Warrick's P.O.V.
I lay on my bed on my back, with my arms crossed behind my head, as I stare at the ceiling. I left my food that they brought me earlier, untouched on the ground. I'd probably end up throwing up if I tried to choke down that bland oatmeal again. The scent of my mate faded only minutes after she left and was quickly replaced with the rancid smell that's always in here. To top it off, the bucket they have provided for me as a bathroom doesn't make the smell of this room any better. I close my eyes and try to focus on the lingering feelings of the mate-bond zapping through my body. Being able to touch her earlier, even if it was only for a couple of seconds, set a new fire to my soul. I have to think of a way to get them all to understand and see things in a different perspective, than what their parents put into their heads. There's no way they'll be able to kill my mom and dad. The only thing that'll happen is that this pack will face the same fate that their parents did.
A snort escapes me as I laugh inwardly at the fact that a bunch of teenagers are planning to take on the two most powerful creatures in the supernatural world. Sure, they might have me confined for right now, but my parents will eventually find me. That's mainly the reason I'm so calm about everything, because I know that I'll be located sooner or later. The other reason I'm so calm is because I know that none of them are planning on killing me. If they were, I'd be dead by now. The only problem is that I'm stuck and having to deal with listening to Tucker whimper in my head, while I'm surrounded by nothing but complete silence.
My beautiful mate is an angry little thing. Who can blame her, though, with the cards that she was dealt in life. Her father was killed in the war, before she was even born. Her mother was wolfless her entire life, and turned to dust right in front of her on Elizabeth's thirteenth birthday. Her mother losing her mate and being wolfless, also means that her mother probably dealt with serious depression and anger issues. It makes me wonder who her mother was and why she was such an evil person. She had to have been an evil person if her wolf was stripped from her when my mom emitted that magical wave of fire, then died later in her life as a result of it.
I didn't even know that there were survivors after that wave of fire. I'm sure my parents didn't know, either, since they never talked about it. I'm sure if my mom knew that there were survivors, she would've tried to help them redeem themselves, before they met their fate. My mom is like that, always trying to give people second chances, even if they don't deserve it. The supernatural world has been so peaceful since the war. Then, out of nowhere, a pack of rogue orphaned teenagers appear, seeking revenge. It makes no sense that no one knew about them. They have to be smart to stay hidden for so long. Well, obviously they're smart, since they constructed this fortified prison that I'm in. It makes me wonder who the mastermind is behind all of this, since everything is so flawless. My mate said in her attempted rejection that she was Alpha Elizabeth Rosetti. Alpha, which means that she's probably the brains of this operation.
I open my eyes wide at another realization, "Wait. Rosetti?" I whisper out as I quickly sit up in bed, "Why does that name sound so familiar?"
Before I can even think about it further, a faint scent of caramel hits my nostrils. I smirk as I cross my arms over my chest and walk slowly towards the cell bars, before stopping only inches from them while I stare at the door waiting for her. A few seconds later, the metal door slowly opens and Elizabeth hesitantly walks in. She stops in the doorframe and stares at me, before shutting it behind her and crossing her arms over her chest, as well.
"Here to attempt your rejection again?" I say to her in a mocking tone, knowing that she'll never get it right in a million years.
Elizabeth squints her eyes in annoyance at me, before she slowly walks towards me and stops in front of me, "Nope."
My eyes widen in surprise, before I quickly school my features and smirk at her again, "Then I'm just going to take a wild guess and assume that the reason you're gracing me with your presence is because you couldn't stand to be away from me any longer."
"That's not it either, Warrick. Stop playing games. I'm here to interrogate you." she says with no emotions in her voice, whatsoever.
I snort at her, before rolling my eyes and turning around to walk away from her, "Go ahead and try, then. I'm not giving you information about my pack, just so you can use it against them. If your questions concern the supernatural war that happened a long time ago, then I'll gladly answer those to the best of my knowledge." I say, before flopping down on the bed again.
"I want to know why The Moon Goddess created your mother in the first place? Why she would create such a vile creature to kill off so many of her children? Your mother is nothing but an abomination. A mistake that was accidentally made. Why did The Moon Goddess allow her to live, so that she could do the things that she did?" Elizabeth spits out at me with disgust.
A small growl escapes my lips at hearing how she talks about my mother, before I quickly sit up and smirk deviously at her, "Do you have a problem with The Moon Goddess? Do you think that The Moon Goddess is an abomination or a mistake?"
"That wasn't what I was saying, Warrick, and you know it." she says as she shuffles uncomfortably on her feet.
I chuckle lowly at her, "Sounds like it to me. You calling my mother an abomination and a mistake, means that you're pretty much calling The Moon Goddess that, as well, seeing as my mother was purposely made by her for a reason."
"I just want to know WHY she created your mother?" she says with an irritated growl.
I stand up and walk towards her, "Maybe you should ask her that yourself, then."
She lets out a defeated sigh as she chews on the inside of her cheek, "That's impossible and you know it. The Moon Goddess doesn't talk to any of us directly."
I purse my lips at what she says as I scratch the back of my neck, before dropping my hands to my sides and shoving them into my pockets, "That's where you're wrong, Elizabeth. I have a direct link to The Moon Goddess and can speak with her anytime that I want. In fact, she can use me as a host to talk through me, to you." I say, before I wink at her.
Elizabeth's eyes widen as her hands drop to her sides, before she slowly takes a couple of steps away from me, "Wha...what are...what are you talking about?" she stutters out.
"I've been able to talk to The Moon Goddess since the day I was born. My mother has been able to speak with her in visions, as well as my father. However, I'm the only one with a direct link that can do it anytime that I want. My mother and father have to wait for her to appear to them in visions. If you have questions for The Moon Goddess, then you can ask her them, through me." I explain to her, before giving her a soft smile.
She frantically shakes her head at me as tears form in her eyes, "You're lying! That's impossible!"
"No, it's not. Even my voice changes to hers when she's using me as a host." I say to her as I watch her take a couple of more steps away from me.
Tears escape her eyes and run down her cheeks, "If you have a direct link to The Moon Goddess, then why hasn't she helped you find a way to get out of here! Surely she doesn't want her favorite child to be locked up in some dirty, smelly prison! You're LYING!"
I shrug my shoulders at her, "It simply means that I'm meant to be here, for some reason."
"THAT'S WHY YOU'VE BEEN SO CALM?! BECAUSE YOU THINK YOU'RE MEANT TO BE HERE?!" she yells out hysterically.
I shake my head at her as I let out a small chuckle, "No, that's not why I've been so calm. I'm calm, because I know that no one in your pack can kill me. I'm pretty much immortal. I'm not worried about escaping, because sooner or later my family WILL find me. If you think that they won't, then you're wrong, because they will. I'm just patiently waiting here throughout the day, hoping to get to spend more time with you. The silence drives me a little crazy though, because all I hear is Tucker whimpering in my head knowing that our mate wants to reject us. However, I reassure myself that The Moon Goddess has a reason for me being here, and I have to trust the fate that she has in store for me."
Elizabeth stares at me with wide eyes, before quickly turning around and angrily walking out of the room. I stare at the door as it slams behind her, before letting out a defeated sigh and walking back over to my bed. I lay down on it and close my eyes again, deciding to try and take a nap. However, Tucker is going crazy in my head because I upset Elizabeth, for whatever reason. I figured if she knew that I had a direct link to The Moon Goddess, she would happy to get whatever answers she is searching for.
"She's not angry at you, my child." Selene's melodic voice sounds in my head.
I let out a sigh of relief at hearing her voice, "I'm assuming that you DO have a reason for me being here, right?"
"Yes, I do. They are all very lost and need to understand what actually happened. You are the person that is going to show that to them." she says to me softly.
"How exactly am I supposed to do that?" I ask her.
"You'll find a way, Warrick. Just like your mother, you were created to bring peace to this world." she says to me softly as a bright aura starts to glow behind my eyelids, before I see Selene appear and walk over to Tucker, "Tucker, you need to trust in Warrick and give your mate some time to come around. She's had a hard life and doesn't trust anyone outside of her pack." she says to him as she leans down and pets him softly.
"Who were her parents? Why were they killed in the war?" I ask her as I watch her stroke Tucker's fur.
Selene looks up at me, "You'll have to find out from your mate who her parents were, it'll help the two of you bond to find it out from her instead of me. Once you find out, you'll start to understand why she has such an issue with Athena and Callan. As for why they were killed in the war, it's because there was no stopping her parents. Their hatred towards your parents was never going to go away. All of my children are allowed to make their own decisions, and her parents' decisions and hatred is what cost them their lives."
"Can you visit my mom and let her know that I'm okay? Can you let her know that I'm fulfilling my destiny? Let her know that I don't know how long I will be gone, but to call off the warriors in their search for me? I don't need them attacking this pack if they find out where I am. I need time to gain this pack's trust. All of these teenagers deserve a future. They deserve a better life than the ones that their parents created for them." I ask her as I watch her stand up again after calming Tucker down.
Selene nods her head at me and smiles, "I will visit your mother as soon as I'm done talking to you. You will have plenty of time to gain their trust, Warrick. Be aware, though, that my children are still allowed to make their own choices. Not everyone here is going to choose to forgive your parents. You will have enemies who will try to take your life along the way, just to get back at your parents."
"Thank you, Selene. I'll do my best to prevent that from happening. Just know that I tried, if it comes down to some of them trying to kill me." I tell her as I watch her walk towards the glowing aura again, before turning around.
"Warrick, you also need to know that your mate will soon be in danger, as well. Your enemies will try to use her as your weakness. She trusts the members of her pack, so she will never see it coming. However, I just thought you should know that she will be tortured in front of you while you're stuck in this cell, until she faces death. You will have to find a way to save her, even if it means losing a part of yourself." she says to me with sorrow in her voice, before she disappears.
A pain shoots through my chest as a wave of anger so strong engulfs me as soon as the words leave The Moon Goddess' mouth, before an uncontrollable and ferocious roar vibrates through my entire body and echoes against the walls around me. I stand up and throw my bed across the room, before violently punching the wall, which makes the bones in my hand c***k at the impact. I wince as I grab onto my hand, as I suddenly remember the barrier spell that surrounds my cell. I angrily walk around the cell as I think about the fact that someone within this pack is going to try and kill my mate, before I see two pack members, along with Elizabeth, run into the room to see what's going on.
Elizabeth stares at me with wide eyes, "Why...why are your eyes that...that color?" she stutters out as she trembles with fear.
