Jeremy Mayah hung back by the door and seemed reluctant to enter the attic. I didn’t blame her, I wasn’t even sure I was gonna fit through that door. Harley walked over and picked the cuffs up out of the dust. The chains rattled ominously. “You mean to tell me…” She ducked to glance back at Mayah, “That the headmistress was chained in the attic… by her husband?” Mayah bobbed her head but didn’t offer any more information. “Let’s get a camera up,” Eli said, panning the flashlight around. Even he looked a little spooked. I wasn’t sure what disturbed him more: the idea of the headmistress being chained in the attic, or the fact that Mayah seemed to know about it. It was so damn obvious that he had zero faith in Mayah’s gift. I had cut him some slack so far; it had taken me a long while
