Chapter 27: Safe Haven

2082 Words

7 hours… 16 minutes… 30 seconds… 31. 32. 33. Carter had been gone from the room. Where he was, I had absolutely no clue. I bounced my ball on the ceiling once more, the only form of entertainment I could remember since only heaven knows when. The ball rolled to the floor and I collapsed onto the bed, returning to counting the seconds. It blew my mind how could be gone for so long. There wasn't exactly a vast selection of interesting sights in the castle. My teeth clenched as the seconds grew higher. I was unsure if he was infuriated at me, or if he was frustrated with himself. The answer escaped me as I bit down on my lip. I leaned over the side of the bed and picked up the ball before whipping it at the wall. It rebounded off the desk and the floor before rolling to a stop by the door.
