Chapter Fourteen : I Know His Little Secret

1169 Words
"Come on, Brownie. Come to the carnival with Ian and me," I begged as I tugged at Clark's strong arms. He ignored me like always as he quietly texted on his phone. I tried to peek as to who he was busily chatting with, but he shot me a sharp look, his cold, hard eyes shooting daggers at me. "Yeah, George is right. You should tag along with us," Ian said, but Clark ignored him too. Typical. I playfully twirled my hair with my fingers and sat on Clark's lap to annoy him. I thought he would push or shove me away but to my astonishment, he wrapped his arms around my waist. I instantly regretted sitting on his lap and gulped. I could feel his hot breath on my throat as I chose to suppress the weird, tingling sensations. I looked over at Ian who was texting now too. Great! f*****g fantastic! Now both were ignoring me! "George, Clark, I have to go," Ian announced as he got up. "I got some work." Ian left as Clark continued with his texting. I yawned when suddenly I noticed I had a spare, pink rubber band dangling to my wrist. I silently slipped it into Clark's hair and gently tied it. He didn't seem to notice as I muffled my laughter. I ran my finger over his smooth, chiseled face and he frowned. He suddenly shut his phone and before I could process what was going on, he pinned me on the couch and hovered above me. "Brownie, w-what are you---" "Shut up," he intervened and hushed me as he buried his face in the crook of my neck. I was stunned when he whispered, "You're driving me crazy Georgia." I blinked as I stared at his body above me. The way he whispered sent this oh so not familiar tingling sensations throughout my body. It didn't feel real and I squirmed beneath him. Suddenly, I felt his soft lips against my neck and I froze. I didn't realize that I was panting. At that very moment, his phone started to buzz and he swiftly got up. I awkwardly sat up and looked away from Clark. It was a relief that the phone rang but I felt a tinge of disappointment too. I buried my feelings deep inside and tried to crack my usual grin. * * * I was still in Clark's house as Clark had to leave to meet someone important. He was in such a hurry that he didn't even notice his pony tail that I had playfully tied earlier. I didn't try to tell him that though, so I knew I had to run home before he came back. However, I was snooping around Clark's stuff in an attempt to know more about him. I knew he was someone else, the day I discovered those glasses he was wearing was fake. I rummaged through his drawers and thought, how on earth Clark trusted me with his stuff. I was alone at their house though Greta was supposed to come here any time. I yanked open a drawer near the book shelf and saw a stack of papers. I quickly went through the papers and I had to admit that I barely understood what was written. It was not in foreign language or something but these papers meant business. My eyes widened when I saw big, really big figures printed on the paper. Clark was surely no ordinary man, for he possessed an immense amount of wealth. Suddenly, someone barged into the house and I whirled around. "You, Georgia, your death has arrived," he whispered coldly which sent shivers down my spine. "I-I was going to tell you about---" "Then why didn't you?" he questioned as he threw the pink rubber band on the floor. I quietly tried to close the drawer with my butt, but it made a creaking sound. "What were you doing?" His eyes turned dark as they flickered from me to the half-opened drawer. He took four long strides and he was right in front of me. "I-I was doing nothing. Just cleaning and stuff," I lied and he clicked his tongue. "You and cleaning? You want me to believe that crap?" "Yeah, if you can . . . " "Shut up!" he snapped harshly and I bit my bottom lip. He was too intimidating and I was a teeny bit scared. I had seen him breaking bottles and electronic gadgets, but his voice just made everything turn into a horror movie. He was roaring, "You know that I was out on an important meeting with a pinky s**t tied to my hair!" "You didn't tell me you were on a meeting!" I defended myself foolishly. "You were wearing jeans and a freaking mango t-shirt!" He scoffed and stated, "There's no mango here, it's a pineapple." "It's just a yellow blob!" "That's not the point here. What is-you touched my papers?" he asked in disbelief and I shook my head frantically. He shoved me away and yanked the drawer open. The papers spilled out and Clark suddenly turned to me, he was livid. "I know your little secret, Brownie," I said in a shaky voice and suddenly, he pressed his body against mine. I squirmed uncomfortably as I was trapped by the book shelf behind me and him in front of me. He caught my elbow and said in a dangerously, low voice, "What do you know?" "I-I . . . " "What do you know?" he asked again and I smacked myself mentally for stuttering. "That you secretly have a fetish for pineapples!" I blurted out and he rolled his eyes. "Not funny, Georgia. I'm asking for the very last time. What do you know?" he reiterated, putting much emphasis on the question. "I know that you're a billionaire!" I bluffed since I knew he was rich, but not billionaire rich. What was wrong in giving a shot? "How did you know?" he asked in a low voice and my jaw dropped open. For god's sake, my Brownie was a billionaire! "Are you really?" I gasped when I could see a flash of regret in his eyes. "How? Why? I mean why are you-is this some sort of disguise? Why?" "None of your business," he mumbled and I scowled. "Of course it is! You're are rich freak!" "Are you going to tell anybody?" he asked and I tapped my chin thoughtfully. "Wait . . . I will tell. I mean why not?" "You wouldn't." "I wouldn't if you---" "How much money?" "What?" "You heard it," he said flatly and I frowned. I didn't want money. I mean I wanted money, but I wanted to earn it, not blackmail someone into giving me. "What, no! That's ridiculous! I wouldn't tell anybody if you agree to come to the carnival." His gaze on me didn't falter and finally, he let out a breath. "It would have been better if you had settled for money."
