The Lunar Alpha

Chapter 10

Derek's POV

I sat there still in shock. Does this also mean I would get super powers? It's kinda cool but I am a little scared though.

"H-how do you all know I'm the one?" I asked, looking at Mom and Aunt Betty.

"Legend says that the strongest Lunar Wolf will have mismatched eyes. Blue and Brown to be exact." Mom's voice was almost a whisper.

That explains my unique eye colour. And also explains why all Alphas bowed the moment they saw my face. Probably they saw my eye colour and they just knew I was the strongest Lunar Wolf.

Also, this is my chance. To make dad proud. To obey the Moon Goddess's will and help our race. And with that thought I raised my head and looked at dad.

"What do I need to do?" I asked him, making him smile and hug me.

"You took this well a lot better than I thought" He said, patting my back.

"I'm your son!. I did what you would do if you were in this situation" I said and next moment I felt his arms a little tighter around me.

"Thank you" was all he said before heading to his office.

That's his way to cope up with emotions. Ever since he became the King of Alphas, he stopped showing his emotions to everyone. He thinks he needs to portray himself as mentally strong but it's doing him no good. Whenever something emotional happens, he just runs to his office and buries himself with tonnes of work.

"Go to sleep. We will talk about it tomorrow" Mom smiled and hugged me.

"You are our pride" she whispered before pulling away.

I gave her a genuine smile while walking to my room. My mom is way cooler than I ever thought she could be.

I went to my room and changed into comfortable clothes. The moment I unlocked my phone I had 3 messages and 2 missed calls from Lana.

Lana : Are you still busy with family things?

Lana : Ok! Hope you are having fun but I can't wait to see you again on Monday.

Lana : Good night.

I smiled and sent a text back stating I'll be there at school on Monday and wishing her Good Night.

I plopped on my bed and released a long sigh. Such a huge evening it was. And I am so proud of my parents right now. I can't ask Moon Goddess for anything more.

My Dad is the Alpha King while my mom is a Lunar Wolf with Water element. Damn!! They are so cool and I can't stop admiring them. It's my blessing that the Moon Goddess chose me as the Lunar Wolf and child to Alpha King and another Lunar Wolf.

With a smile on my face I fell into a deep slumber.

I woke up to Abigail squealing right at my ear drums and holy s**t she is too loud!

"What the f**k!!!" I sprang

"Curse words while dad's here!!!! Daddaaaa -" I shut her mouth with my palm making her bite my hand.

"Owww" I removed it in an instant.

"You owe me" she smirked.

That's when I knew...she had something already planned and it's gonna be something I don't like. But I was patient to hear it from her. Right now, at this moment..I really don't want dad to question me if I'm the right one to be chosen as Lunar Wolf. Instead I wanna be his pride.

"I'm going on a date with Isaac tomorrow and you are helping me" She said looking at her freshly painted nails.

"Date??? What are you? 20??" I raised my eyebrows.

"And who are you to object? Dad?" She mocked me.

"I don’t have to be dad to tell you this,” I pause and look at her,” No!!! You aren't going on a date with that human" I said.

"Why Derek?" She started whining already.

"You have a mate out there Abigail!!! Just wait for him patiently will ya?" I held her shoulders.

"It's just a date you dimwit. I just want to experience how this human dating thing works. Please.. please.! Pretty please" she pouted and I just couldn't say no.

"Ok fine! But you will be back before the school ends. Or else you know what happens to that human" I said with my index finger up in the air as a warning gesture.

"Thank You Derek!!!! You are the best brother" she jumped on me making both of us fall on bed with a thud.

I laughed ruffling her hair while she just slapped my hand away and walked out of the room. That little brat!

I quickly brushed my teeth and took a shower with the thoughts of Lunar Wolf running through my mind. I really hope I get to know what I am supposed to do so that I can make dad proud. Being a Lunar Wolf isn't my pride. Being dad's son is my pride.

By the time I walked to the living room everyone was laughing at something Uncle Aaron was saying. I love him! He is such an energy everywhere he goes. People can't help but love him for that.

"What's so funny?" I asked, sitting on the couch beside mom.

"Just something that happened in our pack." Uncle Aaron shrugged.

"We'll leave now. A pack is an easy target without it's Alpha and Beta" Uncle Nick said looking at Mom.

Mom nodded and hugged him. They have such affection for each other that I find dad being all jealous about it.For some reason, to me it feels like the reason for his jealousy is something beyond. But I don't want to question him. He will tell me if that's something I should know.

Abigail bid Rose a tear filled Goodbye. I really wonder if they are mates though. And I would be glad if it's Rose. But Abigail having interest in this Isaac guy shows that she is straight so .. I am not sure now.

My phone buzzed indicating a text.

Lana : Missing you.

Derek : Me too.

I smiled after sending the text. I really really miss her. She has become my best friend in such a short time. She is close to Kevin and Kian as well but we both hang out mostly at school. Kevin and Kian are always seen around girls and sometimes checking on Abigail.

"So... How's everything going?" Dad's voice brought me back.

He was just coming out of his room. His hair is damp and he is in his casual clothing. This threw all of us in confusion.

"Since the Alpha Party ended. I decided we could have some family time. Have breakfast and get ready ,you all." He said making Mom squeal this time.

"Finally Alpha King Jaxon Malloy decided to act like normal Jaxon" she exaggerated dramatically.

"Where are we going?" Abigail asked.

"Vacation. Hawaii. For a week" he smiled and Abigail screamed her lungs out.

"School?" I asked him.

"That's ok. I made arrangements and talked with your principal already" Dad said while nodding.

That was all we needed. Abigail and I jumped and hugged dad. We really need this family vacation after all the twists I got a day ago. I can use this time to sort out how and what I'm gonna be.

And in 2 years.. Things will change more and more. I hope it'll be a good change.

Also, a part of me was happy that Abigail won’t be here tomorrow to go on a date with that human boy.
