Chapter 12 I had two stops to make on the way home: the record store and the liquor store. The purpose of stopping at the record store was to buy a record player, and the purpose of stopping at the liquor store was to buy some high-end vodka. I went to the record store first, because it was in the opposite direction from my place and therefore better to just get out of the way. The place was tiny, devoted to selling extremely overpriced old vinyl, and staffed solely by a cadaverous Manhattan refugee named Price who was too unpleasant to talk to. I knew that already because I had tried, back when I first reached Hennington and was aimlessly flailing around for some sort of social life.
