalities. When we're angry at one another, it's always bad, really bad, but when we're happy, it's always REALLY good. However, the intimacy I once felt towards Carter is no longer there, and guilt consumes me every time I think about the fact that I lost my virginity to him, rather than waiting. I quickly pull away from him as the ache in my chest grows more painful, making him look at me with irritation. "Lizzie, what's going on? You haven't let me touch you since he showed up." he asks me, spitting with disgust when he mentions Warrick. I'm about to answer him, but as soon as I open my mouth to reply, a loud and ferocious roar echoes throughout the entire apartment. The walls shake around us, making a few pictures fall off of the walls. I look up at Carter with wide eyes, only to see him looking back at me with the same expression. Carter and I quickly get off of the bed and open the door to leave our room, only to see Zeke holding his fist up like he was about to knock on the door. "Sorry, Lizzie, Carter. I was just about to see if you guys wanted to come with me to see what is going on with Warrick?" he asks, before a smirk covers his face, "Maybe he's finally starting to lose a little bit of his sanity and starting to get angry." I furrow my brows at him and shake my head, "He was fine a couple of seconds ago. Come on." All three of us quickly walk down the hallway and into the rancid smelling room, only to see that Warrick has thrown his bed across his cell and it's lying upside down now. He's grabbing at his right hand as he winces at it in pain, before he looks up at me. I stare at him with wide eyes, suddenly terrified of what I'm seeing in front of me. "Why...why are your eyes that...that color?" I stutter out, as I begin to tremble in fear. His eyes are actually not just one color, but all kinds of different colors. Violet, red, blue, green, and golden. Every single one of the colors twinkle around his iris' like some sort of kaleidoscope. I've never seen anything like it. None of us even knew that his eyes changed to different colors, rather than the one blue and one green that he usually has. Warrick stares at me for a few seconds, before his jaw clenches as he slowly turns his attention to Carter. "MINE!" he roars out at Carter, before he violently clenches his fists around the silver bars while glaring at just him. The skin of his palms sizzle as the silver burns into them, but he doesn't seem to care as he continues to glare daggers at Carter. I look up at Carter, who is glaring right back at Warrick and seething in anger. I place my palm on Carter's shoulder to get his attention, but my action only earns a threatening growl from Warrick. I quickly take my hand away and look back at Warrick, before walking over to him and placing my hands on his hands as they continue to burn against the silver bars. Warrick looks down at me angrily for a few seconds, before his gaze softens. I unclench his fingers from around the bars and push them away, while trying to ignore the smell of burning flesh and focus on the scent of coffee instead. Warrick pulls his hands away and takes a couple of steps back, before looking back at Carter with an angry glare, "I, Direct Child of The Moon Goddess, First Tribrid Heir, and Future Alpha Warrick Anderson of River Crescent, forbid you from touching my mate ever again!" he smoothly roars out in an aura that I've never heard before. The aura is completely terrifying, to say the least, but for some reason, it sounds soothing to my ears. Warrick stares at Carter for a few seconds longer, before he looks down at me again. He takes a slow and steadying breath, before closing his eyes and breathing heavily. After a few moments, he opens his eyes again to reveal their normal blue and green colors. "Why did your eyes change colors like that, Warrick?" I ask him as I stare at his eyes, like they'll change back at any moment. "I'll tell you, if he leaves the room." he says to me as he shifts his gaze back to Carter. I turn to look at Carter, only to see that he's still glaring angrily at Warrick with his arms crossed. His jaw is ticking from it being clenched so tight, and his body is completely rigid. Zeke is standing beside Carter, just staring at Warrick in amazement. Zeke doesn't look angry at all. If anything, he's looking at Warrick like he's the eighth wonder of the world. "Carter, please leave." I tell him. Carter looks back at me in surprise, "You can't be serious, Lizzie?!" A growl vibrates through Warrick's chest from behind me, but I continue to stare at Carter, "Please?" Carter scoffs at me, before angrily turning around and stomping out of the room. He slams the door behind him and I just stare at it as I let out a soft sigh, before turning back to Warrick. "Can he..." I begin to ask him. "He can stay." Warrick interrupts me, answering my question. I furrow my brows at him, "How did you know I was going to ask you that?" "Like I told you, I have a direct link to The Moon Goddess. She visited me a few minutes ago while I was lying in bed. Right now, she's talking to me, though, just like our wolves do." he explains to me as he walks over to his bed, before flipping it over. Zeke walks up beside me and watches Warrick as he pushes his bed back into the corner, "Why do you trust me to hear what you have to say, though?" Warrick turns around and looks at the two of us as he chuckles, "Oh, I don't trust either of you. I trust no one in your pack actually, if you could even call it a pack." I growl lowly at him, "We ARE a pack. We might not be recognized by the council since we've been in hiding, but we are definitely a pack." Warrick keeps chuckling at me as he continues to finish pushing his bed to the corner of the room, before looking down at his burned hands, "Don't ever let him touch you again, Elizabeth." he calmly says. I scoff at him, "Who? Carter? He's going to be my chosen mate as soon as I reject you, for your information. You have no right to tell me who I can or cannot touch. Thank you, by the way, for commanding him not to touch me anymore. By doing that, you let me know exactly how I'm supposed to reject you. So, thanks for that!" Warrick looks up at me with a wide grin, before he slowly walks up to me, "And like I told you earlier today, Elizabeth, I will never accept your rejection. Besides, he will never be able to go against my command anyway. So, good luck with having him as your chosen mate." I growl in irritation at him, which makes Zeke softly put his hand on my shoulder to try and calm me down, before he looks back at Warrick, "You two can bicker back and forth all you want later. We need to address the matter at hand right now, though. Now, tell us, why were your eyes doing what they did just a moment ago? I've never seen anything like that." Warrick smiles at him as he crosses his arms over his chest, "Like I said, The Moon Goddess visited me a few minutes ago. She gave me some information that enraged me. What you saw were all of my counterparts trying to take over at once." he calmly says, before clenching his jaw and looking back at me, "However, I'm starting to think that maybe they were also angry about something else?" Zeke drops his hand from my shoulder, before crossing his arms over his chest as well, "Your counterparts?" Warrick glares at me for a few seconds longer, while I try to swallow down the guilt that seems to be stuck in my throat, before he lets out a small and angry chuckle as he raises a hand and scratches the back of his neck, "You know, for people who apparently have so much information on my pack and my parents, you sure know nothing about us." "What are you talking about, Warrick? We do know everything there is to know about your pack and your parents." I say to him. Warrick looks up at me with devious eyes, "That's where you're wrong, my infuriating little mate. If you did, you wouldn't have all of these questions." he says to me, before dropping his hands to his sides and shoving them into his pockets, "My counterparts are all of the different supernatural sides of me. You two are werewolves, so your wolf is your counterpart to your human side. I have three though, since I'm a tribrid. Red eyes for my vampire, violet eyes for my warlock, and blue and green eyes for my wolf. All of those colors will flash in my eyes when they're all trying to take control. Surprisingly, they were somehow able to try and take control, even with this fortified prison you have me in. I've only been able to talk with them until today, since they've been subdued by the silver, wolfsbane, vervain, and magical barrier you have in place. However, after what Selene told me, it had all of us so enraged that they were all able to almost overpower it." he says, before his face falls with disappointment, "Or I simply could've been enraged because I felt that piece of scum's hands on you through the mate-bond." I take a step away from him as pain shoots through my chest again and the guilt becomes thicker in my throat, "How come you didn't break out of the cell then, if they were able to overpower it?" Warrick gives me a forced smile, "Like I told you earlier, I'm meant to be here, so I didn't care to try and break out. Now, all matters aside, do you want to talk to The Moon Goddess or not?" he asks as he lets out a small sigh. I slowly nod my head at him. Warrick closes his eyes for a few moments, before opening them again. His eyes are glowing white, like two bright stars. My breath hitches in my throat at the sight in front of me. I feel Zeke tense up beside me, before he slowly looks over at me with wide eyes. "Hello, my child." Warrick says softly, but in a different voice than his own, a very soft and melodic female voice. I slowly step up to the cell bars as I stare into Warrick's bright white eyes, "Hello." Warrick's lips pull into a soft smile, before his gaze slowly turns to Zeke, "My other child." "H-hello." Zeke stutters out as he stares at Warrick. Warrick looks back at me and gently clasps his hands in front of him, "I've been watching you, Elizabeth. I understand the pain that you've been through, throughout your life. It's hard losing a mother at such a young age, and it's even harder for a pup to grow up without a father. I want to let you know though, that you have such a beautiful life ahead of you with your mate, in his pack at River Crescent. In fact, all of your friends have a beautiful life ahead of them at River Crescent, as well, if they choose to trust in Warrick and follow him. However, the anger that you have towards his parents, you'll have to put behind you to be able to move forward. I created Athena to fulfill a certain destiny, which she did, long ago. Athena did not do what she did for power or greed, no matter what your parents told you. In fact, Athena hates killing people. She was actually in a coma for five months after the supernatural war, because all of their deaths had such a large impact on her body. You see, Athena feels the death of others, especially those who die at her own hands. She even lived in my realm during her coma, so she wouldn't be tortured while feeling the deaths of all of those killed during the war." Tears brim my eyes as anger bubbles inside of me, "So why MY parents?! ALL OF OUR PARENTS?! Why did ATHENA get to live in your realm to avoid being tortured, while all of our fathers were killed off? While all of our mothers lost their wolves or their magic?" "Your parents had a choice, my child, just like all of my children do. They can choose to be good or choose to be evil. The supernatural world was on the brink of extinction, because they were all fighting amongst themselves. The stories all of your mothers told you were lies. There's another side to the story." she explains to me. I scoff at Selene as she talks through Warrick, "My mother wouldn't lie to me. She said she never did anything to Athena. In fact, she told me she was best friends with Callan and Callan's sister, Ashley, growing up. Why would she be killed, then?" Warrick shrugs his shoulders as he smiles softly at me, "Why don't you ask her yourself? She's here with me, if you want to speak with her." A lump forms in my throat as my eyes widen, "Wh...what did you just say?" The light in Warrick's eyes flicker for only a second, before tears start to fall from his eyes and he reaches his hand towards me, "Lizzie?! Oh, my sweet little Lizzie, how I've missed you!" he says to me in a voice I know all too well. Tears pour down my face at hearing my mother's voice, "MOM?!" I choke out. Warrick nods his head softly at me as his hand reaches up and caresses my cheek, "Lizzie, you have to listen to Warrick, my darling. Trust in your mate and give in to the mate-bond. I should've given in to the mate-bond when I found your father. If I did, both your father and I would still be with you." "Wha-what are you...what are you you talking about?" I choke out as I furrow my brows and shake my head in confusion. Tears stream down Warrick's face some more as his face morphs into a look of guilt, "Lizzie, I'm so sorry I lied to you. I was such a horrible person when I was alive. I was power hungry and only thought of myself. Athena did nothing wrong. All she ever did was love Callan and I couldn't stand it. I was so enraged with anger and jealousy. I rejected your father not long after we met because I just wanted to be with Callan for his alpha status. Your father took the rejection extremely hard and turned his back on his pack, then started plotting with their enemies to kill Callan since he was the reason I rejected your father. I plotted to kill Athena, so I could have Callan for myself. There were a lot of things that went on at River Crescent before I decided to break your father out of their dungeons. Both of us still decided to go up against Athena and Callan in the supernatural war, because we couldn't get over our stupid egos. Your father and I mated not long after I broke him out of their dungeons, which is how I became pregnant with you. Your father made me stay home the day of the war though, since I found out I was pregnant with you that morning. Your father was killed during it, and my wolf was stripped from me as punishment for being so malicious. Even after that, I still tried to find ways to get my revenge on the two of them. So I told lies to you to make you hate them as well, while also seeking out others just like me. We were planning on building another army to go against them. Little did we know, we would die as well if we kept going down the path we were going down, as soon as our children gained their wolves and magic to be able to take care of themselves without us." Pain shoots through my chest at hearing this, "Why would you lie to me, mom? Why couldn't you just be happy with me? Wasn't I enough?" "Oh, my darling Lizzie. You were more than enough. I was just too stupid to see beyond my bruised ego. I blamed Athena and Callan for everything that went wrong in my life. Just like The Moon Goddess said though, all of her children are allowed to make their own choices. The only person to blame for everything that happened to me was myself, not Callan or Athena. I made the wrong choices throughout life and it cost me everything." she says as Warrick's hand gently strokes my cheek, "Love your mate and trust in him, my sweet Lizzie. I should've done that with your father when I first met him. Listen to him and listen to Selene. They will answer any questions that you have in the future. I have to go now, my little pup. Always know though, that I should've done better for you, and that I love you with everything in me and I'm always watching over you." she says as Warrick smiles at me with love and tears slide down his cheeks. "I love you too, mom." I whisper to her, before I see the bright white taking over Warrick's eyes fade out and turn to his normal blue and green. Warrick stumbles away from me and bends over, before leaning on his knees as he gasps for breath. Tears trail down my face as I watch Warrick, before I feel Zeke's arm slowly snake around my shoulders and pull me into his side. I watch Warrick finally stand up straight and rub his hands on his face to wipe the tears my mom had caused away, before he looks at me with a pained expression. "Your mother was Victoria? You're Marco Rosetti's daughter?" he asks, before I see his adam's apple bobble as he swallows hard.
