Denial

CHAPTER 6: MASON "No, please leave me alone. There's nothing for us to talk about. I don't know you." She said and stayed resisted in her place. I can't believe this! She's still in denial. "Listen, don't test my patience alright? I just want to talk calmly. If you will cooperate things will go easy or else I can make things done in other ways too." I told her in a dead tone. She gulped and looked down. Why does she always look down? Can't she look at me properly for once? "Garcia," I said and touched her cheek. She flinched away from my touch and glared at me. "Stop calling me that name!" She said with fury in her beautiful hazel eyes. "Lister Mr Miller. My name is not Garcia. It's Stephanie. Stephanie Martinez as I told you before. You misunderstood me with someone else. I'm not the girl you're trying to find. Now, please leave me alone!" She yelled at me. That's it! I've listened enough. "Listen, Stephanie. If you want me to call you Stephanie I'll call you that. I just want to talk to you about some serious matter which involved both you and me. This is not some kind of joke alright? This is a serious matter. Just give me an hour and come with me. I'll let you go whenever you want. I promise." I said with authority. She looked hesitant but gave in. I made her sit in my car and told the driver to take us back to my mansion. I looked at her. She was looking out of the window. Is she trying to avoid me? For some reason, I found peace in my heart. I liked the idea of her being with me. Am I moving too fast? The fact that she's still denying to know me makes me furious. Why is she doing this? Her denial won't make everything disappear. It happened and that's the biggest reality. My mansion came in view and we entered by the main gate. I looked at her to see her reaction but she was playing with her hands. Her hands were shaky. Is she nervous? Does she not feel safe around me? But then again why will she? She doesn't know me. I need to make her feel safe so that she can open to me about that night. I went out and opened the car door for her. She looked at me with wet eyes but still didn't come out of the car. I grabbed her shaky hand and made her come out of the car. "Don't worry. I'm a respected man. I won't do anything to you. I just want to know what you know and what you think about it and I also know that you remember what I'm talking about." I told her and her eyes widened. I gently lead her inside my mansion. "Martha, get me some refreshments in my room and after that, I want no one to disturb us," I told Martha and Stephanie's eyes widened in fear. Don't tell me she's thinking something dirty. "Can't you talk somewhere around people?" She asked and I chuckled. "I will let my door open if you're scared. I know you don't trust me but soon you will. I'm not a bad guy alright." I talked to her like a child. She's too beautiful and cute. I can't resist but talk to her politely. There's nothing to deny that I'm deeply attracted to her. There's something apart from her beauty that attracts me towards her. But then again I also don't know her. I can only conclude after I got to know her. I lead her towards my room. It was the biggest room of the entire mansion. I made her sit on the couch. Martha came and served some refreshments in front of her. "Eat up. You must be hungry as lunchtime has passed." I told her. It feels nice to take care of someone. "Can we please get to the point, I also need to go back home early?" She said politely. "I'm telling you. You're wasting your time. You found the wrong person. You will get no information from me about that night." She said and I chuckled. "I never said that I want to talk about some night with you. What night are you talking about Garcia? Oops, my bad Stephanie." I smirked at her. The fish has been caught in the net. Her eyes widened and her hands started to shake. She looked like she regretted what she said just now. I went closer to her. "Listen, Stephanie. There's nothing to be afraid of alright? I know what happened that night. I have a lot to say to you but for me to open up you have to accept the fact that you and I were together that night." I told her. She immediately got up from her seat. "No, you're wrong! I don't know anything about that night. I'm telling you I'm not the person you're trying to find. Stop making it difficult for both of us and accept the fact that I don't know you." She said and I was furious listening to her. She shouldn't have said this. "Why? Why can't you accept it? Are you scared about something? I will take responsibility for you. I want to take responsibility for you. All you have to do is just tell me the truth." I grabbed her arms tightly. "Don't touch me please." She said and my eyes widened. "D-Did I force you that night? Did I take you against your wish?" I said and she just looked down. She wasn't crying, just looked a little numb. "Why aren't you saying something?! Speak to me!" I yelled at her. "I said I don't know you! Can't you accept this fact?!" She yelled back at me. She turned towards the door but I locked it before she could get out. "You said I can go whenever I want!" She looked furious but then again so was I. "Sit down. I want to show you something." I breathe out to calm myself. "No, I want-" "I told you to SIT DOWN! Didn't I?" She looked hesitant. Her eyes were roaming around the room. What is she thinking? Is she thinking of a way to escape? "Sit down Stephanie!" I glared at her and finally, she decided to sit down. "You leave me no choice. I'm going to show you something and I want you to accept everything alright." I told her and she looked confused. I made her sit down in front of the TV and put on that night's footage. Her reaction was priceless. She looked stunned and nervous. Now, what will you say, Stephanie? You have no choice now. You can't deny the fact that it was you that night. Your reaction screams that it was you. The footage ended and I stood in front of her. She looked up at me. "Are you still going to deny that you were not with me that night?" I asked her with a smirk on my face. "Yes. I will still deny it because this footage does not prove anything. That girl was wearing a mask that night. You can't just say that girl is me." She said and I was raging with anger. "Listen, I'm usually a calm guy but you're pissing me off right now. Why are you trying so hard to hide the fact that you were with me that night? That we had s*x that night?!" I yelled at her. "Shut up! Shut up, Mr Miller! You can't just accuse me of anything you assume. I'm telling you myself that I was not with you that night! Why don't you believe me and just leave me alone?!" She was yelling at me back. "Because I'm not stupid. Listen, Garcia, I'm a man who is responsible for his actions. If I have hurt you physically or mentally please just tell me. I'm ready to take any type of responsibility. I can't sleep at night because of my guilt, so, please I'm requesting you to tell me the truth. The truth that you were the girl I was with that night." I pleaded with her with my eyes. "My name is not Garcia, I've told you thousands of times. I'm also not the girl you're looking for." She said and looked down. I got up immediately and went to get the pocketbook from the side drawer. "Tell me this is not f*****g yours?" I showed her the pocketbook and her eyes widened. "This is not min-" I cut her off. "Don't you dare f*****g lie to me. Your reaction has told me everything. No need to lie." I glared at her. "You and I both know the truth. I don't know why you're in denial and why don't you want to accept the truth but to me, this means a lot alright? Maybe this is fun and games for you but not for me so I'm f*****g asking you for the last time! Is this pocketbook yours or not?" I said. "Mr Miller please," Tears were pooling from her eyes and she looked down. "I want an answer, Garcia," I said in a strict tone. "N-No, sir. It's not mine. . ." She said and I closed my eyes to calm myself. I laughed and nodded. "Alright. . . alright. You and I both know the truth. I have too many proofs to prove that you are that girl. I can easily go and match your handwriting with this pocketbook one. Will you still dare to deny Stephanie?" I grabbed her by her arms tightly and made her look into my eyes. No girl has ever frustrated me like her. "But you know what? I'm not going to do this. You don't want me to take responsibility. You're in such a strong denial that you think that night has never happened. Alright, I understand. If that's what you want. From today, I will think the same. That night never happened. You don't know me and I don't know you. This case closes here, this instant." I said and left my grip on her arms. She looked stunned. Her glossy teary eyes were watching me. There's still a chance Stephanie. Please accept it. Accept the fact that you were with me that night. I don't know what's stopping you but if you still didn't give in, things will get difficult for us. I prayed in my heart. "I'll be taking my leave now Sir! I apologize for the misunderstanding." She said and I looked away from her. This stubborn girl. But I can't do anything now. She's not ready to accept it and I can't make her. If she doesn't want anything to do with me I can't make her. I need to let her go. "Alright, I understand. If someday you'll feel like telling me the truth I'll be waiting to hear it from you. Take that pocketbook with you. I know this belongs to you. Take it and then leave." I told her. I was not going to apologize for anything as I was nothing in the wrong. She is the stubborn one. If she takes the pocketbook with her. No one in the world can deny the fact that she is Garcia. Even she won't be able to. My back was facing her and I could see her reflection in the mirror. From my observation, she must have taken this pocketbook everywhere she goes. This pocketbook is precious to her. She won't be able to resist the temptation to get it back. Pick it up Garcia and prove that you're the one. I need to see your acceptance with my own eyes for the peace of my heart. She looked at the pocketbook and then the door. My eyes widened when I saw her picking up the pocketbook. She picked it up and left the room immediately. I laughed like crazy. This girl likes to play games, doesn't she? She has started it and I will end this.
