Chase's POV
When I arrived home from work, something seemed off with Amy. Usually she's cheerful and greets me as soon as I enter the door. The light are all off except for the kitchen and she's curled up in a ball on the corner of the sofa.
I sit next to her, not caring that I'm dirty. I wrap my arms around her and kiss her head. I can hear small whimpers and it's breaking me heart to see her like this. I know she will tell me when she's ready, so for now I will just comfort her.
"Go shower, you stink." I laugh when I hear her quiet voice.
"Fine, but you better be ready for cuddles when I come back." I heard a small chuckle and then headed to the bathroom.
When I finished up, I was surprised to see that Amy was not on the sofa. She was in the kitchen with what smells like coffee in her hands. I grabbed a cup and joined her at the table.
"What happened to cuddles?" I ask teasingly.
She smiled, but then quickly turned serious as she said, "I need to tell you something that happened today at work."
I was all ears and nodded my head to indicate her to proceed. She told me about her new student, Dean, and his bad behavior. All of her students love her, so this was surprising to hear. What caught me off guard though was when she told me about the meeting with his mother.
I didn't know what to say, so I stayed quiet. This was making Amy uncomfortable, so I finally opened my mouth.
"Do you believe her?"
"Yes, Chase. Dean looks a lot like my father."
"s**t! Okay, do you have any PTO?"
"Yes, why? What are you thinking?"
"We're taking a trip to Pleasant View."
Amy's POV
Before packing, I texted Lauren, the woman who substituted for me today. I asked her if she would be available to cover my class the next few days. It didn't take long for her to reply; saying she would happily cover my class. She needs as many days as she could get. I then proceeded to email my boss to let him know I had a family emergency to deal with and that I already found coverage.
Last, but not least, I called Elizabeth. I explained everything that was happening and she asked if we would mind if she met us at Pleasant View. Any help would be appreciated, so of course I told her yes.
I finally got to packing and Chase and I left for our destination.
