The following morning he awoke with a small amount of pain in his leg. Not nearly as bad as he had expected, but bad enough. Unwrapping the leg, he saw a lot of seepage, but still he knew it could have been a lot worse. He heated more water and rebated it. More peroxide, dried everything off, then more iodine. While fixing breakfast, he thought how lucky he had been that the dog had alerted him of the cat. That was as close as he ever wanted to come to being killed by anything ever again. Thinking about it he sure was glad he hadn"t shot the dog for scaring him so badly in the cave that first morning when he came into the valley.
